You had me at corn nuggets! We were pleasantly surprised at this BBQ find.
The sampler was on point and the Texas chopped beef was great! Loved the portion sizes!! The smell of BBQ, clean surroundings, and friendly service- can't go wrong there! We will definitely be back.
Ate there today, best pulled chicken in town and the mac and cheese was perfect � and I am a harsh Mac and cheese critic ! If you haven't been here before it's a must go to!
This place is delicious, with a great atmosphere and good service. The price is reasonable for the portion size so I highly recommend visiting!
I love monroes! This is probably my fave lunch spot.. I have an hour lunch break and me and my colleague can drive over and easily get in and out. The BBQ doesn't disappoint. Favorite is prob the brisket and wings. Try the chipotle sauce if you like spice. Good quality BBQ unlike the chains in town which are mediocre at best.
I have never had a bad meal. Meat actually has smoke, which none of the other BBQ places in town have. Chicken, ribs, burnt ends are amazing.Sides are fantastic as is the service.

I Like All the Food But Love the Ribs. The dry seasoning is the best I have ever had
Great BBQ. We stopped in for lunch on Sunday afternoon and had a fantastic meal! The two meat combo with pulled pork and sliced brisket was flavorful and one of the best BBQ meals I have ever eaten. The pulled pork had a great crispy bark and the brisket was tender with very little fat. The fries were fresh from the fryer and the corn souffle tasted great and was a nice change. The portions were large--even for the lunch plates. The iced tea was spot on because it wasn't too weak and it was freshly brewed. Our server did an excellent job because she was friendly, communicative and made sure we had a good meal. After thoroughly enjoying ourselves, we are looking forward to our next visit.
I LOVE THEIR MOUTH WATERING MEAT!!. Monroe's is the best bbq place in town! It is sooooo good I eat it at least once a week. The food is not the only great thing about Monroe's, I don't know who does their decorationing but they created a fun and exciting environment. There are so many great things about Monroe's that it is soooo hard to express in one review. Their catering service is just as great as eating in the resturaunt. I would definitely recommend them to cater either your work lunch or personal event like a birthday party or wedding event. Their manager Mike is one of the best around! His friendly and attentive service reflects down on all of the employees as it is some of the best service I have experienced in JAX. He is one reason why I'm a weekly recurring customer. Keep an eye out for their events too because their entertainment is a blast! Jenny McCarthy is a great singer and packs the place everytime! If you haven't tried it yet, hurry up and get in there!

Does anyone ever complain about too much food? My fiance and I ordered the Brisket Nachos. They were really good. I ordered the two meat platter with Pork and Ribs, a side salad and fries. I'll finish my ribs and pork today. What I did eat last night was really good. I'm happy with my selections, and we will be back soon.
Meatastic. I have tasted no BBQ better than this in all of Jacksonville. At the same time, their establishments are clean and enjoyable to eat at, something I feel like you have to sacrifice for at some of the other worthy BBQ opponents in Jax.
Their wings are the best I have ever tasted, none of that smothering in ranch to cover up a low quality product. The seasoning is balanced. Just the right amount of smoky flavor. Their sides are not just a boring afterthought either. The service has always been great. Go to this place!!!! I cant wait to order catering from there for an event.

OUTSTANDING Brisket. This is the newest location on Beach blvd. Until now, you had to drive to the westside to enjoy this amazing bbq. My favorite is the Brisket. I have high standards, being a former Texan...and this does not disappoint. Consistently moist, with a great crust and smoke ring. In my perfect world, they'd use mesquite wood...but not practical to source in Florida. Pulled chicken is great, as well as true N. Carolina pulled pork. Clean, rustic atmosphere with several draft beers, and a few interesting ones in the bottle. Great sweet tea. Service has been A+++ the three times I've been. Check out the desserts :) Room for improvement in the side dishes. The fries are steak fries and perfect. However the collards have a dominant vinegar flavor that is a bit overwhelming, the mac-n-cheese suffers from cheap cheese that breaks down and saturates the pasta with oil, and no flavor ( add a little salt please ). Truth be told, these are southern classic side dishes...however with the perfection of the bbq, you could put a bit of a gourmet spin on the sides and dominate the bbq scene. If you like pork, chicken, or brisket...you owe it to yourself to check this place out at least once.
I can not say enough great things about this place. In town for an event, and upon reading the reviews, I decided to give them a try. Walked in, and we were immediately greeted and seated by Debbie J who ended up being our waitress. We wanted to try everything out but with Debbie's recommendation we went for a full slab of ribs with an order of brisket with a 4 veggie platter that consisted of Mac n cheese, coleslaw, sweet potatoe souffle, and baked beans. While waiting for our food, our waitress Debbie gave us a sample of their banana pudding. It was so good that we got some to go as well. Our food was good. Brisket was perfect and tender. Ribs were very good, and I liked their sweet sauce on the ribs. Debbie was phenomenal, very friendly, and knowledgeable, she went above and beyond to make sure everything was to our likingth Debbie's recommendation we went for a full slab of ribs with an order of bris

I got the pulled pork dinner with fries, baked beans, and coleslaw. It was all so good! Coleslaw was perfect amount of wet and sweet, baked beans were sweet and tasty, and the pulled pork was amazing!
I would recommend coming here for a good lunch meal or even dinner!
I was pleased. Perfectly seasoned ribs, chicken, and turkey (its honestly like a brisket and really good).
I was so impressed with the kindness of our server too. She said she's a second generation server for the restaurant which shows a lot.
The potato salad was dry and the corn wasn't impressive.
The sauces were definitely to die for.

Have 1/2 hour for lunch. Sick of eating fast food. I called ahead of time placed my order to be ready when i got there at 1:05! Simply put The recommended dish was the beef brisket! I was told “my husband LOVES the brisket-he says it’s the best!” I had pulled pork sandwich (requested extra lean), and onion rings. Omg! This was the best I have had in years. Tiny lil place simple ambiance, clean, and efficiently run! The best! Highly recommend. Can’t wait to try the brisket! Do yourself a flavor and come to this hidden gem!
I think it was near closing when we arrived, but we were wet (raining), hungry, and not in the mood for another burger (traveling).
We were greeted in a warm and friendly manner. We planned to hurry on decisions but the waitress gave us a good amount of time.
Everything was delicious and hot. Our waitress came to check on us several times, refilling our drinks quickly. The portions are large, so we were able to take some home for lunch the next day.
Everything was excellent! Read the reviews and I was happy to find that everything was just as it was reported. Staff was friendly and patient. Laura was wonderful and brought us a sampler plate of sides because it was our first trip. I had my heart set on fried okra but once I tried a bite of the baked beans, I was sold. Best baked beans ever, sweet and seasoned with love and bacon. It paired well with my pulled pork. We arrived an hour before they closed to dine in and found out they were out of ribs so we will be back! The onion rings came full in a basket. They are gigantic so I could only eat one. I recommend sharing them. The coleslaw was too overpowered by mayonnaise but the corn on the cob was good. The hot link was a very mild kielbasa and I would have preferred a chorizo or spicy sausage. Place was clean and staff was pleasant. Can’t wait to go back.
I will start by saying our waitress, Sarah H, always takes VERY GREAT care of us. It is because of Her first and the food second and the family atmosphere thirdly of why we keep coming back. We look forward to coming back. Thanks Much!!!!
We had good service, and it was right before the 9 pm closing. Very nice waitress and the food was good. Tried the brisket sandwich on toast and mac and cheese. Wings and fries a delicious, but my favorite Monroe's is still on the Westside.
I just had Monroes for the first time today and I am kicking myself for not trying it sooner. The smoked chicken wings are amazing and ribs so good you want to slap your momma....not really lol. We also tried the smoked turkey cobb salad and it was also amazing. If your looking for BBQ with great flavor this is the place.
Using my son’s account but me and my husband went here and it was the best bbq we have has in a while. Everything was so good.
