I'm giving a 5 for something other than the food...COFFEE. I never imagined I'd have a hard time finding a cup of coffee on Oahu. Thank goodness for this lifesaving cup of elixir. This picture is coffee, not cappuccino. I saw the cappuccino co.e out and that looked heavenly too. I drove 20 mins out of my way for this cup this morning after throwing another away at the farmers market. Did I mention the breeze and outdoor seating? So grateful!
Quite frankly one of the top 3 places I’ve eaten in my life. Food was delicious and presentation was extremely professional. I don’t usually leave reviews but was so blown away with my meal that I had to. I had the Asian 5 spice braised beef I believe, and recommend to anyone.
This place is incredible and unique. The food was amazing and very different then anything we have found on the island. The duck I had was cooked beautifully and even their bread and homemade pesto that you get when you sit was great. The atmosphere was quaint but calming and inviting. And the service was perfect. Very attentive and helpful. We will definitely be coming back to see what brunch has to offer!
The world food travelers stopped in at Tango Contemporary Café as yours truly hadn’t been there for dinner, just lunch. We were seated at a tiny table but luckily for us there was a cancellation so we were moved to a table for four. It was fortuitous because we ordered two appetizers and salad; there was no way the dishes would have fit on the original table.
The wine book had a QR code for additional wines but it turned out to be misleading as the more current source was the book. We ordered a 2019 Duckhorn Three Palms Vineyard Merlot for $159; very reasonable as the bottle sells for $115 in the store. It was dark red with dark fruit and chocolate.
First up; slices of bread was served with a pesto dipping sauce.
Our appetizers were the Foie Gras and the Sautéed Escargot. The foie gras came on a toasted slice of brioche with a strawberry gastrique. The presentation of the escargot was interesting … They came in a square cast iron pan with a brown sauce with pieces of mushroom and garlic. On the side were three thin slices of toast.
We followed the appetizers with the red and golden beet salad; they served the salad on two plates (thank you!). Instead of cubes, the beets were sliced and served over greens with labneh (strained yogurt) and a raspberry vinaigrette. It was very refreshing.
Our entrées were the Slow Roasted Rack of Lamb and the Duck Confit. The presentation of each was excellent … three ribs of lamb were arranged over pieces of roasted potato with a Yuzu Kosho Demi glace; the duck was served with a pea and artichoke ragout and garlic Broccolini. The lamb was delicious as was the duck. I would have liked some kind of sauce for the duck but I appreciated the crispy skin; unexpected for duck confit.
We ended with two desserts … Kona Coffee Ice cream cake and Affogato di Gelato. The ice cream cake was served as a slice … Layers of coffee and vanilla and Italian Chocolate ice cream atop a layer of chiffon cake. The Affogato was properly presented … A glass of vanilla bean ice cream and a cup of espresso. Visual and taste delights!
The restaurant was very busy but service was fine; Ashley was our server and she was assisted by another (unnamed). We enjoyed the wine and food; all reasonably priced. Recommended!
First of all, the service is amazing. They remembered us from 2 months prior. Even remembered what we ordered! Friendly staff, great quiet atmosphere without being rushed.
My wife and son loves their risotto. I love the braised lamb (to die for!!!), my kids love the escargot so we have to get 2 orders of that.
Very accommodating for my mother who's in a wheelchair.
This is one of our favorite places to eat.
Had dinner tonight with a party of 13. Everything we had was impeccable, including the service which right is very hard to find. We will definitely be coming here again. Highlights were the French Onion Soup, veggie board, scallop appetizer and entrée, tasting menus and Blueberry bread pudding. Oo and coffee drinks were all delicious!
Had brunch here and enjoyed it. I had the pastry basket I will see in the past the pastries were or appeared to be very soft and today maybe they were just baked a little too long. The atmosphere here is always upbeat and very pleasant. My guest had eggs benedict and enjoyed it very much. Have been going here for many years and plan to continue to do so.
Great brunch place in Kakaako area. Pet friendly neighborhood, I was able to bring my dog with me and eat in their outdoor seating. Ordered the risotto which was delicious and the eggs benedict.
I've dined here on several occasions, and left extremely pleased every single time! Awesome food, great service, and wonderful atmosphere -- everything's decently priced as well, which is pretty rare in Hawaii (and especially in this neighborhood). Will definitely come back!!
Lunch time is very crowded. If you are having a group of 4-5 (or higher if our next tier opens) best to make reservations. Food is good for lunch...mostly choices from salads, sandwiches and burgers with some entrees. Cost is at medium range.
