Texas Roadhouse used to be our favorite steak place. We found Hickory House about a year ago and we have been going there twice a month for a great steak dinner. We've dealt with Blake and Mike several times. Very professional, friendly, and very polite. The other members of the staff that have helped us in the past have also been very friendly, professional, and polite. Their steaks are the best. Very savory and cook exactly the way you request. We were in the mood for steak and went back to our former favorite place because it was a day that Hickory House was closed and it just was good, but not great. Good prices and great food. Well done Hickory House.

Food was very good. My husband got the chicken fried steak. He said it was very good. It was huge, almost the size of a small plate. I got the grilled pork chop. It was really moist and tender. We enjoyed our visit.

The food was good but it's a small place. It was hard to accommodate a party of 6, but they were able to do it after just a short wait. Employees were all very friendly, and the portions were generous.
Our server was pleasant and kept the coffee cups filled. The grits were outstanding, with a delicious flavor that didn't need anything added. We left full and happy. Kids meal had a giant portion, and omelets are big enough to split.

Good Grief
My food has been always been excellent. Service has always been great! I personally didn't care for a side dish once, which is a crowd favorite lol & it was noticed & promptly replaced, although I didn't mention it. Now that is great service!

Had their hickory breakfast. Bacon and sausage was outstanding taste. Little linger cook time on bacon to get crispness would of been better for me but that’s something I should of asked for. The gravy was great. The food was really good. Service was great. This is in Jackson Missouri just north of Cape Girardeau.

Excellent...Super cool breakfast spot connected to a bookstore! The food is decent as are the baked goods and coffee. They have breakfast stuff as well, like pancakes. Great service. Solid food, nice atmosphere. We will definitely be back! Great ambiance and consistently great food and service. Fun place for a business dinner.

Top Restaurant in Southeast Missouri. Hickory House is a rare find for this part of the State. Most of our local restaurant options are big-box franchises. Hickory House is everything those places are not: the atmosphere is charming and pleasant from the moment you walk in; the servers are fantastic; and the food is truly outstanding. Everything is made from scratch. My husband and I go there at least once a week. We've never had anything but a lovely experience and we will continue to go there, whether it's for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. (We just had a terrific dinner there tonight and I wish I would have taken a few photos to add... I'll have to do that next time!)

The BEST place to eat.. I do not agree with Ms.Cartwright. As for the service that I have recieved is nothing but excellent!! The waitress has always been prompt, and our order has always been corect. As for the food, I dont think you will ever find food as good as this unless you are cooking it at home. The manager and owner are always very friendly. They use the best ingredients and take pride in what they are fixing. So coming from some one who eats there at least 3 times a week, you will not go wrong.<br/>Some of the things to try,<br/>1.Catfish<br/>2. BBQ ( any of it)<br/>3.Prime Rib<br/>4.Fried Chicken<br/><br/>These are just to name a few, so happy eating.

Good home cooking. I have had the extreme pleasure of dining in this place and have had nothing but good service and food. Mrs Cartwright speaks from experience, she used to work there. Maybe that is why she no longer works there. My experience has been gracious friendly hosts, immediate service and some of the best food I have tasted in this area at a reasonable price be it slightly more than the burger joints and styrofoam containers. The BBQ is tender with a flavor to be experienced. the sides are generous and savory. The home style meals are beyond belief. I took my Daughter there and her first remark was,"My goodness, thats a lot of food."The manager and the owners come out and talk to their customers to insure that food and service are to the customers satisfaction, if not then it is taken care of immediately. I recommend this highly for taste and service.

Ms.. I have been to this restaurant many times already and I have always been treated with respect and waited on asap. I have never had a problem with any waitress. They have always been very gracious and very cordial. They act very professionally and I really havent noticed them on cell phones. The food here is excellent and the price is right. It is a restaurant that everyone should have at the top of their list. Jackson needed this restaurant and I am proud to bring visitors there. They have never let me down. I consider them 5 star.
