I come to this plaza quite often because of Fat Bao and Luna's Pizza. I've passed by Oui Desserts a few times but never had the chance to try them until yesterday.
Came here last night around 8:45pm because I was craving desert. The store was pretty empty, guessing since they were about to close soon. Very cute little shop, a few chairs and tables for customers to sit and enjoy their deserts. It took me quite some time to pick because I was indecisive, they had quite a few selections. I ended up picking the Fruit Tart $5.50 and the Red Velvet Cake $5.00 and took it Togo.
Tried the red velvet cake first, the cake was more on the dry side, but if you eat it with the cream filling, it wasn't so bad. The only thing I didn't like was that there wasn't enough filling between the two slices of cake.
The fruit tart was great! I really enjoyed it! The filling had a cream brûlée texture and you can see little black dots (guessing from vanilla?). It wasn't overly sweet, and the fruits were pretty fresh I'd say.
Oui Desserts was something I just decided to try on the spur of the moment. I frequently use the Kirby area businesses, like Office Depot, Supercuts, Vision, and dining establishments such as Khyber Restaurant. I always passed by Oui Desserts as I never had the time to try them out. But this time I did! I entered and was greeted immediately. The interior was small and rather cozy, but could accommodate a half dozen shoppers and diners comfortably. Most seem to come to buy and leave, rather than buy and stay, but shoppers have a choice, so that's good. There was only one person there, presumably the business owner. She was friendly and prompt, and explained what deals they had as this was my first time there. I appreciated her courtesy and making me feel like a valued customer. It is a high end dessert/bake shop, and the prices reflected that, but they were reasonable for the quality goodies. I ended spending around $25 for a dozen coffee macaroons, 3 good sized pecan/chocolate cookies, and a double layer single serve German Chocolate Cake. Now at home I remembered the reason I usually don't shop at bakeries too often! If the goodies are really good, I'll eat a bunch of them at once, then suffer later cutting back on other foods and doubling up on exercises to balance the excess calories. I ended up eating the German Chocolate cake and all three cookies, plus 3 coffee macaroons, in just 2 servings 12-16 hours apart. That was a lot of calories, but they were so delicious, I couldn't hold out for long! Well, Oui Desserts is now on my list of cool bake shops, and I'll have to work on willpower!
A little bit pricey, but a great service and great French patisseries.
A very welcoming place, nice coffee and great dessert. Awesome decorations. Friendly costumer service.
Great place for that after meal dessert. They got cookies, macaroons, eclairs, and more. Macaroons are delicious and packed with flavor. I'm more of a cookie person and I recommend them here. I used to go to the Dessert Gallery, but these cookies taste a lot fresher. They're also reasonably priced at 1.50/each and are a good sized cookie.
This is by far the best dessert in Houston! If you haven't had their fruit tart, you should try it now. Knowing what I know about it, it's a bucket list item. I love their cookies, lemon meringue, pecan pie (the best ever), beignets, macaroons.... This place is a dessert staple period.
You absolutely cannot go wrong with any dessert here. I particularly love their Tiramisu, Creme Brulee, and tarts. But my absolute favorite is Strawberry Shortcake. Heavenly! One recommendation - please call to check availability of a dessert in case you are planning an impromptu visit.
Overall great experience. As soon as I walked through the door I was greeted with a warming hello and a bountiful amount of information with each dessert. The creme brulee was spectacular and the macaroon were extraordinary! Jennifer has some amazing desserts and she also has a great deal for a dozen macaroon, only $1 a piece!
Amazing Pastry Chef!! The cake was fluffy not dry, the cookies were very good (right on the perfect line between chewy and crispy) and the pie tasted like grandma's. All in all very satisfied and will return. Also they have a rewards program and take custom orders :)
Excellent desserts. One of my favorite places in town.
I particularly like their lemon meringue tart, their Napoleons and their eclairs. I like the custard they use since I'm not a big fan of the creme/Coolwhip that most places use.
I also like their macarons the most of the places I've tried in town.
I will say that like most (not all) of their stuff, tends towards a rustic aesthetic so some of their items are not quite as glittery or pretty as some places but the flavours are superior.
