S & S Cafeterias

This is a great little cafeteria style restaurant. The workers are very friendly and work very hard. The food buffet looks clean, is neat and food is always hot and fresh. The broccoli casserole is too mushy... More like cheesy broccoli soup with rice. The liver and onions are tasty, the country steak is too.. rice and gravy good, okra, cabbage, all good. The cakes and pies are good as well. I don't really think you can go wrong with anything that you would order, they just need to make sure not to overcook the vegetables.

Great food choices for everyone. All of our meals were very well prepared. Their Great American Favorites (G.A.F.) deals were very good with a variety of meat choices, including beef, chicken, turkey and fish. My wife and I split a strawberry shortcake since it is so large and the meals so filling. The waitress was always quick with the refills.

Have been going here for years with my family. The food is always good and the service is tip-top! This place gives you an elementary school lunch vibe. When you walk into the front entrance that faces the road, you walk down a long hallway to get your tray. You then go through the line and pick out your meat, vegetables and dessert! Now they also offer take out!

My grandparents used to take me here every weekend I stayed with them. My Poppy would always reach up high to grab me a bowl of blue jello. I'd always eat the same thing: chopped steak, green beans, rice & gravy. Then, after our meal, my Poppy would ask the waiter for a balloon and he would tie it to my wrist. My Poppy passed in July of 2021. Today I went to eat at S&S with my mother. I hadn't been here in 20 years or so. I was thrown into nostalgia walking down the hallway, the round tiles still the same, finally tall enough to peek through the window slats into the dining room. The food tastes the same as it did 20 years ago, delicious and comforting. I honored tradition and got the same food I used to eat when I was a child. I'm so happy I got to stop in. This place will always hold a very special place in my heart.

Enduring my husband's ridicule that we were getting there just in time for the "early bird special," we dined at S & S this past Sunday around 11:30 for lunch. There was already a line. It moved fairly quickly and I was able to secure my faves: chicken, mashed potatoes, black eyed peas, mac and cheese, and the delicious chocolate creme pie! The servers are ALWAYS the NICEST people EVER!!!! Always a great experience at this S & S. I just wish there were more of them still around!!!

Tried to phone a couple of orders and called the number for S & S. Young lady answered and when I told her I wanted to call in a couple of orders she gave me another phone number to call that never got answered. Come on S&S! Some of us are disabled and rely on pickup orders for convenience of not having to struggle to walk in and pick up orders. We elderly have to eat too!
