Surf Taco

I love that Surf Taco made it's way to Hoboken. It's a place I always try to hit when I make a trip to the beach. The food is fresh and there are tons of options, although I could easily make a meal of the chips and all the different kinds of salsa. I don't get to Hoboken often, but when I do, I'll be stopping here. Recommended: the Maverick.

Surf Taco is a mixed bag. They have fantastic serve-yourself salsa (i.e. all you can eat) with tasty entrees, but the service is just so awful. I started having lunch here and really enjoyed it, but it would take longer than 30 minutes just to get a taco. The restaurant was not overwhelmed. It was just incredibly slow. So, I tried arriving when they open and I tried eating at 2:30 in the afternoon when they were empty. Nothing solved their service disaster. They still take 15-30 minutes to bring you a taco and occasionally, they bring you the wrong meal. The hostess is always nice and apologizes and gives you free chips, but it is disaster after disaster. If you love salsa and don't mind the wait, this place is nice. But if time is relevant, don't eat here.

Casual but chic interiors, makes some real scrumptious tacos in different flavors. Tried 3 different ones, all were so palatable - but the best one was Baja fish tacos. Price to quality ratio is so skewed towards quality and tase, nothing like spending $10 for 3 amazing tacos. They could do better with their ordering window though.

Service was super nice, but food was unremarkable, and slightly overpriced. Or rather mispriced. Tacos shouldn't be served individually w/chips. Two tacos + chips should have been like $6-8 instead it's two baskets each with a taco and chips at $5 ea. Who eats one taco? And what are you supposed to do with the extra chips? Good for the Hoboken, but literally anywhere else meh.

You only need 1 taco to satisfy your hunger (unless you want to leave very full). Tacos are good and selection of sauces is great. Feel like there is way to much lettuce/cabbage on top.. Some tacos on the menu don't mention cilantro but includes it. My gf doesn't like it and since it didn't say it on the menu with didn't ask for 'no cilantro' but received the steak taco with some on it.
