Our visit to Uptown Kitchen was well worth it, despite a considerably long wait due to staffing shortage on the day we stopped in. The staff was definitely feeling the burden (like many service workers in these difficult times), but they did their best to accommodate everyone. On the plus side, we ended up with Jonathan, the owner, as our personal server and he treated us very well with some of the best food during our stay in South Bend. It was truly terrific, not just because we were hungry. Their menu does not disappoint. I would highly recommend giving them your business and enjoying a lovely brunch or lunch meal next time you're in the area. And remember to tip your server well. ;)
Great restaurant! Super friendly, helpful, and informative service. We ate at the bar and the bartender was unbelievable! She explained the menu, the specials, and how they make their food. Everything we ordered was incredible. Uptown Muesli, chicken and noodle soup, and the Uptown Bagel with cream cheese, lox, capers, onions, tomatoes, and cucumbers... Mmmm!!! I would highly recommend the Uptown Kitchen!
Good breakfast brunch spot. The pancakes are fluffy with crispy edges best with blueberries. The potatoes are season well and the eggs are as expected. The toasted sourdough was nice with jam, and I really liked the chicken sausage with fennel seeds.
I've eaten here before and I'll probably eat here again. Also they have nice outdoor seating. The inside looks more like a bar than a brunch spot, but it's all good.
Excellent food, legendary customer service, pristine ambiance. Can't say enough about this wonderful place. The mimosas were awesome, the smoothies were even better, and the cappuccino stole the show! The best part was when the owner, Mr Jonathan Lutz, came to our table and spent an hour getting to know us and comparing all our favorite foods and restaurants. He made us feel like the mist important people in the world. So did our server, Miss Chopper. We can't wait to come back.
We read the reviews and could not resist stopping in as we drove through town. The place right as we walked in smelled amazing! The staff was friendly and welcoming as soon as we stepped in. I had the chicken sausage hash and my partner had eggs/bacon. It was so good. On our way out we were very tempted to try the lavender lemon cake! Maybe next time.
We were impressed with their extensive menu and the quality of the food. It’s often difficult for a restaurant to have so much available while maintaining the good quality of each dish. Our group tried a variety of dishes from different areas of the menu and found them all to be very satisfactory!
The space was colorful and bright. It was a bit busy when we arrived but it didn’t take long to get seated. Our server was kind and the experience was very positive. The pizza crust was incredible, grilled and crispy.
Best mimosas in the area, got the fall special with apple cider and a cinnamon rim. Pancakes are super soft and they have great syrup. The baked oatmeal with steamed milk was also great! Will definitely be back!
