Review Mesh - Indianapolis

S Anton
Atmosphere was really nice and the service was great. Went there for seafood and they were out due to cooler issue. Wanted to order the halibut and salmon. Got the chicken instead it was ok. They gave us desserts and that was nice. The deviled eggs are really good. The bread appetizer was just ok.

Outstanding service and food. The server was very knowledgeable and friendly. Made sure we understood everything on the menu and was responsive and attentive. My fav, asked if the salmon cooked medium would be okay. Everyone seems to be overcooking salmon these days. We had crab cakes, dauphinese potatoes (new menu item), salmon, bread basket and graham central station ice cream. Crab cakes were full of crab meat not filler with a delightful remoulade. Salmon had a great glaze that was a little tangy and a little sweet. The potatoes were tender and tasty, an overall great menu addition. Our only complaint was how loud it was which made it hard for a party of 2 to carry on a conversation.

Went there with a group, and every meal served was perfectly prepared. Complements to the chef and his staff. Our service staff made sure that we were all well taken care of. I would highly recommend this place

Excellent food and ambiance. The mesh salad was very flavorful and the halibut was fantastic. The ribeye might have been the best dish of the night as it was super flavorful with a coffee rub char finish.

We came for brunch. The atmosphere was classy and elegant. Service was quick and efficient. The food was great, like at all of the Cunningham restaurants from my experience. We got deviled eggs, smoked salmon bagels (picture included) and the fried chicken & waffles. We loved everything. The portions were perfect. Will definitely come back.

Ordered the short rib grilled cheese with sweet potato chips, the omelette with bacon added, and a brussel sprouts appetizer. The omelette and the potato side that came with it were a little bland, but everything else was delicious, especially the brussel sprouts. The interior was beautiful and the service was great, overall would recommend!

Had a great time at Mesh. The food was great. Loved their dumplings: they were a bit different from the ones I usually eat, which is great. Should have asked for the recipe, lol. Overall, I’ll give it a 5 stars. The server was super friendly and she made sure we had a good experience. Will definitely come back :)

Lisa was great! She made my birthday lunch amazing!

Brought a large group in and they were very accommodating. Drinks and food were all delicious. Our server was busy but did a great job. Will be coming back.

Mesh was an excellent contemporary American experience. The dishes were elegant but not absurd. Every dish was perfectly executed: the pork belly was crispy, melty, and the glaze was intense. The colossal shrimp were tender, the risotto herby, and the tomato jam sweet. The bread pudding was sweet and the vanilla ice cream was creamy and smooth. Hayden did a great job checking in and offering service. The best part of my night was Sweater Weather. What a perfect blend of bourbon and lemon.

Went for brunch with another family. Kids and adults loved everything. Probably one of the most inventive cocktail lists I've ever seen. We'll be back when we're in Indy again.

Food was INCREDIBLE. And although not a steak restaurant, easily one of the best steaks I’ve had. Although it was super loud and difficult to hear the people at my table, the food was really great. I also have to say, incredible cocktail menu and the service was exceptional, despite being a full house.

I have hosted two awards dinners with Mesh in their Fireside room. Sarah and the entire staff always do an exceptional job. She is very attentive during the planning stages of any private event and the same during the event. The food is always a hit and comes out hot and timely from course to course! Absolutely recommend Mesh for private events!

We had so much fun with our family that had come in from another state. We got a bottle of wine as well as a couple of delicious cocktails from the bar. However, the chicken that I ordered was a little over-cooked (on accident) and a bit rubbery (also on accident; easy to do). My husband had the Pad Thai but the noodles were a bit over done (also, way easy to do).My husband is a chef by trade (from Lyon, France). He was a bit disappointed but both of us understand the business and were ecstatic about the experience! We loved our server (I think his name was Adam? Super nice guy with recommendations that would accommodate different diet needs). We'd been recommended by many friends and family to visit and we will sending our friends and family there for dinner and drinks! Mesh on Mass displayed a spectacular visual of the food and the flavor was wonderful! 99.999% loved the restaurant. The ambience, the wonderful people working there as well as happy customers. This is a diamond in the rough kind of restaurant and I see why it gets raving reviews. Bon appètit!!

Went for a rehearsal dinner and was in a separate room on the second floor. The food was good and the service exceptional. Be aware that there is no elevator to the second level so it was somewhat of a challenge for older and anyone with a handicap. But a great venue for meetings or private parties

My wife and I went there for lunch. The chicken and waffles was one of the best I had - the touch of spice in it really stood out for me. My wife loved the benedict. Generous portion. Excellent service! It was a bit hot where we were seated so that ruined the experience a bit but definitely going back again for their dinner menu which looked even better.

Celebrating the end of finals last evening for our son. Started the evening with 3 of their creative signatures drinks. They did not disappoint!Appetizer of calamari was outstanding. Teriyaki slaw was a perfect bite with crunchy calamari. I had steak frites and fries which were fantastic! Flavor was deep and delicious. They had me with the aioli! My husband had the lamb. It was flavorful and tender. Son had duck confit. Duckidant! Directors cut Cabernet Sauvignon is a favorite at home so we were happy to see on menu. Server was super nice and attentive and ambience was superb! We had heard Mesh was slipping a bit... not true! Definitely on pointe tonight! Wonderful kick off to our holiday!

Awesome! I had a fantastic Zin to start. Delicious beet salad next. Kung Pao calamari was so tender with just the right amount of spice. I had the buttermilk cauliflower which may sound drab for some but it was so flavorful It was amazing. My husband was torn on a few dishes so he asked for a recommendation. It was the Curry. Wow. So full of curry and spice and full of seafood. They also have this bread that is crisp and tender at the same time with sun-dried tomato oil that is so fresh it makes you want more. If you like flavorful food you ha e to come here.

White Cheddar Bacon Burger is perfect. Two pieces of thick bacon criss cross a medium beef patty on a soft brioche bun with lettuce, tomato and onion.

Brunch is where it's at. Crab hash browns are bomb and devil eggs are a must ❤ wonderful service and friendly staff. Beautifully decorated. Ask for rewards card because they also go towards stone creek.

Always an excellent choice. I recently recommended Mesh on Mass as the perfect date night dinner. I can't wait to get some feedback because I know it will be great! The food is always creative and perfectly seasoned. The servers are top notch. The back patio is perfection when it's available.
The Good Doctor
Resturant was busy for a Thursday night. Sat at the bar. Bartender did not tell me any of the specials for dinner, nor the drink specials. They were busy enough to be not purposely inattentive.

The mushroom appetizer was a great concept. The philo dough was flakey, but the portion kept closest to the cooking element had burnt, and added a very overwhelming flavor to the dish. The mushroom filling was quite good, though very thick. The greens served with the dish were very heavily salted, to the point that it overwhelm the rest of the dish. I think this dish is an excellent concept by the chef, and just need to be executed a little better by the kitchen team.

I changed my order from the scallops to the dinner special, which had both scallops and fish. There was a nice crust on both sides of the scallops, with the middle of the scallop being cooked to the medium point. The fish was brazed expertly, and was light and flaky. The brussel sprouts and greens were cooked properly also, but had been very heavily salted, and again overwhelm the whole of the dish. The brussel sprouts had been slightly overdone, and had a burnt flavor on them, even though they themselves had not been burned. Again, the brussel sprouts were overly salty.

This establishment will continue to grow, and their expertise should continue to rise. As they continue to grow and mature, I look forward to revisiting this restaurant in another year, and see what improvements the chef has made.

This place is my heaven on earth. I've been here once with my parents and once with my boyfriend. Each time I really enjoyed my meal and experience at Mesh. My dad said the shrimp and grits was top five all time that he has ever had (and he is difficult to please). I always get steak and it's always wonderful. Wine selection is fabulous. This is a great place to eat for a special night downtown.

In all fairness I ordered the tuna tartare. To me it's one of the easiest things to make. Theirs was insipid. Wasn't confident enough to try anything else
Kristin
Really fabulous. My new favorite Indy restaurant. Server was one of the best I've encountered in a long time. Food was exquisite. Everything was absolutely delicious.

Fabulous!. I don't know why it took us so long to eat here... We had been here for drinks and discussed going for dinner or lunch, but only recently did we actually go. Last weekend we went for dinner and the Mushroom goat cheese was amazing - I could eat it for a meal, for brunch, or for ,lunch!
This past Sunday we went for brunch and I ordered the omelette. It was very tasty as well as the potatoes. I also ordered a bloody mary and it was one of the best I have ever had. We'll be back!

Miller's Farm Amish Chicken. This is one of the best dishes I have ever had.

Soso Good. Great food and amazing service! Thanks Jesse for taking care of us.

We had an incredible experience here for dinner. We dined outside by the fireplace. My husband and I shared the Brussel sprout salad. He chose Halibut for his main course and I had the Filet on special. It was amazing and our wine and beer selections also very good. It is a must try if you are in the downtown area. Great nightlife within walking distance for after your meal.

Superb in every way.. I have written over 920 restaurant reviews to date and out of all of those, only 13 of them had wow'ed me to the point of me declaring/voting them as my "favorites." Mesh is now number 14 on my list.

Mesh, you did everything perfect last night. From the person being kind and caring in my reservation process to all 3 people at the hostess stand quickly shutting up and giving us their full attention when we walked up to our excellent, excellent server whose name I can't remember for the life of me. The whole evening was excellent. First, on Sunday nights they apparently have all of their wine bottles 50% off. Schweet. However, the one thing that made me scratch my head that night was that the wine menu was already cost-adjusted to represent the half off savings. A California Chardonnay, which our server declared was a "steal" because other places in town were selling this particular bottle for up to $300, was now just $36. We looked it up online and sure enough, it was running anywhere from $76 to $140, so I'll be darned, he was right.

Up next, the appetizer came out which was a sort of bruschetta smothered with goats cheese, arugula and blackberries. Excellent flavors. Then came the coupe de grace with my wife getting the crabcake and myself getting the NY Strip Steak. I didn't realize how much I love NY Strip Steaks over Ribeyes lately, but this place confirms the tender and juiciness are all still there. The sauce on the top was semi-sweet, but went perfectly with the great beefy flavors. The waiter happily obliged my request of substituting potato puree ( a fancy way of saying mashed potatoes) with the bleu cheese mashed potatoes. These things were absolutely terrific as well. Not too strong, not too weak, just right. The fritters (all two of them) were the star of the show even with so little of them and I'd love to learn how to make them.

The perfect finale to our meal was that although we politely declined dessert (our secret agenda included going to Graeter's afterwards), our perfect waiter brought us the bread pudding dessert anyway saying that we couldn't leave without it. Compliments of the house. This was such a kind and thoughtful gesture and it was almost as if he knew my wife lusts after bread pudding in the first place. Crazy. Of course it was excellent and amazingly, he said that they used Graeter's ice cream on top of it all! It was almost too good to be true.

Our bill came to a high $114 or so, but it was worth every penny. There was nothing I would change and nothing that they could do better as everything was already the best. I'd come here every day if I could and Mesh is one of Indianapolis' few gems in fine dining.

Delicious. The Miller's Farm Amish Chicken was outstanding. Had a try of the steak frites and it was excellent as well. We split the chocolate terrine and bread pudding for dessert. Both were very good. Excellent choice for dinner on Mass Ave.

Mesh is a mess!!!! Decor and service was outstanding! After that not so much.they brought out beautiful warm bread with an exotic dipping sauce, the problem is that was the best and most exciting part of the meal, for lack of a better word the food was just pedestrian and not worth what they charged. Burgers were bland and boring. My dish was some kind of pre- made entree that they just added a boring sauce to. My advice they need to rework the menu

Excellent Service. I can't say enough good things about the service at Mesh. One member of our party uses a wheelchair, and the staff at the restaurant not only went WELL out of their way to accommodate us (calling ahead to help us navigate Mass Ave, reserving parking, opening doors, making sure seating was in the right spot, and even offering to wash the diner's special utensils) but also served us a great meal along the way. When a restaurant makes its guests feel this special, we'll definitely be back.

Good food great atmosphere. I had the halibut which was perfect and gf had white chedder cheeseburger which was also very good. it really is the atmosphere that sets this place apart. beautif building and lighting was perfect - dim but not too dim. price was a steep for what you get but is appropriate for the area. we were well taken care of service-wise.

Horrible. Made a Mother's .... Horrible.
Made a Mother's Day reservation and they misinformed us about the available menu. Did not attempt to accommodate us. Horrible service. Left. Never going back.

Liked due to wonderful wine list and great service from lunch bartender. Will be back for Sundays 1/2 price bottles.

Bartender was dull. Rushed us in and out. Was put out that we didn't eat. If you like a $19 salad, go here.

I had the white cheddar bacon burger and the chocolate terrine and all was delicious. Our server was fabulous - as was the service! A very nice meal!

What a Great Place. We stopped in this place one evening while aimlessly roaming Mass Avenue. We were a bit underdressed, but we were warmly greeted and welcomed. We loved the ambiance right away. I had the Steak Frites which were truly delicious and I would absolutely order again (reasonably priced too at just $20). My friend had the Salmon with a beet puree that was just devine. We opted for dessert which we rarely do, but having had such a wonderful meal we couldn't resist dessert. We shared a Chocolate Terrine that was so heavenly we ate every last bite and licked the plate (just kidding). Absolutely the best meal we have had in Indy in a very long time. We will be returning with friends and family! Better price, better service, better food in downtown Indy- Mesh is currently one of our top choices.

Meh.. Wasn't blown away, wasn't disappointed. I went for lunch so it was worth the money but based on the food I wouldn't go back for dinner.

Food was amazing! Calamari, crab cakes, steak frites- very delicious!! But what made it was our amazing waiter, Matt! Thank you for a great experience!!

Definitely my go-to spot. I'm surprised I haven't written a review about Mesh before, given that I come here about once a week. It's a great place for basically any reason to go out -- lunch, dinner, wine, martini, dessert.. they do everything right and on top of that, their service is always excellent and friendly. You'll always find a friendly local crowd to network with, or you can go outside to the patio in the summer where they have these great fireplaces and set up. Whenever my friends and I plan to meet up, we think of Mesh by default because it's always wonderful. Highly recommend this place if you haven't been -- you'll keep coming back.

A bit expensive, but I had an amazing steak here. Good looking dessert menu also, but too stuffed to eat any more!

We went here for our anniversary dinner, and were not disappointed! Everything single dish was perfectly seasoned and delicious, even the complimentary bread and cocktails. It was a little loud in the bar area where we were seated, but not unbearable. Our waitress was attentive and very nice. Overall, an excellent experience! We will be back! For reference, the dishes we ordered: calamari appetizer, roasted chicken with pomme purée and sugar snap peas, and spicy garlic shrimp fettuccine.

Client dinner. Dinner was outstanding! Where else can you get Cobia? Wine list also good. Attentive service and food cooked spot-on. Had an issue with the first bottle of wine, it was replaced without question, I will be returning. Mass Ave is a great gem in Indianapolis!

Very impressed. Took my wife and daughter to Mesh for dinner on New Year's Eve. It was our first time there, and it did not disappoint. We were very impressed with the ambiance, the wait staff, the food, and the tab. Mesh is definitely on our list of "go again" restaurants. We highly recommend it!

I used to live in Indy and loved Scholars Inn. Ii was pleasantly surprised when taken to this terrific update. We went for lunch- not a huge menu, but the salad I had was fantastic. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the great atmosphere. Definitely worth a try. I'm going for dinner next time!

Wonderful. I absolutely loved Mesh on Mass! We made reservations but had to wait 5-7 minutes to be seated, and even then we were seated at a table in the bar. I was a little disappointed, but I was able to look past it once we received our food. We started with the Wild Mushroom Strudel and split the Seven 25 Salad. The salad was good, but the strudel was amazing.

I had the Tofu entree. Simply named, but the description read "Mushroom Strudel (and damn straight I wanted more of that!), Marinated Asparagus, Arugula, Tobacco Onions, and Tomato Beurre Blanc." It was phenomenal. I also had a couple margaritas that were quite tasty.

They also offer valet, which we took advantage of since we went in the middle of winter and Mass Ave had zero parking spaces. If you're looking for a nice dinner, I'd highly recommend!

I want more!. Was hesitant to try The Mesh because of the higher prices but so glad i took a chance and honestly can't wait to go back. Based on my experience i will gladly pay those prices for food that was so delicious that i'm still remembering the flavors a week later. Arrived around 6pm and the service was excellent. Place was clean, roomy yet personal, and buzzing with guests. i opted for the Pork Belly as an appetizer and the Grilled Shrimp as my entree while my friend choose the Salmon for their entree. I did not care for the oil dipping sauce for the bread (was much too bland); however, things quickly turned around with the beautiful presentation and juicy flavorfulness of the pork belly. And i don't think i have the words to describe my entree dish to do it justice. Beautiful, flavorful and texturally fun. And the portions did not disappoint, which is my biggest fear when dinning out. My friend's salmon was huge! Thank you for a wonderful experience.

I had enjoyed dining at Scholar's Inn multiple times but last night was my first experience with Mesh. Made my reservation on Open Table. That was easy and went smoothly. Hostess greeting and seating was fine. Our server seemed put out by our questions about the menu and a couple of times did not seem to know the answers. He also acted like we were country bumpkins when we wanted to substitute side dishes, explaining that the side dishes were chosen specifically to complement the entire meal. I understand this but if you don't like blue cheese, you don't like blue cheese!!!!!
I will say we all enjoyed our meals and the four of us each had something different, one friend saying the filet mignon was one of the best she has ever had and she has traveled extensively in the US. We will probably try the restaurant again but will not want the same server.

Excellent food but staff could do a little better. This is my fifth time eating at a Cunningham Group Restaurant, the other times have been at Stone Creek in Cincy. I have always left feeling very satisfied with both food and service. We were in Indy and decided to try out one of their other places.
This time the food lived up to expectations but the welcome at the door left a lot to be desired, when we arrived there were no smiles, a very cold frosty looking woman and another lady, we were told our table would be a while, it was 5pm and very quiet, we had booked 5 days in advance, what was the wait for. Anyway the wait was all of about 10 seconds, so no wait at all, it was very strange, but again no smiles when they walked us to the table, no 'enjoy your meal', this is the one thing I have always enjoyed at others restaurants in the group. The waiter arrived and was quite friendly but his service declined throughout the meal,so much so that we all commented at the end of the meal 'someones having a bad day' !!!
But first to the food, we all had a different salad as an appetizer, all were enjoyed, and perfect portion size prior to an main meal. The waiter gave us details of the special, which was beef medallions, with a duck sausage, mash and came with a marsala sauce, 3 of us decided on that as it sounded wonderful, my husband had the pork tenderlion and another friend had the chicken scallopini.
The beef was excellent, however when it arrived there was no duck sausage on any of the plates, we waited for the return of the waiter who at this point had been quite friendly and professional, we asked if the sausage was coming, asked said that it should come with the meal and went off to check what had happened, there was no apology, he just looked a little put out like we were bothering him by asking what had happened.
In the meantime the other meals were wonderful, the tenderloin was excellent, cooked to perfection, and the rice served with raisins was divine . The scalopini was very tasty and cooked well. The waiter returned with the sausage...what a let down. He brought 3 tiny plates over with what looked like left overs, scrappy bits that didnt resemble sausage at all. However it was very, very tasty, but next time presentation needs to be better, and a little apology wouldnt have gone a miss, he said there had been a miscommunication, whatever that meant we were not sure !!.
I had the chocolate terrine for desert which was very light and had the perfect mixture of chocolate flavor and creaminess, this is highly recommended, my friends had the choc creme brulee, they gave it a thumbs up, another success.
Overall it was excellent tasting food, nice wine, the decor is wonderful, the lighting was a little too subdued for me, but we had a corner table so that made it a little darker than other areas but the service needs to improve. You expect a warm welcome and at the very least a smile, no one thanked us as we left either, I would expect better from them, because your food can be the best in the world but if your service is lacking it lets you down big time.

Update 11/25/12, We were back a year later, food excellent once again, in fact even better than last time, but one improvement was the excellent service. Michael , our server for the evening was just what you need, knowledgeable, interested but not in your face . He answered all our questions, knew about each dish that we asked about, made great recommendations. So I guess th we were really unlucky the last time we visited and had poor service, this time we hit the jackpot, great food and unbridled service.

Excellent lobster bisque!. We're out-of-towners and the Mesh menu piqued our interest. I started with the Lobster Bisque, which was absolutely delicious! For my entree, I had the Applewood Chicken Salad. I was really surprised at the size of the salad--it was huge! I was able to finish only half of it after the soup and complimentary bread. It was delicious, though! If I could do it over again, I would have tried one of the smaller salads with my soup, or just the entree salad alone. My partner enjoyed the Cuban Chicken Sandwich, but thought it needed some extra zing. The mango jalapeno relish didn't have enough kick for him. Overall, we had a good meal!

Disappointed again!. I had high hopes for Mesh. Passed on our way down Mass Ave and went in on the fly after reading good things. Wasn't disappointed after walking through the front door. Bar was straight ahead, very modern space there which continued into the dining room where we sat. Crowd was typically cool for the area. Server was knowledgeable and pleasant. After we first ordered drinks could tell this poor guy was overwhelmed with his coverage. Service continued to be slow and spotty but, IMO, not the fault of service.

She ordered beet salad and the sea bass. Appetizers where on. I ordered wedge salad and strip steak. Both entrees came severely overcooked. Clearly frustrated with the back of the house, our server took my steak away and got another one on temperature.

Given bottles of wine were 1/2 price, I asked if I could take a double pour and give the rest to service. I was told no. Interesting practice at a place that considers itself fine dining. I received the energy that this was not a good place to work.....translation....great bones potentially very bad experience. I would give it a pass if I was at a pub or more lower end casual spot but I think when you go in at $150 for a couple you should feel great when you leave. Not so at MESH. My recommendation....continue down the street....R Bistro or Black Market awaits!

Delicious. Great food. Goat cheese fritter is amazing.

Kitchen needs work in listening to servers. Had nuts on my salad despite asking for none. Could have been dangerous if I was allergic. Heard of this happening before. But it didn't ruin my meal.

And the bread with spicy dipping sauce is the perfect addition to the meal.

Try it!. Great menu items, good atmosphere! Great place for a business dinner!

Thank Goodness for Mesh!. We only live a few blocks away, and we are thrilled to welcome Mesh to the neighborhood! The food is sensational, the decor lovely and the service good. What makes it a stand out is that we can stop in for a po-boy and a beer (check $15 bucks) or a three course gormet meal (check $100 bucks). They do both really well.

Delicious Every Time. I've been to Mesh three times and each experience has been great. The service is consistently good, presentation is wonderful, and the food is always delicious. At Mesh you'll pay more than the usual chain restaurant, but you'll be glad you did.

Not Like The Others.... Perhaps because I eat so often at Mesh's sister restaurants (Charbono's and Boulder Creek), I set my expectations too high. The food our party had were dishes we could have cooked at home and a few of the dishes were served at luke warm (despite this not being a busy hour). Additionally, the service was no where near what one can expect at Charbono's or Boulder. Rarely do I judge a location based on one visit, but for the high cost and such poor service, this is our one and only time at Mesh.

First time. Exceptional food from appetizers ( fish tacos, crab cakes and cheese schmear) to entrees - great lemon sole and scallops. Derek was the best waiter in a long time. My new favorite place
Lorand
Don't get this place. I just don't get all the positive reviews for this place...I don't write bad reveiws after a first date...regrettably most of my dates do...however....having consumed here several times for dinner and lunch....I am not a big fan.

I want to enjoy and support the local places.

Most recent dinner with a lovely young lady of excellent taste....except in men... We were a bit put off by the disinterested and personality bereft greeting at the door. We were then shown a table that was in the window and being blasted by photon torpedoes of light....the hostess seemed put out trying to find us an alternative...non sun screen necessary.... table in a 50% occupied space.

Our server was over the top enthusiastic...and one of those people so enamored of their own witticisms that they don't listen...and talk over you...which probably describes moi as well....

Upon the rapturous recommendation of our bff server...we chose the calamari...it was o.k.... I don't get these places that serve a fried product....that depends on the frying process for texture...and then coat it in a sauce..which quickly renders an otherwise fine product a breaded gelatinous mess.....why not serve the sauce on the side ??? The sauce I found to be rather bland...tasted very nearly out of the bottle sweet chilli suace..the calamari were a bit suspicious as they were perfectly uniform in size...and not a tentacle to be seen....can't imagine they were fresh off the sysco truck...but looked and tasted that way.

Dinner salad for the lady was substantial and generous....although she felt the blue cheese/gorgonzola....was not of top quality....and should have been added to the salad at room temp....cold blue cheese often loses some of the nuances of flavor....additionally....she thought (i agree) that the raspberry vinaigrette....had that fake sweet...thick...consistancy of a bottled product..and just lacked the nice zing of similar efforts we might try at home.

My lobster bisque was superb...a bit on the salty side...but...I don't use salt in anything...so even a paltry amount of seasoning can taste salty.

Her entree of lamb...was ordered medium...and showed up quite rare....not a huge deal...but she prefers medium as it allows the fats to melt a bit...and she probably cut away 30% of the offering in fat....this is fat that should have been trimmed in the kitchen during prep stage.

My duck confit with lardons was neither. The lardons were not threads as is typicall...but seemed to be bits of smoked bacon...typically smoked products are not used as a lardon...perhaps I missed something. Duck leg just didn't have the flavor and consistancy associated with typical confit....and the few accomanying vegatables did not taste as if they had been cooked in duck fat....obviously there is a lot of room for interpretation of traditional cooking techniques in this age of culinary experimentation...so perhaps my palate is too damn old !

Wines were interesting..but..neither of us know enough about wine to comment on the offerings.

I don't need...nor want .....every junior manager wanna be in training disingenuously inquiring as to the quality of the food...if I have a problem...I will discuss it with the server...who will then determine if a manager is necessary.

Once again....i cannot beleive the total disinterest of the the folks at the hostess stand for our departure....too damn busy staring at her smart phone..

Sometimes a restaurant and the patron just don't mesh....and it is often the patrons fault...with exaggerated expectations..and a crappy attitude....so...probably us the other night...and probably me during my other visits..
Brad Ayers
Food was good. Service was sloooow. I think they went hunting for my duck after I ordered it.

YUM. OMG... I stopped in for a drink and they have awesome "bites" for $2-... and they are worth every penny at 11pm. I had a ham biscuit with gruyure cheese and mustard. It was real country ham and a healthy portion. Very good... will definitely go back!

Eh.... We went there around 10pm on a Sunday night. We ate food off of their $2 bar menu, which was quite good especially considering the price. Nice variety of food, especially for my pescatarian friend.

However -- the entire experience was ruined for us for two reasons: (1) my two friends and I ordered a Maker's Mark Manhattan each. They showed up as nothing more than a splash of bourbon over a lot of ice and topped with a cherry. If there was any vermouth or bitters in there, we could not taste it (and we drink Manhattans often). Truly a let down. (2) the bartender, who was a good 20 feet away from us, was talking -- LOUDLY -- to two patrons at the bar about his politics. Disparaging, ignorant and totally uninformed comments. I don't care what his opinions of the Obama healthcare reform is. Not a pleasant atmosphere.

All that said, we would have ordered at least one more round of drinks -- possibly two -- but chose to go home instead.

A little over-rated. Food service ridiculously slow but nice atmosphere. Not sure if it's worth another try.

High quality. My boyfriend took me here for my birthday at my request. The overall experience was very good. We got there 20 minutes early, yet they were still able to seat us right away on a Friday night. The fish tacos appetizer was amazing, very fresh with a creamy cilantro sauce that made it a bit messy. I had the short rib slow cooker sandwich that came with sweet potato chips. I loved my sandwich. It had a big mound of meat and was covered with provolone and other toppings. My bf had the Amish chicken, which was also good. His portion was perhaps a bit smaller than we were expecting. The goat cheese ravioli that were served under the chicken were so good.

By signing up for their email club, I got a coupon for a free birthday dessert. The bf tried the chocolate marjolaine that everyone on UrbanSpoon seems to rave about. I went with the bread pudding. His was too rich for my taste; I'm definitely glad that I went with the bread pudding that was drizzled with a sweet caramel sauce and served with vanilla ice cream.

Servings aren't enormous, but we definitely left feeling stuffed since we had an appetizer, complimentary bread, entrees, and desserts. With a couple of beers, the total tab was under $70. For the quality of food, this was a very good deal.

Fancy. Good food & great atmosphere. If you are looking for a nice dinner out for a special occasion, this is the place to go. They have good food & have private booth seating upstairs. Very pricey...so be prepared to spend a lot.

Love the food and decor!!! But service is lacking!!!

Tasty, Somewhat Uppity. I had the filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly. My only slight complaint is the atmosphere of the restaurant. Mesh is trendy and definitely comes off as a little uppity to those of us who are looking for great food in a relaxed and comfortable location.

I loved the food the envirement the wine, the bread.. The price is fair and the service is fast and helpfull. I will come back for more. I wish they have more vegetarian options though Great place!!

YUM, YUM, YUM!!. My husband and I ate here last night, and loved everything we ordered!
We started with the Tuna Bites...great pieces of fish with just the right amount of spice and sweet.
I had the Lobster bisque,,,creamy and very flavorful!
For our entrees, I had the Steak Salad. The steak was very flavorful and prepared perfectly.
My husband had the Steak Frites and loved the fries.... the sirloin was good.
Service was excellent. Our waiter was very knowledgable and offered suggestions.
There were so many other interesting combinations of food on the menu that we can't wait to go back and try them all!

The crabcakes are to die for!! I only got the app portion, but next time I'm getting the entree portion. I could eat them all day!

Breath of Fresh Air...... This will be short and to the point. I wish they would have changed a little bit more so I didn't feel like I was in Scholars but they still did an amazing job. Service was great and quick. The pictures on the wall is all I could complain about. And if that's all I could that find I didn't like, then I'm happy!! Good Job Mesh!! My wife and I will return. Thanks for making up for the bad experience we had earlier in the night at a new place downtown.

First timer! Very good! I had the shortribs and they were very good. My friends had the scallops which were excellent! Our seating was in the bar which was fun and loud. Will come back!

Two thumbs up!. Mesh on Mass is a great place to stop in for dinner, drinks, or just a quick bite from their bar menu! My first visit to Mesh was just after Christmas. I was very pleased to see that they have a $2.00 Bar Menu. It is hard to find a non-chain restaurant with a special as great as this menu. The $2.00 menu offers sweet potato chips, pretzel bites, three different sliders, three varieties of flatbreads, and three kinds of tacos. Each item is only two dollars!
I ordered two fish tacos…which were delicious! Each taco consisted of a lightly seasoned fish fillet topped with slaw and a cool mayo-based dressing. I love fish tacos and these are now at the top of my list. My husband ordered the shrimp po'boy, which came with sweet potato chips and a chive mayonnaise. These sweet potato chips are crunchy and flavorful and the mayo is refreshing and tasty. While Mesh does have a full menu of salads, burgers, sandwiches, and steaks, which other members of our dinner party ordered and loved, the regular menu can get a little pricey.
On our second visit to Mesh, my husband and I ordered only from the bar menu. This way we were able to sample more of Mesh's selections. I will also add here that Mesh on Mass has a rockin' sweet tea; not so easy to find here in the Midwest.
I highly recommend Mesh on Mass to anyone looking for a delicious and affordable bite to eat.

Very good. We went to Mesh as part of the Devour Downtown special. While the friends who accompanied my husband and me said that some restaurants hide their Devour Downtown specials, Mesh put them front and center with a special menu. I had a "chicken pot pie" - an urban take on an old favorite -- chicken and vegetables wrapped in puff pastry and piled on mashed potatoes. It was excellent as was my husband's blackened swordfish. The service was friendly and efficient. I'll miss the Scholar's at that location, but Mesh is a nice substitute.

Good Food, Slow Service. My experience with Mesh is that the food is really delicious and an interesting mix foods available. I've had the shrimp po'boy and it was great, and the sweet potato chips were a great change up from the norm. My lunchmates also loved the meals they got, which included the fish tacos.

On the other hand, the service is incredibly slow. The waitstaff is plenty pleasant, but the kitchen takes its time, which is a real problem if you're visiting at lunch and only have an hour. It's particularly odd given that it doesn't seem to be an especially popular lunch spot, so there weren't many other customers. My lunchmates went again and still had the same problem with slow service, so it doesn't appear to be a one-time problem.

If you have the spare time, it's definitely someplace to check out. The interior is classy-chic and the food is delicious. Just don't expect to be in and out in an hour.

Delightful!. Planning to eat before a show, our group decided to try Mesh. Our server was imformative and attentive, making sure we made our curtain time.

The menu is intriguing, offering a little something for everyone. I, however, was disconcerted by the selection called "Pork Belly", joking that the name kind of put me off my feed. In the spirit of reviewing, however, I took a chance on Pork Belly and was delighted with the white bean cassoulet, the demi/balsamic reduction and, you guessed it, the pork belly. Delish! My dinner mates all insisted their food was sublime. Lobster bisque, the Seven 25 salad, crab cakes and the Berkshire were all a hit.

l was surprised to see a happy hour bar menu for $2. I thought there was a law in Indiana that disallowed reduced liquor prices for a portion of the day. We'll see how long that lasts. Anyway, am looking forward to my next visit.

Would try once again for lunch. My husband and I tried this restaurant with our daughter and her boyfriend. I had shrimp and grits, lobster bisque and a bloody mary. All were very good. My husband ordered the omelette, which the menu said came with toast and fruit. No fruit appeared, and the waitress seemed put out that he asked for some. The fruit brought to him was a garnish. Everyone else seemed pleased with their meals. Service was slow, and our waitress was rather unfriendly. My daughter said service was slow when she had lunch there a day before. I would try this restaurant again either for lunch or dinner, but my husband has decided once is enough. He has decided for omelettes he will only go to Patachou.

Mesh made my birthday great!. Dined at mesh for my birthday. The food was great as was the service. I love the decor. It's very hip but not obnoxious and the warm color scheme makes it feel very cozy. I just wish there were more booths to help with the noise. It was quite noisy in there.

Good food but prices are high. Went to Mesh while visiting friends in Indy and it was a nice change of pace from normal places I would go.

Food was good but the portions were a bit small for the price but what I expect from this type of establishment.

Good addition to Mass Ave. I was sad to see Scholars Inn go but Mesh is a good substitute. I thought it was a little pricey for what we got but the food was good. Completely remodeled with good atmosphere.

Wow, What a treat. Let me just start of with, the Chocolate Marjolaine is the best way to finish your meal.

We started off with the calamari, I had the crab cakes, Which I can say is all crab no fillers. My wife had the scallops which she liked a lot.

We finished with the Chocolate Marjolaine, as i have already stated is out of this world. A dessert that you will be fighting over to get the last bite.

Some may say its over priced, but remember you get what you pay for.

My wife and I went here the week that it opened and have recommended it to everyone we know. The food was fantastic, from the bread to start to the desert to finish everything was exquisite. I would recommend the crab cakes. We have been there 3 times already and are planning on going back tomorrow.

YummmmMesh!. My boyfriend and I went for drinks a couple weeks ago and had a fantastic time. The bartenders were super friendly and knowledgable. Everyone was smiling and happy at the bar as well as those working behind it. The restaurant's atmosphere is amazing. Very modern and trendy and the track lighting was nice and mellow. We went back for dinner before a concert on Saturday and had another great experience. The food was great. I got the lobster bisque and then the duck confit. He had the sea bass. Everything was cooked perfectly and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. We will definitely be back.

Good downtown addition. Scholars Inn always seemed somewhat . . . awkward? in this space, but Mesh has made it all comfortable. It's a lively, fun place with a nice menu, attentive service and well-prepared food.

Edited: Great for dinner - losing me at other times.... I could not have been any happier with my dining experience at Mesh. My husband and I couldn't stop raving about how it was one of the best dinners out that we had experienced in Indianapolis.

I'm kicking myself for not remembering their names, but our server was training another server that evening and they were both fabulous. Incredibly well-informed and helpful in our decision making process, as well as incredibly pleasant. The manager was also circulating through the restaurant, which was great to see.

We started off with a gin and tonic and a Manhattan to accompany our shrimp cocktail. Everything was just as it should be. I threw out a few wines that I had been considering to go with dinner, but the server and I settled on a bottle of Red Zin that he assured me would accompany both of our dishes perfectly. My husband ordered the Duck Confit, and I ordered the Chicken Scallopini. Both were delicious, but my husband's looked and tasted so rich and decadent that I was slightly jealous.

For dessert, we shared the Chocolate Marjolaine. It was awesome and busy and played to a number of our senses. I loved the sorbet that accompanied it.

All in all, and I know I share this opinion with some other reviewers, but I feel like Mesh filled in a fine dining gap that Mass Ave had been missing. Our bill came out to be a little pricey, but it was totally worth it. Our entire experience, every course, the bottle of wine, the atmosphere, all felt very luxurious, but relaxing and fun at the same time. The service was superb. My advice is for folks to go to Mesh now, because they have room to raise their prices for the quality of the food and service, so go while its a steal!

Edit: I have returned to Mesh several times since my wonderful dining experience and my opinion has gone down and down. I went to the cocktail hour with a girl friend, and though we made clear that we wanted to order another $2 appetizer, the bartender took our menu while we weren't paying attention and didn't say anything like "you only have a couple more minutes to order". Instead, when we called him on being sneaky, we were told that the chef hates the $2 specials and would be mad if he turned them in last minute. Instead of ordering another round and a regular appetizer, we changed locations.

I have been here for brunch twice. The first time I got the Eggs Benedict, and it was good, but I was hoping for at an one accompaniment - like fruit or something. Not much bang for your buck. With that in mind, I went back to brunch and ordered the omelet. My friend and I laughed when they came out because they were like one-egg omelets and looked so small and funny on the plate. We left hungry and out of too much money for what we got. You don't even get two slices of toast! Maybe I'm just too American and expect too much food on my plate, but I don't need Mesh to be teaching me that lesson. The bloody mary, however, is out of this world.

Third time here and I'll be back several times, regularly! The food, the people, and the atmosphere are all great!

As a happy hour connoisseur, I had to check out Mesh's advertised $2 bar menu from 3-6pm. Our group tried probably a third of the menu, and the fish tacos reigned supreme (though they're second to Adobo's). The portions were tiny, so this would be fine for a ladies night, but the three gentlemen in my party were left hungry even after three dishes each. Compared to the happy hour gold standard (McCormick & Schmicks), this place earned a "meh" rating around the table. The dishes were tasty but so tiny you'd be better off buying an entree if you were at all hungry. That's not to say Mesh isn't good, or that dinner here wouldn't be fabulous -- we just have high happy hour standards and would likely pick somewhere else next time. I'll probably return, especially on a night with drink specials, but it'll never be at the top of my list.

Loved it!. Have never been disappointed in a Cunningham restaurant and MESH is NO EXCEPTION! I'm more "Rural then Urban" and I had a bit of a time with some of the "ingredients", but our server, Jocelyn, was very knowledgeable and extremely patient! I had the Chicken Scaloppini and it was delicious!! The restaurant was absoutely gorgeous. Very nice addition to an "up and coming" area!

Great Addition. For a brand new restaurant, our night out was executed almost flawlessly. The food was delicious and the layout/ambiance is perfect.

Everyone was extremely friendly, but the hostess went above and beyond. She felt bad that she had to seat us at the first table in the restaurant and that we wouldn't be able to see the rest of the new decor. She ended up reserving us a spot on the open-air couches by the back fireplace for after dinner, which, I'm sure to the owner's delight, made us buy a few more cocktails before ending our experience. Great time and a great new restaurant. I hope someday I can get a big bowl of the cassoulet that was served under my short ribs. It could be an entree in its own right!

Exactly what Mass Ave needed. Mass Ave is a downtown destination for some and part of the nightly dog walk for others. We fall into the latter category, living downtown and regulars at the restaurants in the neighborhood.

Mesh on Mass fills the much-more-than-a-sports-bar and not fine-dining void created by the usual spots on Mass Ave. I had the tofu and the husband had the steak frites. Both were delicious. If I could do meatless like that at home, I'd be a vegetarian. Very tasty.

The atmosphere is unlike anything else in the area too. It is obvious why it took so long to transform the space from the previous SI. Mess on Mass is as comfortable as it is welcoming. We checked their website before we went and they claimed flip-flops and formal were equally at home and they were right.

I can't wait to try it again. I wonder if anything beats the tofu?

My favorite addition was the onion relish. They were sort of like caramelized and a little pickled at the same time. Wow, I really liked this sandwich

Oh yeah, on top of a good food experience, the service was really great.

I was not a fan of Scholars Inn, especially after they decided to rebrand the place as "SI." Weren't they aware of Sports Illustrated? Anyway, my feelings on that now-defunct restaurant are neither here nor there because today I'm writing about the new re
