Nice authentic izakaya place! Vibe was cozy and very Japanese style. We got the fried chicken recommended by the waiter, my boyfriend loved it and said it’s currently his no.1. Sweet potato was glazed but would have prefer if it were crispy. The croquettes were gooey and so smooth, I loved it!
Potstickers were so juicy, loved the sauce. Sashimi was super fresh especially the ahi! Overall great place to visit for authentic Japanese style food!
Daily sashimi specials are wonderful. Ordered many small plays to share. I loved the atmosphere.
Just happened to come in, and we were blown away. Had the hot pot and it had amazing flavors, and after we got our order, our waiter Mickey told us about adding noodles to the broth so we did that after we ate all the meat and gyoza.
Would recommend for folks to give it a try, and will be coming back.
Izakaya Danji: Next to Auntie Pastos on Beretania. Walk in and it smells like Japan; bamboo wood fragrance. The deep fried 1/2 chicken is ono, food has an authentic Japan flavors/style. Will be back to try their shabu shabu. Reasonable prices.
The place looks small from the outside but it’s actually got a lot of space and seating once you enter the restaurant. The food is a little pricey for an izakaya but it was delicious! Our servers were nice and attentive despite service being a little slow. We went on a Saturday night so they were probably busy.
The food selection was good but since they just opened recently they seem to not have anticipated the amount of customers as they were out of some menu items that day.
They had a good selection of drinks but the chu-hi I ordered seemed like it didn’t have much alcohol.
Their menu selection is really nice though, and atmosphere was good. Highly recommend if you like Japanese food. Will come back for the matcha roll cake.
Honestly, this is one izakaya restaurant I've been low key gatekeeping because it is amazing. If you love Southern Japanese food (mainly Kyushu), this place is hands down the best. They have your typical Japanese izakaya drinks (beer, sake, shochu, etc) and their ippin (ala carte style) menu choices are amazing. Highly recommend the gobou (burdock root) karaage, corn karaage, and mentai (spicy cod roe) potato salad. But the main reason I come here is for the motsu nabe (hotpot). Hands down the best motsu nabe place on the island. Just keep in mind that one motsu nabe feeds 2-3 people!
Best fried chicken! $3.33 for 3 wings and asahi draft on any day of the month with a 3 in it and specials for every day of the week.
Well done, Izakaya Danji. Nice, authentic feeling. The owner and staff know their craft. Delicious kamachi sashimi caught by the owner that morning, paired well with my Asahi draught. - James, Sugar Sugar
Every dish we had at Izakaya Danju was top notch! The gyoza was extra crispy, oysters were gr at, the udon broth was some of the best we've had! I highly recommend it!
Loved their tebasaki! Super crunchy and it’s really authentic. Nice people there, too! Highly recommended😊
