This is our first time trying General Public and we'll definitely be back! Stopped in for brunch, and decided to try a little of everything. The $1 mimosas (with orange, grapefruit or pineapple juice) were good, but we quickly decided to up our day drinking game and ordered the bee sting (perfect for me - a little sweet and a little spicey) and the dusky rose (recommended by the server and tailored to make it a little less sweet for my husband - amazing!). For starters we ordered the crab hushpuppies with honey butter and the bacon farm bread. I loved the hushpuppies, though they were a little greasy for my husband's taste. If a crab cake and beignet had a baby (and threw in a little corn meal and jalapeño to boot), it would be a crab hushpuppy. The bacon farm bread was a trio of toasted sourdough baguette with bacon, triple cream Brie and local honey. Salty, sweet, creamy and crispy goodness in each bite. I tapped out from fullness at this point, but my husband ordered two eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes and toast. The meats are sourced from a Deep Ellum butcher (the oldest butcher in Texas) and were most memorable. The sausage had a good snap but was tender and flavorful inside. The bacon was thick, salty and smoked - cooked to the perfect crispness. The sourdough toast is made from Slow Dough Bread Company bread, and that little bit of extra effort makes all the difference. The breakfast potatoes were also cheesily (don't think that's a word, but it should be) savory. I'll have to try them again next time, as I don't think I appropriately appreciated them in combination with everything else we ordered. In summary, the great service, high quality food and relaxed atmosphere make The General Public a brunch win. GP goes on the regular brunch rotation!

Wonderful place for weekend brunch, great atmosphere, very cozy and inviting and spacious enough to bring young children.... The staff was professional and extremely friendly. Killer menu and fresh food. I would definitely recommend this place and will definitely be going back!

Good ambiance, spacious restaurant. Server was very attentive and got everything in our order right. Clean space. My friends shared their food tasted really good. I can speak only for what I ate the chicken parmesan meatballs.Their taste was good just a tiny bit dry. I assume because of the cheese. Not too many vegan options. Street parking or garage about a block down. Overall good experience. Will definitely consider going back again.

So I was pleasantly surprised with this happy hour. We ordered a number of drinks and food as pictured. We went around 5:00p and it wasn't too packed at all. Everything was $5. The food was delicious and the drinks were strong. I will definitely be back.

I stopped my meal to make this review. Literally told my friend mid meal that I need to review this place. Come here. Get the half chicken and frites. Get the meat and cheese board appetizer. It is amazing. You won't be disappointed, just a nice place to eat straight up and great food!

Good customer service. I went for Houston Restaurant Week to try the Kung Pao wraps but they were out. While disappointing, the other options ( hush puppies) was still tasty. The drinks was good & the dessert, amazing. We arrive early so plaza parking wasn’t bad but upon leaving I can see how it can be a hassle. Due to the other business in the area it can be a quick fill up.

Has the green chili grilled cheese sandwich with the green chili sauce on the side. It was amazing and it was said that it was the best grilled cheese ever! We also had the rib eye sandwich again amazing! We spent a great deal of time discussing food with David and expressed how delicious it truly was. Mimosas were only a bunch each. Had Woodford Reserve whiskey on the side. This truly was the highlight of the weekend. hats off to the chef and to the Manager David. Needless to say, we will be back! 11:45 Saturday morning 7/29

The best happy hour in Houston hands down. $3 bites, beers and drinks at 3pm. $4 bites, beers and drinks at 4pm. $5 bites…you get the picture. Happy hour from 3-6 all week. Plus it’s in City Centere. Get your day sip and shop on.

Nice place with an amazing happy hour. Service can be iffy as far as attentiveness but the food for the price is fantastic. Location is everything and they are worth the visit with so much to do nearby

The place was empty on a Saturday night, which I thought was interesting. Not one person at the bar. We ordered the giant pretzel and it is huge. We really liked it and both the mustard and the cheese to dip were tasty. I got the pork belly banh mi. It was a little disappointing as the pork was a bit overcooked but the slaw and fresh jalapeños were tasty. I got the bacon jam crispy Brussels sprouts and they were delicious. Hubs ordered a sandwich and ended up taking it apart and eating the chicken. Service was pleasant and efficient. We enjoyed looking at the wall decor but again, it was a bit dull with very few other patrons.
