The person who worked here was incredibly rude. After the took my order and my money they told me that they will not work with me to make my food gluten free. When placing the order I told them I needed it to be prepared carefully because I have celiac disease. Chose to go here because they said they can accommodate gluten free. I can understand that preparing food gluten free can be hard, but the person was so incredibly rude about it and did not try to make it work for me at alk

This isn't just a cafe. This is a high-class, must-try restaurant that this town should be proud of. Bixby's in the YMCA sets a new standard for food service in Grand Rapids on every level -- the quality of the food is consistently impeccable, the options are various but straightforward, the staff are always friendly and professional, the prices are sensible, and the portions are generous. It's clear they value sustainability as their dishes and silverware are recyclable and/or biodegradable, and they readily cater to unique dietary needs. It makes me extremely happy to see a business like this in my small town home, and I strongly believe other local businesses should take note and learn a few valuable lessons from this fine establishment. Did I mention they make great coffee AND THEY DELIVER!? What's not to love?

After six months of living in the area I was looking for something fresh and different for lunch and found it at Bixby's! They have a menu reminisce of a sandwich shoppe in San Francisco that I used to love. Today it was the Veggie Supreme wrap (it was like summer in a whole wheat tortilla...so good)....tomorrow the Thai Chicken salad or one of their bowls maybe... I plan on being very equal opportunity in sampling everything they have to offer! :)

I ordered the jumping monkey and the harvest bowl online for pickup. In each line I wrote that I have a severe dairy allergy (it wasn't clear on the menu what might have dairy). Right after submitting the order I received a call from Steven telling me that the jumping monkey had dairy in it from the cappuccino powder. He called to offer me any other smoothie but I was set on getting the jumping monkey. So he helped me figure out what I could do to still get the jumping monkey. He was so knowledgeable of the ingredients that I was able to eat my meal and not worry about any allergens. I definitely found my new lunch spot!

I love Bixby's! They have easy online ordering for takeout or delivery (they save me when I forget how to cook/life gets busy). I love that they care about the ingredients in their food/drinks. Some of my current favorites... Turkey BLT, Breakfast Burrito (with avocado!), Promised Land with coconut milk, Jumpin Monkey, and Lavender Lemonade (OMG! So good). There are so many amazing things on their menu. If you haven't tried Bixby's yet, what are you waiting for?! So. Good. And aside from the food being great and the convenient ordering/delivery options... the team is stellar. You know you are working with a team of people that genuinely care and want to provide the best food and the best experience. That is hard to find.
