A simple and cheap solution in this expensive zone near Waikiki beach. It is a classic McDonald's, but this place offers probably the cheapest food here. There are always a lot of people, but you get your food quickly, there are self kiosks and plenty of seating. It is close to the beach, so a very convenient option.
Waikiki has three (3) McDonald's locations (as of late 2023). But I prefer this location on Kalakaua Avenue because it's the closest to Diamond Head and offers nice views of Waikiki Beach. There is shady, covered outdoor seating on the lanai - as well as indoors if it's too hot outside. // McDonald's Hawaii is one of the few places to still serve deep-fried apple pies (yum!) - and not the baked version (supposedly healthier) offered in the U.S. Mainland. // The customers here are mostly tourists, but sometimes more "colorful" homeless types might be seen around. But it's still safe (lots of people). And I appreciate the self-serve refillable soda dispenser.
With respect to the other McDs on Waikiki and across the planet, this McDonald’s is probably the best one — mostly due to the lanai view of Waikiki Beach,
Is it busy always? Yes. Is it more expensive than the mainland? Of course. Does a particular Google Reviews user bring Kirkland pre-boiled eggs to save $4 on breakfast? Maybe.
But you get free refills here and the service is on point and friendly, considering it’s probably the busiest McDonald’s you will ever go to.
Breakfast specials are good. The sausage burrito and sausage McMuffins with eggs are freshly cooked. Been wanting to try their spam eggs and rice but during our visit their rice cooker isn’t working so there’s no rice meal for breakfast. But the associates are friendly and nice.
This isn't your typical McDonald's. This place is located at Waikea Beach. So, there is a lot of foot traffic. It can get very busy here. There are signs all over asking you to limit your stay to 30 minutes. I've seen the line to order going front the order window to outside the door. But, there are kiosks available to order from.
Food consistent with one expects from this chain.
Nice Hawaiian music playing throughout the day on their sound system. Don't be surprised to see a surfer standing in line with his surfboard.
Don't be surprised to find a pigeon or two picking up your crumbs off the floor while you're dining inside.
Was interested in difference of fare offered by Waikiki Beach, Honolulu Hawaii McDonalds vs Houston, Tx McDonalds.
Prices are much higher. That is understandable. Spam is avaulable, at least as a meat on breakfast dishes. Nearly everything is 'compostable' vs recyclable. Very little tossable plastic on tray. Did not see seperate compost bins.
I did see dirty tables, doors, counters; all 3 of the 3 trash cans i went to were full.
Big Breakfast was nearly as expected. Hot cakes, sausage were same / nearly same. Smaller scrambled egg portion.
Something else that have not (yet) seen in mainland McDonalds: Table Service. Use app, find location, enter table number, amdbthey bring to you.
Also noticed that both kiosks for ordering were apparently down, and registers were staffed. Good. Let's hope the kiosks stay out of order.
This location is all the beach. The food was hot and delicious.
I went like four times in the morning in my vacation to get my coffee and Robert is a great guy always with a big smile on his face. Hawaii needs more people with his same attitude. The only sad part was!! I never was able to tried this pie!!
SPAM DELICIOUS GOTTA TRY 😊❤️
Easy access, surprisingly clean and fast service. Very busy location, kudos to the team for keeping it looking and running well. Thank you.
