Review Ziggie & Mad Dog's - Islamorada

We visited the restaurant on the last evening of our vacation in the US… and it was the best choice ever. I love to eat and I can say : this meal was the best I ever had ! Even if it was a kinda pricey evening - it was totally worth the experience we had eating this delicious food! Greetings to the chef 👨🏻‍🍳 ❤️ Also the waitress was super kind to us. If we will come back to the US we would love to eat there again .

The food was outstanding and our server, Leslie was top notch. From the very beginning of our meal to the end, it was perfect. I was very pleasantly surprised at how delicious the filet mignon was. My husband loved the crab meat stuffed fish dish he ordered. The truffle Mac and Cheese side was fantastic and a very large serving. The key lime pie and the pistachio ice cream dessert was also delicious.

Very intimate place. The entrées and sides were amazing and cooked to perfection. The dessert (creme Brulee) was OK. I think I would try a different dessert next time. The service made the whole experience an overall special night.

What a hidden gem. From the street, it looks bad. However, from the moment you walk into the restaurant, wow. They don't do a lot of steak in the Keys. Search this place out if you want a fantastic steak with awesome seafood.

Loved it! Great food. Great staff. Great indoor dining area. Great music. Roadside curb appeal made this place "not" our first choice. However, it ended up being a serendipitous find that we ended up loving. Menu items seemed pricey at first sight, but at first bite, I felt the prices were a very good deal. Tremendous place. (Meal Prices about $65/person) Main dishes range from about $30-$65, and appetizers are around $15

We stumbled upon this place last year and fell in love, I kept thinking about their lobster Mac and cheese !! Needless to say, the food is amazing and well worth the price. There are plenty of options anyone will enjoy. For starters we had Yuka balls, filled with a creamy cheese and fried to perfection. My fiancé got the ahi Tuna and I had the lobster Mac ! The service is professional and the environment is warming. Stop in !!

passed this place for years. we have had our favorite go to places and never got past them. this trip all were closed so we decided to try ziggie and mad dogs. unbelievably awesome! holy cow, the servings were huge, the meals so so fantastic, and our server ashley was truly the best ever! worth every dime! we were never rushed, even with the flow of customers coming, going and waiting. the drinks were healthy also! for sure our new favorite. sad we passed it for so long!

Really surprised. White table cloth restaurant in the Keys. Excellent food and service. Super catch of day was snapper almandine with garlic onion rings. Others had bone in rib-eye which was really good. General Ben’s Medallions we’re recommended highly. Server was great. Really nice dining experience.

Our first time to Islamorada so picking places to eat was taking chances. Whether it's goods or services, I tend to depend on reviews. After searching several sites, every one put this as the #1 steakhouse. I'm glad we chose it. From being greeted at the door to all who took care of us, nothing but friendly professionals. I did the surf and turf with a Delmonico ribeye and lobster tail. Huge portion of amazing food. Highly recommend!! Leave room if you can for some key lime pie.

Absolutely scrumptious. The key lime pie was whipped perfection! lobster Mac and cheese and escargot were things I've never had before and it was delicious. Thank you chefs for your skills and thank you to our fantastic server for a Devine Dinner. Xoxo

One of our favorite spots in town. Steak cannot be beat, as well as the amazing a la carte sides. Don’t leave without checking out the Pistachio Creamed Spinach, or the Hand Cut Fries. Great wine list to top it off. GM Andrew always goes above and beyond to provide some of the best service in the Keys.

The ambience was nice inside and waiters were excellent. We had scallops and steak both delicious. The sides we had were sweet potatoes and scalloped potatoes. They were okay. We ended the meal with a delicious Key lime pie:)

Our friends recommended Ziggie & Mag Dog's and joined us along with another couple. We shared 3 12 Oz filet mignons between each couple, salads, Truffle Mac and Cheese, and creamed spinach. Everything was perfect, and tasted great. Best to make reservations at least a day in advance. It's a must resturant to visit if in the Keys.

Would actually be a 4 1/2 star place( I hardly if ever do a 5 so this is super for me!!!) This is a wonderful place. Unobtrusive in outside looks, though elegant inside and quite a blend of attire so no one would feel out of place. Service superb, mine and others I observed around me. Food choices were excellent and perfectly portioned. Definitely would search it out !!! You won't be disappointed.

The service here was great. The waitress took our drink order while giving us enough time to look over the menu. The appetizers came out which were very good (no pictures, sorry). Then there was plenty of time to enjoy the atmosphere. They did not rush out the food, which was nice. Then the entrées came out. The portions were large. The New York Strip could be cut with a fork, it was so tender. The side dishes were large enough to share with a few people. If you gonto this place make sure you a hungry enough, because you will need it. What a great night.

We loved it here!! Super friendly staff. The food and drinks were amazing!! I highly recommend a nice relaxing dinner here!!! Great for special occasions!!! Reservations are Highly Highly recommended since this place gets busy. You can make a reservation by email them through their website and they are super quick to respond!!!

The best steak in the keys ! Everything from the lobster bisque to the appetizers to the service, all of it was fantastic. Make sure you make reservations , this place seems to be busy every night they are open. Only issue was I had the lobster and I was told it was about 10 oz. The cost was $75 which was high in my mind. That would make a 1 lb lobster $120, so next time I will ask was the total price was for the tail.

I am very sad to give Ziggy Mad Dog's this mediocre rating but I am not going to be polite. In my past experiences, the staff has been very friendly and accommodating. Last night was eye opening. I made reservations for a birthday dinner and was not told that the main dining room was already reserved for those that had specifically asked to be seated there. We walked in promptly at our reservation time and the restaurant was quiet because it was early. We were sat at a table under the vents near the bar facing the kitchen. We asked to be moved and were given a definitive No. So, we left. I feel that if I am going to spend $200 dollars on a dinner, I'd like to be comfortable. Anyone feel differently?

Just be aware that the Lobster bisque tastes like carrots, and not lobster... I mean, its fantastic, but for carrot soup not lobster bisque. Agree with other patrons who said the food is good but not in correlation with the prices.

One of the best steakhouses I have ever been to in my life. I got the Delmonico steak which was so flavorful and tender. The garlic butter that they put on top of the steak is awesome. The steaks were huge and very filling. We got a side of the mac and cheese and asparagus. Everything was amazing. The mac and cheese was very rich but good. I cannot rave enough about how amazing my steak was. My table got the center cut filet, shrimp and grits, and chicken and pasta dish. Everyone was incredibly satisfied. If you are in Islamorada for dinner and wish to splurge on a meal that is worth it go here!!! Additionally, the martinis are amazing. Did I mention the steak is amazing?

Took my wife for her birthday dinner and, unfortunately, we had a bad experience. Our waiter forgot to place our order, leaving us waiting well over an hour for dinner. The drinks and appetizers took quite a while as well. The food was actually good, but we were just too frustrated to enjoy it.

Do not let the unassuming exterior deceive you - Ziggy and Mad Dog's is a 4-star, high-end steak-house, but without the oppressively-pretentious overtones. Very expensive but great dining experience nonetheless. The menu is limited, but who cares? Locals eat there at least three times a week - that alone speaks volumes about the place. Staff is impeccably-dressed and the service first-rate. I was not terribly hungry at the time, so I had the Double-Bone Pork-Chop and a beer; the chop was AWESOME! Cannot wait to come back and try a steak. Every item on the menu is HUGE - doggy-bags are essential. Menu is a la carte, with all sides @ $8.00 each - but the portions are huge (!!!). Prepare on spending $120 for two @ minimum, but definitely worth it. I dined solo @ the bar, but the locals chatted with me as if I had been a regular diner@ the restaurant - how cool is that? So go if you love eating huge quantities of massive portions of select meats and seafood - but I recommend that you eat at a leisurely pace (which is encouraged) and just take your leftovers home). Go early or make reservations, though - the place fills up quickly.

Fine dining. Late dinner so we skipped appetizers. Dinners were great. The libations from the bar were citified! My husband asked for an unusual drink & they had it. Loved it!

Fell Well Short Of Expectations. After coming down to The Keys for years, I thought I would deter from the typical fried this and Mahi that and check out Z&M. As the service was fantastic... the food fell soooo short. Lobster Bisque... brown and nasty! Lobster Mac n Cheese tasted like mud... worse. My bone in ribeye.. well Publix sells a better steak! Three of us for dinner last Sunday night [12/9/12] for my son's bday.. $150 with no drinks. I will pay whatever for great food but I doubt I will ever make this mistake again as I would rather eat the nasty buffet @ Whale Harbor...! YUK

When we walked in the door, we were pleasantly surprised! What a great little place, definitely a favorite. Food is great, service even better. Worth every single penny.

LOVED IT. We have been coming to the Keys r since my husband & I married. But never tried Ziggie. We decided to celebrate our 30yr anniversary on Tuesday. Don't let the outside fool you, inside is very upscale, service outstanding and most importantly the food amazing. Truffle Mac/cheese to die for.We have already booked a table for my husbands birthday dinner later this month.

$25 meals for $75. Visited with my wife and daughter and read many good reviews of Ziggie's. First, the service was good, server very professional and attentive. The experience reminded me of Ruth Chris' but not of the same quality of meat. The scallops were decent but not great, $6 per scallop seems a bit high. Over all I think the restaurant is way over priced for the level of preparation and quality, but if money is not an issue, give it a try.

The filet was cooked perfectly and the pistachio creamed spinach is amazing! Also great friendly service

The food was no better than okay at best. Very very overpriced drinks and food. No ambience whatsoever and the laughing annoying bartender made me want to get up and scream. Jim Mandich take note he drives away customers!!! As a local I won't return. The prices and average food are not good enough. Once again the hyena bartender ruined my meal by laughing every five seconds! BRUTAL! Not how I wanted to spend Valentine's day with my wife

The Best in the Keys. As a "local" I can attest to the consistent quality of this restaurant. We love it and dine there often. John is wonderful and anxious to meet your every need.<br/>My favorites? The Veal Chop is the best I have ever had...any of the steaks are fabulous and cooked perfectly to order...<br/>The Maddog salad is not to be missed.<br/>What I dream about??? the Augratin potatoes<br/>Yes it is expensive...yes everything is ala carte...but wow is it good

The best steak place in the mid-upper Keys. Top flight. Prices are in line with any top steak houses in America.

We rated it as liked it, but be aware--the food is good but not outstanding and prices are outrageous. It's all a la carte, even for sauces. On the other hand, portions are large enough to share. One appetizer , one entree and one side are enough for two people.

Exceptional. This place is a wonder. It's the best service in the keys. A quaint little place that is formal but friendly. We did spend quite a bit of money but also enjoyed everything so much we just kept on ordering.

BEST Yet!. Went to Ziggy's for dinner again, as we had tried it before and though it was good, had always liked Braza Lena better....not any more! Ziggy's is miles ahead after this week.<br/>My husband is a meat eater so we always have to eat someplace that offers both but most specifically GREAT STEAKS!<br/>Ziggys quality is TOPS and the service is great and fun. Very cozy and homey feeling while a bit special too. Everything was GREAT! Good job guys and keep up the good work it is only a matter of time before you will be the ONLY choice for Steaks in Islamorada.....LOVE the seafood too!

Can you Say Buckhead Beef?. After you ask all the local's on the island where to eat, you will be sure to have several recommendations to try out this steak lover's dream of a restaurant with a little "surf" on the side for good measure. However, this nothing little building might have you wondering if got the wrong mile marker. I don't think they ever even take the hurricane shutters down, but I do love the redone terrazo floors, reminds me of growing up in Florida as all the old houses had them. Everything is served family style on large plates, you MUST try the spinach, it is otherworldly fantastic! The service is world class without making you feel "waited on", it's more like you are being hosted. The wine selection is incredible, the steaks will melt in your mouth. I've eaten at some fine restaurants on a couple of continents and for food quality, I have to ask myself if I've had better, and to find this little gem in tiny Islamorada is just amazing. Plan your trip to the Keys around spending a night in Islamorada just to eat at Ziggy's, and get ready to losen your belt. You will really enjoy filling up at this Islamorada stop.

Celebrated anniversary here-- great choice! Exquisite food seasoned and cooked to culinary perfection. Wonderful ambience, superb staff. Worth the trip from anywhere!

The food is amazing!!! Very cozy....the staff is always on their feet. It is a good place to eat.

Special guests and occasions. The best steaks in town... and the seafood's great too! Best is the atmosphere, staff and John... the guy really knows how to treat customers - makes everyone feel special.
