This is a real diner with real diner food. I ordered the fried green tomatoes, which are not ordinary. They are served with bacon, bleu cheese and a yummy sauce. Also ordered the bacon egg and cheese biscuit with a side of sausage gravy. I could have eaten the gravy like a bowl of soup, it was so good with huge chunks of sausage in it...the biscuit was a soft delightful cloud of yumminess. And loaded with bacon and egg and cheese. Will return!
We love the Fox. Any place that cares enough to have a special batter for waffles (versus just using pancake batter) is solid! It’s my go to spot 1-2 times a week.
Not a bad little diner. Food is VERY basic. Nothing special that makes it sick out. The atmosphere was great though. All the servers and the manager were very upbeat. Very small, quaint place. The interior could use an update, but that's just my opinion 😀
First time in and I will say it's awesome. I loved the old school dinner vibe, the menu is absolutely huge, and alot of amazing food combinations. The service was excellent, boss took us all to lunch and it's definitely a place we will be coming back to.
Arrived right after 7am and was greeted with smiles and cheerful banter from the kitchen staff. Grabbed a seat by the window on a chilly winter morning to observe the world whizzing by while I enjoyed a hot cup of coffee in the perfect diner mug. Quick appearance of food and attentive service made this a memorable Tuesday morning. And thank you to Ellen, my server...always a cheer to meet a fellow Ellen. Not that many of us. We are the good ones. :-)
This isn’t our first time but it has been over a year. We arrived around 12:30 (Sunday) and got lucky and didn’t have to wait.
Ellen greeted us and got our drink orders while we looked over the menus. We ordered and didn’t have to wait long for our food.
Our complaints: friendly staff, really attentive, too much bacon, food was cooked perfectly, really cool and fun decor.
I got bacon cheeseburger with provolone and fries with side of ranch.
My boyfriend got the French toast breakfast with cheesy eggs, too much bacon lol, cheesy grits.
We took the extra bacon home to our pup.
*We don’t expect staff to be perfect and have a smile on their face at all times. They are humans working a hard job dealing with entitled ppl.
Great spot for a tasty honest breakfast 🍳 or lunch 🥪. Today I had the Nam burger and it was great, with chorizo and an egg. My wife had and loved the Mediterranean salad with added chicken and bacon. The romaine lettuce was fresh and crispy and she thoroughly enjoyed it. We both had a cup of chili which was good (not amazing but good). The service was great and the staff were working really well together. The place itself has a great home feel and hippie vintage feel and ambiance which works well for the neighborhood. We love the Fox and we return every time we are in the area.
My favorite breakfast spot in Avondale maybe Jax. Chris will get your food prepared to perfect at turbo speed! Bring a friend or bring the family. And if you come alone sit at the counter and enjoy the camaraderie of the staff!!! The Fox Restaurant, yaas!
Fox Restaurant is a diner style with a typical diner menu. When we arrived, there was a line halfway down the block. They had a friendly employee checking in with the crowd and seating people as soon as a spot opened up. The line moved fairly quickly. The food was excellent and came out fast. They checked on us several times to make sure everything was okay, to ask if we needed anything else, and to refresh our drinks. Great food, great service, friendly staff.
A lovely breakfast experience. The establishment exudes personality while the wait staff are friendly and quick to respond to customers. The food was satisfying and the coffee was excellent. I'd recommend checking this place out for the atmosphere alone. I will be coming back to check out the rest of their menu.
This place is truly exceptional. What a treat. It has all the components that everyone else forces upon their establishment, but it’s genuine. Large portions, simple dishes, perfectly crafted, and service that is a lost art. This type of restaurant is on the extremely endangered list. I truly hope they continue to thrive.
Home Style Good Cooking and Service. Reasonable. Nice portions. Small town atmosphere. Served nice and hot.
Have not seen a place like it in Jacksonville. Enjoy.
