Came here for dinner with my husband and two young sons. It was 6pm on a Friday and we were seated immediately upon walking in. Driving up to the restaurant, we were a little hesitant as it’s kinda dark and off the beaten path. However once we walked in, our opinions changed completely. The restaurant, while empty, was wonderful. Atmosphere was warm and welcoming and the food was delicious. Not a big menu, but seasonal and made to order which I prefer. My husband had the filet and loved it. I had a salad and crab cake and we shared the bacon wrapped scallops. Everything was so good! And service was fast, friendly, and accommodating. Definitely a hidden gem worth visiting while in Hershey! Wish more people knew about it to share in the great experience we had!

Absolutely spectacular. Best homemade fall sangria that I have ever had - extremely refreshing. Fresh baked dinner rolls came out hot from the oven. Terrific cut of Delmonico done perfectly by the kitchen, homemade mashed potatoes. And the service was exceptional. We even got a last minute tour of this historic tavern. I highly recommend Union Canal House to anyone, and since I'm from out of town, I'll likely be returning for dinner again tomorrow night.

We were at an afternoon concert at the Giant Center and while waiting for it to start I googled restaurants for a later dinner. This was the only one that had a time that was good for us. Made the reservation on Open Table and was not able to confirm until after the concert which ran longer than expected. Called to let them know we would be late and Deborah was very gracious and said she would hold reservation. Got there and was greeted and given a table. I chose the crab cakes and my wife chose the chicken parmigiana. Both meals were excellent and the crab cakes were some of the best I ever had. Although we live 2 hours from the restaurant I will definitely return.

Haven't been here in over three years due to a previous bad experience. Fast forward to this New year's eve our first time back with a group to celebrate. Walking in you couldn't get to the counter to check in. We did have a reservation for their 7'o'clock seating and you had to pre select you meal choice so you would think the dining experience would have went more smoothly. We got our own drinks at the bar and waited 40 minutes when we still didn't have a server we tried to talk to the owner who was not at all apologetic for the circumstances. She immediately tried to get us a server (it was the bartender). Our party was upset with the wait, lack of service and attitude of the owner that we left. WE WILL NEVER BE BACK.

This review is bittersweet. After attempting 3 times to keep reservations, we were notified of broken vents in kitchen, 2x, Then pos system down tonight. A challenge at best. FOOD WAS FABULOUS!, Stories from owner and waitress were totally different. Be aware of drink costs, not listed on menu. We had that changed when our bill came, but somehow, this place is not upfront with their issues. Hoping the best for them, but doubt we will return anytime soon.

Great food! Stopped in after a day at the amusement park. Were seated right away. The food was delicious! Appetizers, salad, burger, and chicken picatta. Wonderful! Our server was pleasant and responsive. Thoroughly enjoyed our time. Long selection of craft beers on tap as well. If in the area, strongly consider Union Canal House.

The Union Canal House is absolutely wonderful! It is a quaint place, rich in history, and very family-oriented. Mrs. Deborah Albright is a wonderful woman who really pays attention to her customers and their needs. I have never known a restaurant owner to be so hands-on. I love that the interior of the house has been preserved. The food was absolutely delicious! The staff is very friendly. Spending our evening here was the perfect ending to our day.

The person that finally greeted us was really nice the staffing was nice our waitress was nice. Well, that is only reason why they get 2 stars. The food was not worth the $$$$$ for the meals we recieved. In our party for the evening was 5 adults one child, the place was not slammed for staffing that was present. We did ask for 3 separate checks from the start, I thought we kept it all pretty simple. Our check was over $100 for 2 meals, 1 appetizer, 2 desserts and 2 sodas...the $33 delmonico was thin, overly blackened and over cooked. I was terribly disappointed. My friends shrimp & scallops nola, was good she said except some of the shrimp were peeled some weren't...ok really? The desserts were sad. The key lime pie at Wegman's is way better and cheaper. Our waitress was nice, but I'm not sure if it was her first night working there. She seemed lost and we did lose her a couple times when she was supposed to bring things back. Disappointing since we couldn't excuse it for being busy, because it wasn't. In the end was even better when she left with the credit cards that were in 3 individual folders and returned for us to sign, we all noticed that now the tickets were swapped and caught my husband's name were on 2 signature slips. Some how we were charged for my friends meal and ours. Which we would have never caught till later if she had not placed the slips in wrong. We showed her issue and she still didn't get it. After explaining again and telling her how to fix it. I took my 3 yr daughter to potty, put seat together to go on seat and I went too and she still had not made her way back to the table. Maybe 15/20 mins after she made her way back. For the price of the meals I expected more. This is just service, not even going into interior. The place was just not what we were expecting. Over look interior for fantastic food. This had neither.
