Saturday morning we headed to the San Marco area of town to take a walk. It was a beautiful day in Jacksonville. Cool and sunny with just a little breeze. On a whim I looked up restaurants in the area and came across Stan's Sandwich & Grill. The reviews were good so we decided to take a chance. I'm not sure that walking three miles did much to counteract the lunch we had at Stan's Sandwich & Grill but it was soooooo good! John ordered grilled pastrami and fries. He said it was the best pastrami sandwich he'd had in a very long time. I ordered the Super Combo. Turkey, ham and roast beef with onions, tomatoes, lettuce and pickles on a sub roll. Oh my gosh it was good! It was also good that I ordered the regular and not the large. The regular was huge but I managed to eat every bit of it and I probably would have eaten every bit of the large:-) We shared the fries. They were hot and crispy. Seasoned just right. I had a cherry limeade. Does anyone remember when they'd give you a real lime in your cherry limeade? I miss that... My sandwich was so good I was craving another one by Saturday night. Trying to Walk Off Lunch. A few of the sights on this walk... There are lots of little parks scattered all around the San Marco Area. Greenscape Celebration Park is located on the St John's River. We also found a Geocache in this park. Beautiful flowers in bloom Another lovely little park. Moss draped oak trees and a neat fountain. All in all a wonderful day. Perfect weather, charming surroundings and yummy food.
When you're in Jacksonville, I'd highly recommend stopping by this wonderful place. Great food with fresh ingredients, made to order. Even better service. Mike and the family really make you feel at home. Was a great welcome to the city.
Yes!. I've only tried the chicken salad on a pita so far but if they're doing that as amazing as it was I can only imagine how everything else tastes. Also, the cherry limeade is so fresh and good.

Wandering around the San Marco area of Jacksonville I came across Stan’s Sandwich and Grill. It was located on the corner of Lasalle Street and Hendricks Ave in a small plaza between a dry cleaner and a convenience store.
Went here for a quick sub shop, we found on Google. We wanted a light, different place to eat before we headed back to Nebraska. The food was amazing. The staff is extremely friendly. This was such a nice, quite, and peaceful environment!
We stumbled upon this place. We were greeted by the owner who is wonderful. I had the grilled chicken on a pita and my co-worker had the burger. Both came with seasoned crinkle cut fries. It was piping hot, fresh and tasty. My chicken could've used more seasoning but overall it was good. There are lots of choices from cold or hot sanwiches, salads, breakfast, soup and dessert. We'll be back!
The freshness of every item prepared means that no matter what you order it will be phenomenal. Convenient location, reasonable prices and always friendly staff. Have returned on many occasions (10+) and will continue to be a regular. Recommend them to everyone that stops for lunch in the area! Perfect place to meet up with a friend or conduct a brief business lunch.
One of my favorite lunch spots. Owners are usually on hand and actively participate in running the restaurant. Consistent food and experience, friendly staff that knows the Regulars as well as what you'll order. Will repeat weekly for lunch.
My personal favorite sandwich shop in town. You can not eat the Italian trio with out making awkward sounds of delight. The staff makes you feel like you are eating in your grandma's kitchen, and they remember you after one visit.
Been stopping there whenever I am in the area for work, For years now. Great breakfast, lunch, huge menu, everything freshly prepared while you wait (have a seat well bring it to you)I know what an INCONVIENCE to have to wait on freshly cooked food..Its fantastic just go take a seat and you will be pleased with the results..its been there for years for a reason..great staff great customers very cool place
I've been eating here for 25 years. Laura and Fran make THE best combo of faces to walk in to. Best greasy bacon cheeseburger in town! Hell, ever! (best everything else, too!)
We have been eating at Stan's for 7 years and the staff is always very, very friendly. Fran is especially sweet. Good food done right and timely. Thanks Stans!!!!!
Stands is a simple place. The menu is the same with specials thrown in. Youvcamt go wrong with cheese burger. I am very fond of the BLT. Always tasty. stands is a safe place for simple filling food .
It's a classic sandwich shop. The employees are brusque but personable, the restaurant clean, and the food homemade and tasty. Definitely makes for a nice lunch stop.
