Smokey Ridge

Delicious food and friendly, attentive staff. We tried the brisket (fantastic) and pulled pork (delicious). The mashed potatoes and gravy side was possibly the best I've ever had and the mac and cheese was great as well. I love the different choices of sauces with my personal favorite being the "sassy" flavor.

The food was good, the meat smoky flavor was great and the sides (flavors) were a unique variety. I loved the decor and the awesome view of the woods. It was also very clean. The staff was friendly and helpful; food arrived in decent time. They had fresh limeade/lemonade (I believe) that looked good and the soda fountain was all "Jones" soda. Ordering food was a bit odd - it is basically Counter service where you have to order & pay at the bar and someone will bring your food to you. The lady at the bar was very helpful explaining the system and menu. Someone did clear our plates too. I thought it was a nice experience.

On a raining day I grew hangry while shopping with my friend. My friend told me about this BBQ place. I was not enthusiastic going to a BBQ place. The menu was simple. You place your order at the bar and then go sit down. I ordered the brisket sandwich. Little to my surprise when I put it to my lips it jest felt right. It was not gushy nor dry. Before I knew it, it was gone. I neglected my corny mash. That was the biggest mistake of my life. The view looking out to the creek and woods was fantastic. I recommend eating here.

I have been looking forward to stopping in since I saw a new BBQ place open in town, and wow, I was not disappointed! The menu is well thought out, scratch made, and absolutely delicious. Couple a great food menu with a small, but very well put together (and inexpensive) drink menu and you have a great restaurant in the making. The service is friendly, courteous and responsive. I had the brisket plate, and it was some of the better brisket I've had in the Midwest - beefy, tender, and great smoke flavor with a nice dark bark and pink smoke ring. I typically judge a BBQ place on their brisket, and they do not disappoint in the least. Another point in which I judge a good BBQ place on is their sides, or as they call them "flavors". And it's another area in which they do not disappoint at all. I tried the fried pickles and peppers, coleslaw and mashed potatoes with corn and BBQ gravy. The fried pickles and peppers were great and surprisingly light. The coleslaw was different than I've typically had, but very good. The mashed potatoes and gravy steal the show however - mashed potatoes + sweet corn + gravy = winner! The hard part is not trying to figure out when I'll be back, it's trying not to be there every other night.
