Wow! Loved their breakfast menu. Just like home. I ordered a fried egg, grits, sausage, one pancake, and coffee a la carte. All the breakfast choices looked great, but I loved I could create the size meal I wanted.
Very good food! The black bean burger was bomb. If you’re very hungry, go for the astrodome! BBQ sauce on point! The punches looked good too. Cozy vibe. Nice tunes. Would def come again and again.
Delicious unique Sichuan spot in midtown with authentic options for everyone. Definitely worth the price for the type of food you’re getting and portion size. Each dish can feed at least two people. We had lots of variety, but my favorites were the Beijing Duck, the 3 Flavor Pepper Chicken, and the Eggplant dish. Service is good, and the ambiance is nice. Would recommend for a family style dinner outing!
If you're looking for a quiet workday lunch spot to escape the busy city, Spicy Girl is a great place in Midtown! Their crab rangoons are some of the best ones I've ever had, and their lunch specials are filling. They offer healthy options, such as steamed vegetables and white rice. We had the lunch special with shrimp and sauteed vegetables, crab rangoons, egg rolls, and lo mein with beef, chicken, and shrimp. All were very delicious!
The best part? Our waitress, Kim! She was very kind, knowledgeable, and professional. She made us feel special. They also validate parking, in case you're wondering.
Step aside Mala, Cooking Girl, and Pepper Twins. While I like each of those spots for different dishes, the 3 Flavor Pepper Chicken here is mind-blowingly great with the right crispiness to the chicken and a perfect hit of numbing heat. My vegetarian daughter loves the Mapo Tofu. The space is comfortable and clean and the service is always so sweet from the charming staff. Whether their overall menu is your favorite among the others places, who knows. But it seems hard to go wrong here.
We came here for a late lunch and thoroughly enjoyed some dishes. The cheese puff was the best we ever had, crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. Perfect appetizer! Beijing pork was authentic, sweet with rich umami, goes well with cucumber. Maoxuewang, on the other side, was a bit disappointing as it tastes of nothing but spicy. Parking can be tricky but give it a try if you’re in the neighborhood.
A small spot tucked into midtown. The Sichuan food here was delicious and flavorful. The 3 Flavor Pepper Chicken is one of their top sellers and is their version of Sichuan Mala Chicken - highly recommend. It came out piping hot, had great depth of flavor and spice (with a light dose of the lip numbing Szechuan peppercorns 😍). All of the food came out so fresh and fast. The crispy bottom bao was crisped very well and so hot - with soy sauce and chili oil had good flavor. Don't sleep on the lo mein - I could eat that for a meal alone and be so happy.
It was a more casual atmosphere and decor than I expected from photos - I fit right in with my shorts and sandals.
The staff was a delight. Our server Kim was a riot - she made the whole experience so fun.
The most authentic Chinese food I've found in Houston. Excellent food and the service is great.
Lovely service and lovely food! We got the crispy bottom pork baos, green beans, mapo tofu, beef noodles, chicken and broccoli — all delicious and came out so quickly. Our favorites were the mapo tofu and the crispy baos. The service was the best as well, with our waitress so friendly and funny and the co-owner so welcoming and kind. Also, there’s a parking validation voucher that the restaurant provides for free parking, so make sure to ask!!
Good service, good food, great price for the quantity and quality-three course duck for two people ended up with lots of yummy food to take home. Parking in the garage around the corner is free after they validate your pass
This restaurant has some delicious options worth giving it a try. There is some street and garage parking in the area. It's also close to one of the light rail stops. I was seated right away. The inside space was a good size. The server did a good job keeping up with all of the tables even though they got slammed while I was there. The spicy beef tendons (cold dish) was really tasty. I'd give the spicy cucumbers a pass. The french beans were limp (not crispy) and very disappointing. The highlight of the meal was the fish jump out of water dish. I highly recommend it. It was spicy and delicious. Next time, that will probably be the only thing I order. It's big enough to share between 4 people easily. You are also given some complimentary dumplings if you order over $50 worth of food. I wasn't super impressed with them. Overall, if you choose to visit, check be careful what you order so you don't end up with subpar dishes.
Staff was very nice! Food was great and comes with a little more than the pictures attached. Has a local feel in the city which is rare. Worth trying out!
