Visited this place last night from CT while staying in Hershey. Had the place all to ourselves but was greeted warmly by the owner Deborah and had a really friendly and attentive waitress. The honey garlic butter for the dinner rolls was divine 👅 👅! My husband chose the duck as that is one of his favorites and not often seen in a menu. He said it was best he's ever had! I had the chicken piccata which was also delicious but needs more sauce to go with it. We shared Deborah's amazing peanut butter pie...do you share the recipe??? Then Deborah gave us a lively tour of the underground tunnel and history on the place. All in all it was a perfect evening and we will definitely return when back in the area. Thank you again Deborah for such an enjoyable evening 😃👍👅🍷🍽✅
Union canal looks like a bar where you’d find locals hanging out. Then you sit to eat and realize this place is something really special. And then you have the steak. My lord their steaks are just the best ever.
Came here for dinner with my husband and two young sons. It was 6pm on a Friday and we were seated immediately upon walking in. Driving up to the restaurant, we were a little hesitant as it’s kinda dark and off the beaten path. However once we walked in, our opinions changed completely. The restaurant, while empty, was wonderful. Atmosphere was warm and welcoming and the food was delicious. Not a big menu, but seasonal and made to order which I prefer. My husband had the filet and loved it. I had a salad and crab cake and we shared the bacon wrapped scallops. Everything was so good! And service was fast, friendly, and accommodating. Definitely a hidden gem worth visiting while in Hershey! Wish more people knew about it to share in the great experience we had!
Absolutely spectacular. Best homemade fall sangria that I have ever had - extremely refreshing. Fresh baked dinner rolls came out hot from the oven. Terrific cut of Delmonico done perfectly by the kitchen, homemade mashed potatoes. And the service was exceptional. We even got a last minute tour of this historic tavern. I highly recommend Union Canal House to anyone, and since I'm from out of town, I'll likely be returning for dinner again tomorrow night.
We were at an afternoon concert at the Giant Center and while waiting for it to start I googled restaurants for a later dinner. This was the only one that had a time that was good for us. Made the reservation on Open Table and was not able to confirm until after the concert which ran longer than expected. Called to let them know we would be late and Deborah was very gracious and said she would hold reservation. Got there and was greeted and given a table. I chose the crab cakes and my wife chose the chicken parmigiana. Both meals were excellent and the crab cakes were some of the best I ever had. Although we live 2 hours from the restaurant I will definitely return.
Great food! Stopped in after a day at the amusement park. Were seated right away. The food was delicious! Appetizers, salad, burger, and chicken picatta. Wonderful! Our server was pleasant and responsive. Thoroughly enjoyed our time. Long selection of craft beers on tap as well. If in the area, strongly consider Union Canal House.
The Union Canal House is absolutely wonderful! It is a quaint place, rich in history, and very family-oriented. Mrs. Deborah Albright is a wonderful woman who really pays attention to her customers and their needs. I have never known a restaurant owner to be so hands-on. I love that the interior of the house has been preserved. The food was absolutely delicious! The staff is very friendly. Spending our evening here was the perfect ending to our day.
