I live downtown and I wonder to this day why I slept on this wonderful restaurant. We started with the house made corn bread, which is definitely a fancy version of what most of us know as corn bread. Their passion fruit mocktail and Freebird drinks were delicious. For our main course we ordered the country fried steak and the Tavern burger. We were so full we did not have the opportunity to get any of the desserts. That is something we have to look forward to. From their drinks to their foods it is safe to say that every bite and sip is an explosion of flavor. Your taste buds will be confused and amazed at the same time.

This place never cease to amaze me with thier menu. Me and several friends got here on a slow monday evening. The menu was limited with ingredients being out of stock. The main entrees serve big portions on average, if anything you can always pig out on the small plates and avoid ordering the main entrees and you'd still be satisfied fully. I would love to recommend the Duck Sage Meatballs very tender and not gamey at all. (The gravy is to die for). Smoke Octopus with sausage, Im not usually a fan of artichoke but this dish makes it work. The Wildgame Corn Dogs. The sauces blends well with the bites, espeically the tomato jam. Lastly they have this decadent bread pudding. Served with hot caramel sauce and fresh whipped cream. Large serving that 3 people barely made it out of alive.

Saturday night dinner with friends, reservations are recommended as they are always fairly busy. Nicely varied menu with a lot of different options. Their beverage selection is good with local, mainland and international choices. House cocktails are good (according to my wife) and their bourbon and whiskey selection is fairly extensive. Our food was well prepared and tasty!

Great place for not just steak. The steaks are excellent, but menu is diverse and includes seafood as well as desserts. Staff is friendly and portions are good. Great bourbon/whisky menu, but they did not have many drinks in stock that were in that list.

Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Overall: I'd come back for sure! The extended review... Food: Oxtail Mac and Cheese - 5/5 - Well hello there! I mean...if there's a dish you want to eat this is IT! In addition to being a very decent portion of food and tasty at that. It's a decent amount of oxtail put into the dish which is nice. Confit Duck nuggets - 3.5/5 - It's a decent tasting dish. I think what I would like more is to get more of the duck flavoring in the nuggets. Pumpkin and Brussels - 4/5 - A very hearty veggie dish to compliment the meat and carbs. Smoked Octopus - 3.5/5 - A good pairing of meat and seafood. Service: 4/5 - Friendly and attentive service. Ambiance: 5/5 - It's definitely a very inviting atmosphere. Very modern and rustic feel to it right in the heart of Chinatown.

I just had the best, most AMAZING prime rib and burger of my life. I'll start off by relaying the one and only con which is there are no seating for baby or toddlers such as highchairs or boosters. But don't let this detour you. We made it work and I'm incredibly happy we did. With all the pros, you're going to want to make this restaurant a priority on your "Must Try" list. Pros are they have the absolute, best prime rib on island. You won't find better. Talk about perfectly prepped and seasoned. Au jus and dipping sauce was magic to the taste buds. I grew up in the midwest where some of the highest quality beef is and this place knocked it out! In addition we ordered the burger and holy smokes, so good you close your eyes and savor all the flavor. Buttery bun with the right mix of fixings to make your taste buds sing "what a glorious day to be alive"! The service was on point and professional. The atmosphere was wonderful. I highly recommend you try this place. If you are a foodie, this absolutely can not go untried! No need to look any further, let your tastebuds enjoy pure bliss. We will be back soon!

We stopped into Livestock Tavern for my birthday dinner and boy oh boy was it delicious. We really love the change of pace with this menu, and it's best for carnivores. There are a few vegetarian options, but it's all about the meat. We started with the frisee salad and confit duck nuggets. I ordered the grilled lamb entree and my husband got the duck breast. We also had their apple "pie" for dessert and they brought out ice cream with a candle. While it's seemingly a heavier menu, everything felt very light and fresh, which was so pleasantly surprising. Every veggie, sauce, and nibble was excellent. My husband did the whiskey tasting and enjoyed it as well. They have a few larger tables for bigger parties and lots of space for couples. Also they have a high top area in the bar. We made a reservation about a week out and were seated right away. This spot is a must, especially when you're craving something less typical on the island.

10/10. First time back since the pandemic and we were not disappointed. The food was just as we remembered... Crazy delicious. I haven't had anything here I didn't like but definitely get the lamb. This time around we also got the beets & frisse, crab cakes and confit duck nuggets. Their menu is seasonal so there's always something new to try. The staff here are amazing. They keep this restaurant running like a well oiled machine, but be sure to make a reservation because they are often slammed. The bar area is first come, first served but there is normally a wait for that area as well. Did I mention they have a well curated alcohol selection? They do. Book your table online, it's too easy.

Livestock Tavern is located at the edge of Chinatown on Smith St. This was my first time having dinner here; my previous experiences have been during lunch (alas, so long ago). We started with a bottle of 2017 Neyers Roberts Road Pinot Noir and the House Made Cornbread, Hen of the Woods Mushrooms and the Bourbon and Bone Marrow. The wine was somewhat closed in but it had nice color. It was okay but there are better pinot noirs available for at the same price point. The cornbread had a hint of Jalapeno; it was served with a whipped butter. The Hen of the Wood Mushrooms consisted of frisee, asparagus, pieces of crispy pork belly, a poached egg and a nice, subtle truffle vinaigrette. The bone marrow was flambeed tableside and was served with slices of toasted baguette. I would have liked the marrow browned just a touch more to intensify its umami but it was delicious. We ordered the duck breast and the lamb shank but Kelly (our server) came back to tell us that they couldn’t do the duck breast so we substituted it with the Beef Cheek Pappardelle. Whoa, we’ve never seen such large portions; the lamb shank was from a supersized animal and the cheek meat was huge! The lamb was served over polenta or grits (I couldn’t decide and I didn’t have a copy of the menu) and haricot verts. There may have been a touch too much sauce on the pappardelle although my food partner didn’t mention anything. The food was perfectly seasoned and the meats were so tender. Needless to say, we took home four containers that felt like they weighed 2 pounds. What do I think? It’s delicious comfort food, at very reasonable prices, served in a vibrant and energetic setting. Recommended!
