Metro diner is my go-to for classic southern comfort diner food! I’ve been going here for years, and they are consistently good— much better than going to a Denny’s, ihop, or Cracker Barrel. Their biscuits and gravy are delicious and authentic, and I also recommend the croissant French toast, grits, and anything on the special menu! I usually get breakfast here but all of their meals are great. I just wish they had some pure maple syrup. Breakfast is offered all day so feel free to ask for a breakfast menu at lunch or dinner. The atmosphere is quite nice being right on the water, but there is a bit of traffic noise from the road so close by. Definitely recommend this place at a Jacksonville staple!

The dining room is reminiscent of an old-school diner. The staff is friendly and courteous. The food was fast, accurate and delicious. We had a big table so I was able to try a few of everyone's plates. I would highly recommend the BBQ Bacon Burger (pictured), the Meatloaf is dynamite, and the strawberry butter on their chicken and waffles is so unique.

Excellent place during our weekend stay and we ended up coming back twice. I would highly recommend the chicken and waffles and the biscuits and gravy was really good too. Great staff and good experience.
A Jacksonville-area staple. I still dream about the fried chicken eggs' benedict. YUM YUM YUM! Perfectly fried chicken on top of a fluffy biscuit, smothered in perfectly cooked hollandaise sauce. Yes. Please. But regardless of what you get, you won't be disappointed. The sausage gravy + biscuits are delicious and hot. And you can't go wrong with any egg dishes or waffles/pancakes. Indoors or out, service is good and with a smile. Just know if you sit on the porch, it can get a little noisy from the cars. PRO TIP - visit the website and get on the 'virtual' waiting list so you wait less once you arrive!
Our waitress was very sweet and attentive, we came in on Sunday morning and it was a 15 minute wait. We got our food quickly, it was all pretty good. Chicken was delicious but the rest was standard. I would probably come back in future.
This is my first stop right from the airport when I come to Jacksonville to visit my family. I'm very particular about my fried chicken, and Metro Diner never disappoints. Food is well-seasoned, hot, and served by a great staff.
I love coming to this restaurant and eating because I can eat breakfast or lunch. I the food was great and service was excellent. I had chicken salad and Cheryl had meatloaf and mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans. We had a awesome server. Her name was Joslyn super sweet kind and was a very good server thank you for your hospitality and treat us like we were at home. Can’t wait to come back and see you guys. Thanks you guys, Star
Thankful these guys stay open longer than some other brunch (only) places...we wanted lunch past 2pm and Metro came through for us!
We've never had a bad experience at this Metro Diner. The staff are always friendly and attentive, the food great and plenty of what I'd call "comfort food" choices. We tend to prefer the brunch like meals, though our family also like their chicken, fish and waffle choices. If you ever want to be amazed, sit at the counter where you'll the kitchen staff cook like crazy - I don't know how they coordinate so many different things going at once!

It’s a local favorite and though not always perfect.. today’s breakfast rocked it! Croissant French toast, Bissell breakfast and bacon avocado scramble bowl with the bacon on the side. Sat outside on this beautiful day and had great food and service. Happy to say we ate a lot at the original Metro and will continue to patron that on and all of the other locations!
Our waitress Catherine’s extremely nice! She’s a true example of southern hospitality!! Here, I ordered the chicken pot pie as a brunch (and orange juice as a drink).The pancakes that my aunt shared with me were really buttery and delicious! Catherine would stop by every 10 minutes to make sure that we were having an excellent dining experience and absolutely nobody at my table was disappointed with anything at all. The chicken pot pie was made with plenty of love and was so creamy! If you happen to be in Jax’s Mandarin district and are looking for an excellent diner, eat at Metro Diner! The best part? You can eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner any time of day!
