You can’t beat the atmosphere in this place. It’s like walking into Texas history! It’s clean, the staff is attentive and the steaks are tender and juicy.
I’m saddened that they are closing but glad we made it there one last time. They were very busy the night we were there but the waiter still found the time to check on us. Someone was always coming around to refill water and tea glasses. We ordered the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer and a variety of steaks, along with dessert. Enjoyed it all!
Not sure what the place will re-open as, but I understand the Texas memorabilia is going to museums.

First time dining inside this restaurant. Had dinner reservations for 6 pm to celebrate my birthday. My husband and I arrived and were immediately seated at a table. We both had the strip steak with Rustic rice, green beans, sweet potato fries. The steak was really flavorful and tender considering it was well done. Dessert was very good also. Love the decorated plate. Our server, James, was the best! Although the restaurant was full and he was waiting on several tables at the same time, his service was great 👍 He was very attentive you our table. Refilling our glasses and making sure our food was brought to the table in a timely manner. I will definitely be back again.

The steak was delicious! The sides are just okay. The are sold separately from the meal. Our waiter was attentive and helpful.

Where do I start? The ambiance & decor alone makes it worth eating here. A virtual museum of Texas history. Many historical documents & the six flags that have flown over Texas.
The food is very good as well. Be careful with the bread—you will eat more than you intend. The pepper crusted ribeye was very good. I will definitely come back with my family.

Dinner review with comments as promised for Kevin Nored from Steamboat House on the tollway.
I started with the crab cakes as an appetizer. They're big beautiful true cakes of crab deliciousness overflowing with chunks of luscious crab meat. Perfect fry, not oily or greasy in the slightest.
Wedge Salad. Sure, you're saying, "what the hell Mike, it's a freaking Wedge salad, whoopty doo, how can they screw that up?" Let me tell you, there's doing something and doing it well. They do it WELL. Big beautiful chunks of good bleu cheese, nice and hearty bacon pieces that are obviously cooked fresh and perfectly.
Entree. I went surf and turf. A beautiful 12 oz. perfectly cooked medium rare ribeye served on a very generous pile of sauteed mushrooms with an excellent lobster tail with drawn butter and lemon wedges. All I will say is BAM!
After all this, I was too full to enjoy dessert, and opted for a great cup of coffee.
Overall, this was the Ms. Davis of dinners, a 10 (that's a Varsity Blues reference for those of you who don't know).
You'll have to check Amy's page for her pics and opinions, but judging from the content look on her face, I think she's a fan. I do know this, she has a hell of a lunch of leftovers planned for tomorrow.

This is a big place with good steaks. You'll dine while surrounded by Texas memorabilia from the 1800s, some real and some replicas. Quiet and subdued, with mostly older patrons. A good choice for a business dinner.

Wow! This was a delightful surprise! My husband took me here for my birthday and it was perfect! Lexi, our waitress, knew a lot about the history of the restaurant. She gave amazing recommendations on food and wine. She was very sweet and bubbly! I had the colonel Travis ribeye and he had the buffalo filet. Both fantastic! Great job guys on the food and service!

This place was awesome! Since our anniversary coincides with the end of Houston Restaurant Week, I decided to give it a try. I love seafood and this awesome was fresh and the steak was cooked to perfection. I'm missing some pictures but the crab cakes are delicious and come with jumbo lump crabmeat and remoulade sauce as a garnish. Everyone was attentive, not just our waiter but each one, I got a great sense of teamwork.
