This place was really good. We definitely will go back. The food was fresh and cooked well. The only thing we thought could have been better was their chicken dish. We thought it didn't have a lot of flavor unlike the other dishes. I would def. modify this dish. This place will go under our favorites and will return!

Great spot to satisfy oyster cravings. We enjoyed the atmosphere though it was pretty loud due to the crowd. Staff was polite and professional. The oysters were fun, we really appreciated the opportunity to try and compare different ones. Fried shrimp and lobster were very tasty and comforting. The ceviche appetizer was really sweet, consider that when ordering. Unfortunately, we had an issue when staff served us crab cake that we didn’t order. Our server decided to leave it since it was already on our table and couldn’t be served to anyone else. However, we found out after paying that we were charged for the dish we didn’t order and didn’t want. The cake was also just not good and not worth the price we paid.

Their oysters were bomb! I could have had me a couple of dozen. They were so fresh and clean… easy and tasty to eat! The ambiance of the restaurant was classy and romantic. Their bar and iced seafood were beautiful to look at. Our group ended up ordering different small plates and oyster. We didn’t get to try any of their entrees. Their menu is focused on the shareables or tapas style presentation. If you’re lookin for something light and to enjoy the atmosphere, this would be the place!

1751 Sea and Bar is a restaurant that offers seasonally inspired menus featuring the highest-quality seafood available from the local Gulf coast and beyond. They have valet parking available, but there is plenty of free parking in the same parking lot with the neighboring businesses. Their name is a nod to the English Gin Act of 1751, an ode to their vast assortment of over 230 different gins from around the world. They want to be known as Houston's premier gin bar. We ordered: [COCKTAILS] +Pear Off (Ford's Gin, St. George's Spiced Pear Liqueur, Vanilla, Lemon, and Jura) for $17 - This is served with a slice of pear. I wish I tasted more pear in the drink itself, but it was still good. - 4/5 +Hibiscus and the Bee (Hibiscus infused Barhill Tom Cat Gin, Thyme Syrup, Ruhbarb Bitters, and Smoked Cherry Wood - Tory Parker) for $17 - This is their version of an Old Fashioned cocktail. It's served super smokey, but it's forgettable. I'd skip this one next time. - 3/5 [MOCKTAILS - ZERO PROOF] +Sailor Moon (Seadlip Grove 42, Grapefruit Juice, Honey, and Ghost Pepper Tincture) for $14 - This was super sweet and a touch spicy with a salt-rimmed glass if you want to mix it up. - 4/5 [OYSTERS] +Gulf Oyster (Wild, large, pure gulf/river brine, and classic) for $2.50 - These were massive and a touch fishy. - 3.5/5 +Brewster, MA (Bottom cages, medium, sea salt liquor, firm texture, and clean finish) for $3.50 - These ended up being my favorite out of all oysters. - 5/5 +Sunken Meadow, MA (Aussie long-line farmer, small, deep cup, and meaty with a crisp brine finish) for $3.50 - 4/5 +Uncle Bobby, MA (Bottom cages, small, deep cup, crisp meat, and a sweet stony finish) - 4.5/5 +Moondancer, ME (Suspension cages, deep cup, tender texture, balance of sweetness and salt, and perfect with a gin martini) for $4.00 - These were the smallest and most expensive. - 4.5/5 ***It's really hard to rate and distinguish between raw oysters depending on the extras you can add to them, but you will be fine sticking with the Brewster, MA. [RAW] +Hamachi Crudo (Grapefru ponzu, pink lady apple, green pepper, and chive oil) for $15 - This was the tastiest fish of the entire evening. There's only 4 small pieces, but it was really good with the citrus flavor. - 4.5/5 [SMALL AND SHAREABLE] +New Zealand Mussels (Miso sake broth, uni butter, and scallion crouton) for $31 - The mussels were massive. In fact, they were so big, they didn't sit in the broth. The broth was very limited to the bottom of the bowl. I dipped the dry mussels into the broth, and it was just okay. I also ordered a side of fries to dip into the broth, but it didn't add much. I really wished the broth was tastier, and they added much more of it so the mussels drowned in it. - 2.5/5 +Side of Fries for $8 - These were unique. They were thickly cut, had a very crispy outer layer, and were very potato-y. I may have tasted a touch of vinegar? I liked them. - 4.5/5 +Beet Salad (Labneh, spiced hazelnuts, and mint vinaigrette) for $14 - 4/5 +1751 Calamari (Alabama white sauce, jalapeño glaze, and cilantro) for $16 - 4/5 [CLASSICS] +Seared Maine Scallops (Honeynut creme, delicata squash, artichoke, and cinnamon salsify) for $39 - 4/5 Overall, 1751 Sea and Bar was a fun and amazing experience. The service was incredible. Majority of the food and drinks were good. The Pear Off cocktail and the Hamachi Crudo were highlights for me. I'd stay away from the Hibiscus and the Bee cocktail and the New Zealand Mussels. As everything is seasonal here, these may not even be on the menu when you read this, so it doesn't matter. All-in-all, this is a great restaurant for gin and seafood in Houston, and I would highly recommend checking them out!

Had early dinner about a week ago. Atmosphere 5/5 - upscale interior with large bar area to the left as you come in and a small ice bar in the back for oysters, etc. Don’t recall if it had outdoor dining available. Service 6/5 - I felt like from the time we sat down until the time we left we had great consistent service. They were happy to help us pair drinks with our appetizers and meal. We were offered samples of some of their other appetizers they offer, which were delicious. They informed us of what fish/oysters that were currently available and spoke to us about their seasonal menus that change. Drinks 5/5 - The drinks were absolutely delicious and unique. They have some higher end bourbons that I saw and nice selection of wines. Food 6/5 - Their menu items are basically broken down into appetizers, small plates and large plates. We started with a few appetizers (oysters and hamachi), which were fresh and perfect. We moved on to the mussels that were so tender and the broth was so good we had sop it up with our bread. Lastly we had the crispy skin bass and it was incredible. The skin so perfectly crispy, but the fish not over cooked. Dessert was a goat cheese white chocolate cheesecake that was so smooth and creamy. It is a perfect date night destination. We can’t wait to go back.

Wow! Such attention to detail and care for ingredients. We were fighting to be the person who got to finish the heirloom tomato dish, beautiful. And the seafood, all carefully and skillfully prepared to burst with flavor. Lots of great and unique options on the wine list. Very friendly and attentive staff. Can’t wait to go back.

From the hostess to the drinks food and service everything was impeccable. This spot is very intimate. The old fashioned was Outstanding. We had 2 orders of the oysters that's how amazing they were. The main courses had parties going on in our mouths. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

1751 is a unique experience with amazing service, and a delicious menu that is always changing. While the menu is usually seafood heavy, even this non-seafood eater can always find things to satisfy. (And I always try my friend's dishes anyway and am often pleasantly surprised!)

This place knows seafood! Cannot say enough good things!! Service was good and food was amazing! We had the octopus and calamari as appetizers, highly recommend! For our main dish we had the halibut and the scallops. Both were equally delicious and cooked to perfection. As a side we had the Brussels sprouts, i could’ve ate these as a main dish. If you want good seafood please come here!

This place is so delicious! The brussel sprouts are amazingly delicious! I get them every single time. The cookies and cream cake is pretty yummy. The hot chicken karaage and calamari is yummy too. The seafood salad was eh. Service was a little slow but not terrible. Would definitely go back again and again.
