First time tried Omakase by Chef Diego for my birthday and it was astonishing! Previously went for sushi rolls and loved it (despite the restaurant being far from my house), but after trying the chef chosen variety of appetizers, sushi and sashimi will be back more often. The dishes we tried were so distinct – fusion of Japanese cuisine with modern touches. Plates were decorated as art creations; taste surprised and satisfied the palate, the textures were marvelously fused. Perfectly combined flavors and highest grade seafood were perfect for celebrating my special occasion, want to return for more. The place may not appear luxury or chic but food definitely is the top quality. It has been open for many years and still provides excellent quality and service (as sushi connoisseur I noticed the trend for quality to do down for many high end sushi restaurants). Definitely will be back and highly recommend as best place for Omakase in Houston.

The food was very tasty and flavorful. I also had some mixed robata that was great. The Margarita with Sake was a fun different drink to try. I love the fried green tea ice cream. The service was excellent. Oh, and the fried rice was delicious!

This is my first time at Azuma. I will note that my experiences with sushi are typically at AYCE joints or somewhere cheap/affordable like Oishi. The food has been really good. Even though the sushi/fish is more expensive than I’m accustomed to, they have a wide variety of hot and cold appetizers that my friends and I really enjoyed and filled up on. Special shout out for the fried calamari at a mere $8. (This place easily warrants at least two $$s in terms of cost) I wanted to make a special mention to our server Cha-Cha (please excuse the spelling) - she is absolutely incredible with superb service. Very welcoming and revisiting at the perfect cadence, we never wanted for food, drink, or water. If I may be so cheeky, I would recommend her as your server if you do come visit. Atmosphere is super cozy. They have some inspiration from original Japanese architecture that really helps the restaurant stand apart from the plethora of other Houston restaurants. Do you like cocktails? This is a great place to have fun with friends and coworkers over an array of fun cocktails! Well mixed and modestly strong, I will definitely be revisiting this establishment with friends.

Great japanese restaurant! Food came out quickly and the food was fresh and delicious. I ordered sashimi and the sashimi was very fresh and worth. Has to be one of the freshest sashimi I have had. Vegetable tempura was also very crunchy and had a great variety of fried vegetables.

Great rolls and options. Menu is a little hard to read but my eyes could use some work. Service is standard. Atmosphere is good, great decoration but could use a more centralized feeling. Felt a little all over the place.

We went on a Saturday night so it was crowded but thats to be expected! We got the o-Toro sampler that was very good! Then the crazy roll (that was good), caterpillar roll (didn't have a lot of eel but was decent), chirashi (very very good!), and for desert we got a banana tempura with ice cream (thr banana didn't taste like anything ans the batter was really thick, the ice cream was good, just didn't taste like matcha). Overall a 4/5!

My new favorite Japanese restaurant. Friendly, fast, efficient service. Everything we ordered was very tasty. Pork belly amazing. Go for the robata menu - delicious. But we tried 5 different things - all very good. Definitely will be back.

I love their pork belly don! It was taken off the menu, but our waitress said I could still order it! Overall, a great experience. Especially our waitress. She was very informative of what was fresh, and service was great! Would recommend this place~
