My wife and I recently got back from New Orleans and while we were there we tried pretty much all of the cuisine at all the spots that had “the best” NOLA had to offer. After coming back home we found ourselves craving some creole cooking and a quick google search recommended we give Rue a shot. I tell you we did do not regret our decision. Small restaurant with great atmosphere and the food in my opinion was better than anything we had on our trip. If you are in the mood great food and a great experience I highly recommend visiting Rue, you will not regret it.

Two experiences - in house and catering. 1) In house. Fantastic food and drinks and a cool atmosphere. We sat at the bar and ordered several items to share - all were phenomenal. 2) Catering. I reached out on Saturday to see if they could cater for the Bears / Saints game Sunday. Pat was great to work with and the food was all ready (early, at that!!) the next day. Everyone at my house. absolutely loved it. For the record we did seafood bisque (GET THIS!) jambalaya, various tacos, cornbread, and some sides. Everyone was fat and happy and I've got a day or two of delicious leftovers.

My husband is originally from New Orleans. We are always looking for restaurants with New Orleans cuisine. I happened to come across Rue on Yelp. I messaged the restaurant and was quite impressed talking with Patrick, the Manager. We went for dinner last night. The cuisine was as close to Nawlins as you could get in Illinois. It’s not the giant Pappadeaux chain. It’s a small, quaint restaurant tucked off the “Main” street. We will be returning there again!

Rue is cause for celebration, not just somewhere to celebrate! We ordered an elegant and authentic Sazerac to start, crab cakes, hush puppies, jambalaya, and for me, the star of the show, the blackened catfish. Everything was absolutely wonderful. The service was impeccable and warm. The whole vibe was fun. Really felt like a mini vacation. From the lively blues music to the delicate and complex bread pudding, we could not have chosen a better way to celebrate. Rue is special. Go! Eat, drink, and be merry, in style!

Awesome service, awesome food. The whole atmosphere was great. We were celebrating a birthday and they accommodated our party of 15 people. It's a cozy little place. Will definitely go back again.

A place for brilliant Cajun food. Blackened chicken is a perfect balence of spice and flavor. The Creole comes with fantastic shrimp in full shell. Red beans and rice does justice to the tradition of New Orleans. If you are looking for a casual drink with exceptional bites, this is your place.

Great little restaurant... Is an understatement. If you blink you would miss this inviting little piece of the Bayou. The food is delicious and the service is outstanding. As soon as you walk into the establishment you are treated with a smile and are attended right away. Would recommend the gator and a nice little zombie to warm you right up! Try out the restaurant, the owners are amazing and bar staff is talented. Don’t miss out the desert. Try a little of everything. Just make sure your hungry as you will get half way in and not be able to enjoy the dessert menu.

Love this place. Louisiana Cajun flavored dishes that tantalize your taste buds. The food was great and service from their staff was equally as impressive. If you’re a southern cuisine aficionado or just someone looking for a different flavor than the usual, you’ll want to give this place a go! Must try the jambalaya!

My new favorite New Orleans / Cajun style authentic cuisine. Hands down the best shrimp and grits I have ever had. No wonder they call this place Rue, best & flavorful rue I've experienced. I can't wait to come here again and try all their other delicious plates!

The best Cajun/Creole food that I have had outside of New Orleans. Friendly staff that know the menu. All this place needs to get that "New Orleans experience" is a "Mango Mango" next door and some 20 something college brats passed out on the curb! I highly recommend it. The gumbo and Red Beans & Rice will not disappoint. Be sure to wash it all down with a nice, cold, Abita Amber.
