Passing by this place around dinner time so we decided to give it a try. It was very pleasant to get an outside table. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. We got the T-bone steak and the fajitas with chicken. Both were very flavorful and tasted good. The food is a bit more expensive but worth the price (the $2 salsa was not a good deal though). The restaurant became busy after 6 pm. Great place.
The food here was delicious. The carnitas was the best we've ever had, and the mole was authentic. On top of that, our server Magali was wonderful. Her demeanor was friendly and welcoming, and she made sure we had plenty of water and pico.
Nice place with indoor and outdoor seating. Service was very good and fast. Food was good but a little pricey for the portions. Nice drink menu too with good margaritas. The mole mixed with the rice was delicious.
This is really the best Mexican food in the region; organic beef and local vegetables, traditional music and beautiful decor make this a fine dining experience. The restaurant has been in this location for more than 20 years and has received many accolades so it is hardly a secret but I’d not been in a few years and had forgotten how good it really was. Very excellent in every way.
The food was extremely fresh, the service attentive and generous, and the kitchen incredibly fast. A great experience all around.
Super fun mexican restaurant serving surprisingly good food. Loved the mole chicken, snapper, and nachos. Drinks were large and strong.
If you want truly amazing, authentic, fresh and delicious Mexican food, this is the place!! Wow! Everything is cooked to perfection by master chefs! I had the carnitas dish that was out of this world and the guacamole was the BEST that we have ever eaten! I also had a margarita that was exceptional!
Last but not least, the service was A++, with very attentive and caring servers!
We will definitely return to Xicohtencatl Restaurant the next time we’re in Great Barrington! Hands down—it is one of the best restaurants anywhere! Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area!!
My husband and I are from out of town and just happened upon this restaurant. Loved the atmosphere! The inside was very cutely decorated and the word that comes to mind for the outside seating is "oasis". It was fairly busy but we got seated right away. Initially we were seated right near the door with a lot of staff and patrons coming and going so we asked to move to a table tucked in the corner that was empty. Once we got moved, I think we got a little forgotten about. It took about 10 minutes to get water and put in a drink order. Once we were finished our meal, it seems like we sat for at least 15 minutes before getting the check as well.
I had the tequila sunrise and my husband had a house margarita. Both tasted reasonably strong and were tasty! For dinner, I had the carnitas burrito. I consider myself a "carnitas connoisseur" and this burrito did not disappoint. My husband had the nachos appetizer as his meal and was also happy with it.
If we are in the area again, I'd look forward to going back and trying a few other things off their menu!

A very nice, chill.Mexivan place. The food is good, although not breathtaking. One gripe is that it is definitely NOT spicy - which i guess may be an adjustment for local taste. In any case, it is definitely nice and worth dropping by, although not making a special trip to.
I highly highly recommend their chicken tostada it was like heaven ! I am from Arizona and coming to eat here made me feel right at home with authentic Mexican food . I judge a place by its rice and beans and theirs blew me away. Definitely coming back again and again.
