Maharaja Indian restaurant is closed for dine in. But definitely open for take out. It is a very small place. Maybe all of 8 tables. They didn't say the menu was limited, so they are serving a full menu. I ordered the chicken Tikka masala. I've never seen it served this way. I get its Togo, but it was 2 plates and a bread that was ordered. They put both rice In one container, or did I only get one side of rice? I think I got jiped. And the chicken was in 2 separate containers. One was medium hot the other just hot.. I would have thought they would "plate it" like other places, Or like when you dine in. I never dined in here before. Maybe that's how they bring it to your table? In separate dishes for each item? I left the building and got to the car and had to go back in to ask for plastic wear and plates! They knew we we're there to eat in.. and because they didn't have that option we were taking it togo. At least ask if people want plates if its not plated like a regular togo plate should/would be.. The flavor did not disappoint, even though the presentation was discouraging.
Great food but much store bought. It's been 45 minutes since we ordered and we are still waiting for our food. They have taken care of to go orders; four people since we sat down. BUT.... I originally wanted to give them 3 stars but the Coconut Masala I had friggin ROCKS! Legit comfort food. I just wanted to go home and chill, watch a movie and serendipitously dip my nan into the Coconut curry over and over and over..... The waiter mentioned he was sorry for the long wait. That means a lot.
Maharaja has a big menu with many choices for vegetarians. The portions are generous, the service is friendly, engaged and attentive. Prices are reasonably affordable. The dining area is intimate and the tables and place settings are spotlessly clean. Spicy dishes are spicy!
Delicious food. I had the Paneer Makhni and the garlic naan. Both equally good. They give you a generous portion, with plenty of sauce to dip your naan. 😊 Will definitely come back for more.
Great food !! Most authentic Indian food I have had so far in the US. Great ambiance !!
So amazing. My favorite Indian restaurant in all of PDX area closed 2 years ago and I had given up on trying subpar Indian restaurants. Then I tried Maharaja and omg. It's just what I remembered! When I was young I practically grew up at a family owned Indian restaurant in Vegas, never found Indian food as traditional and similar to that restaurant once I left Vegas. Until now. This is the real deal, it is AMAZING. I just hope they do not close.... All the authentic no frills GOOD Indian restaurants seem to close. White people must like the watered down food in big fancy restaurants. Idk. But please support this business so they stay open!
Only downside was it took 1hr 45min to get food. But, I don't even mind. I knew by the decor it was going to be worth it nd I was right. Just call in your order way early so they have enough time to prepare it. Got Malai Kofta, Palak Paneer, Lamb Tikka Masala, Samosas & Garlic Naan. All amazing. And cheap! PLEASE STAY OPEN!
Best Indian food that I've ever had! They achieve such complex flavors! Must try the Mango Kulfi for dessert!
