A small eatery! Most dishes on lunch menu are $6.50! What a bargain! And the quality is good. We love the garlic stir-fried green beans, stir-fried bitter melon egg, & steamed chicken (low cal) all for under $30! Considering the price & quality, we’d be back for sure!
This is a conflicting review, lol.
We waited for 75 minutes before our first dish comes out. Then 10 minutes before the next one. My buddy didn’t want to give it higher than a 3 star bc they took so long. But for the price? It’s very affordable.
We ordered the salted pepper fish, good. They use a softer batter, which I don’t prefer. Fish was good in general.
The black pepper sauce fish? Pretty awesome as well as the eggplant. The second best items were the snow pea leaves. The weakest dish was the mopo tofu, average, but some people may like the softer tofu dish.
Overall for the food and price, 4 star. For the service, 2 star. I hypothesize that the waiter/help staff put our ticket at the bottom behind 3 other tables and we got screwed in time. So either they needed more help or this guy messed up.
Random: the light fixtures have masking tape holding up the length. The AC is set to 79/80, lol. The walls are 1990s pink. The bathroom could use more soap. Their extra napkins and take out containers are sitting in the dining area. But..the food and prices are great.
Great food and good price . Especially salted pork chops . A little bit slow on service and the wait for food come out but no wear can beat the lunch price like this place with deliciousness food .
I would highly recommend coming for their lunch specials, which is $6.50 per plate. The salt and pepper fish is really good and the beef and egg noodles are a go to item as well.
What a surprise hole in the wall. Chinese food is like Mexican….everybody has an opinion. So why is this restaurant a place to try? Simple Cantonese style food. This is not an extravagant restaurant selling you an environment, this is just simple home food. Simple is not easy to do, because over seasoning is so common in asian cuisine yet R House feels like authentic home cooked meals. Our family loves traveling and eating in Houston ( from San Antonio) and we love trying new restaurants…. This will be a comeback
Most of the Cantonese food that we tried were good. We ordered the scallion pancakes, bo luc lac (shaking beef), and pork with tomatoes - all were good. My daughter ordered the udon soup and she said that it’s really bland.
We also had a dinner meeting there and ordered a lot of dishes that were mostly delicious.
Amazing little Chinese restaurant. Reasonably priced. With great variety of dishes on their menu. I wish I lived in Houston for this type of restaurants. Also surrounded by ice cream shops and a great super market. Will definitely return.
They serve very good authentic Chinese Cantonese style cuisine. The taste of the food is exceptional even without the MSG per our request.
This is one of the best places in houston when it comes to Asian cuisine. Me and my friends had a fun night eating in here. Their service is best, and the food is economical.
The food here is pretty good! I came here right after the winter storm and it was very crowded and short staffed, but they managed to serve everyone eventually. Their tea is also very good. It’s a good restaurant for large groups.
