I phoned in my order & the staff was pleasant from start to finish. I ordered pork chops(grilled) with requested grilled onions, collard greens, Mac & cheese & banana pudding( that didn’t stand a chance of existence). Once I entered, I almost was taken aback from being greeted so quickly. Staff was so pleasant they made me smile immediately. All the beautiful staff gave a just as beautiful service. I was shown my order to make sure I was ok with everything. I couldn’t wait to eat at this point. Chops were so tender, greens have a special hit of heat to it, Mac wasn’t traditionally baked but still good. But the banana pudding didn’t stand a chance! I travel for work so I don’t get to eat my favorite comfort food often. I was so pleased.
We enjoyed the staff, food, and establishment
Tammi is an excellent host. She had a pleasant and gregarious smile. Zayed was a wonderful food specialist. I appreciated the chef coming out to check on us. The staff was excellent. The portions of food were very filling. The food was well seasoned. 😋
Now, yall know I LOVE giving reviews, so here we go! "His Place Eatery" was a wonderful find on our day trip away from home. We were welcomed from the moment we stepped in the door until the second our soles left their pavement. Seating was swift. It was a little chilly inside-I felt like we were in a waffle house, and I should've brought a sweater. We still chose to eat in. Ashley was our waitress. She was very pleasant, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the menu items. I REALLY wanted the smothered pork chop, BUT since hubby ordered that, I had to go barBque. The serving sizes were plentiful. Every item we ordered was DELICIOUS! The ribs were far from anorexic. Them thAngs were FAT! The only complaint that I had, and I gave 4 stars instead of 5-is that the corn muffin was cold & dry dry. A little butter may have brought it back, but I doubt it! Still, I crumbled that thing right on up into my cabbage. I did taste hubbies pork chop (like every good wife does🤣), and that thing was so tender with a light but crispy crust. It paired so well with the corn bread dressing. It really wasn't smothered, more like well covered, but it didn't affect the taste AT ALL! We took dessert to go: banana pudding & a sweet, good crust to fruit ratio peach cobbler. The prices were reasonable, especially since they gave plenty of food. I would definitely be willing to drive almost 2 hours to eat there again. #ILuVreviews!
If you check out my profile, I'm partial to Soul Food. Primarily because it's often heavily processed and cost cutting measures are taken. Which takes the Soul from soul food. Therefore, some food tastes artificial and/or high is salt. Now, let's begin.
1. Fried chicken, well seasoned, and loads of flavor. It's not the best but good.
2. The greens, I want to say they are out of a can because it was very salty and I couldn't taste any smoked meat
3. Mac and Cheese, it was orange-yellow...I don't want Velveeta. I gave that back and asked for dressing.
4. Dressing-no gravy, I. Can't. Stand. Sweet. Dressing. I always get dressing without gravy because I want to taste the actual dressing. Sometimes, people use Gravy to cover up. Also, the reason why their dressing is sweet is because they use jiffy. Although It's nasty its was seasoned well. If the sweetness wasn't there, it would be hard to compete with.
5. YAMS 💯 whew child, the butter was dripping!! It's just a tad too much sugar.
6. Peach Cobbler 💯 be warned it's a very large portion. The crust was buttery and held up against the syrup. A tad to much sugar because some of the granules didn't melt all the way.
7. The sweet tea was OK. Against the other items, it was another sweet thing.
The water was good as well.
Great atmosphere, clean tables, and very welcoming.
I'd also like to point out their creativity. They have an Entree with just sides. You select the three items you'd like. I think that is a wonderful option and I have not seen that at other restaurants.
I didn't get the cornbread because it's not homemade.. it's jiffy. A lot of soul food restaurants take shortcuts and this was one of the options that they chose to do.
Overall, very good.
I finally was able to visit His Place eatery and all I can say is one word; wow! The food was absolutely delicious and you could really taste the love in the food. The staff was so kind and welcoming, everyone I encountered was extremely friendly. The prices might come across as high to some but it is 100% worth the splurge and worth treating yourself. I will most definitely be returning, eager to taste more delicious food.
Great service, big menu and all around great food. Peach Cobbler Chicken and Waffles did not dissappoint. Every component was perfect. Fried Chicken is honestly some of the best I've had... very crispy and super flavorful. Will be back here as soon as I return to Indianapolis, whenever that may be.
We went on Father’s Day and was served and completed eating in less than an hour with a party of 6! The food came out hot and delicious! It was hard to choose because everything looked good and everything was good! This is a black owned and operated business that does business well. Officially added to best food spots and we will definitely return when in the area.
The Cajun grilled catfish was spot on today. My son had the buffalo chicken sandwich and it was good also. Will be back.
