Just completed my 5th Trip to Honolulu and I always make sure to go to Pioneer Saloon. Just a short walk from Waikiki beach.
Pioneer Saloon is delicious and highly recommended for a nice lunch. They do get busy but are always friendly and have great food. My favorite is the Mochiko Chicken, but all their food is all very tasty. I have tried many of their Curry, Chicken and Fish dishes and all are excellent. You cannot go wrong with anything on their menu.

The ribeye plate is where it's at! So ono and rivals any steak house. The fries are done so well and overall great food. We also got the miso butter fish and fried chicken. Highly recommended!

We are tourists who love to support local businesses when traveling. Wanted to have a simple relaxing dinner without all the glitz and glam. While at the beach, we asked a few locals where we could eat that would provide us a few varieties of the Hawaiian culture. Pioneer Saloon came highly recommended! Small restaurant with very tasty options! Very nice and friendly with great service!!!

I love this place! Every dish I've tried has been so delicious. My favorites are the Crab Cream Croquette Curry and the Teri-Fried Chicken with Walnuts. Their short ribs melt in your mouth! Service is quick and always friendly!

My favorite is prime rib. Served on Saturday and Sunday.

Fresh authentic food. I got their short rib and it was fantastic. Well marinated, really meaty and flavorful. Their seaweed rice was a nice touch to go with it!

Great local spot for unique variety of loco mocos.
We ordered mini loco (enough for one person) and sweet potato fries with honey drizzle. The gravy is made with sauteed onions and mushrooms which gives the gravy a nice, rich flavor. This is a great combo to order.
Parking is tough to find so will have to find street parking around the local neighborhood.

One of my favorite lunch plate places near Waikiki :) the fried yams were much tastier than expected and there were so many menu options, it was hard to choose
I personally like how they give one scoop of rice which is plenty for me to avoid food waste

Super great stop for plate lunch! We stopped here on the way back from diamond head hike (they have AC which we loved). Butter Cajun fries are a must try for sure!

We stopped at the Pioneer Saloon after hiking Diamond Head. You order at the outside window them seat yourself inside where they will bring your order to you. We had a 25 minute wait for our food. It was lunchtime and there was a rush. The grilled ahi was done well. The honey sweet potato tempura was yummy. It was crispy and a hint of sweetness from the drizzled honey. The ahi poke was good. They did not have avocados so did not make the poke with it today. Overall a good plate experience.
A warning there us no public washroom!
