Chocolate bonbon’s, gelato and rum beans are by far worth the drive to Stam. The service is like no other place in GE. Heidi has become like family since we first came in. She always knows our names and what we usually order. If you want great service with a bright smile, go see Heidi at Stam!

I've been eyeing this place for a couple of years and finally had the chance to go! It's such a cute shop. European feels. The chocolates are fresh tasting and they have a huge variety of flavors. The lady was super nice and helped me arrange the perfect box for my friend. Next time I'll go for some coffee with a side of chocolate, can't wait for normal indoor dining again!

Full disclosure, I used to live on an island where cacao was grown and I've been to farms to try the raw cacao bean and watched from bean to bar happen in my neighborhood. That being said this is some decent chocolate for Illinois where the beans come probably partially fermented and maybe even rotted from who knows where. Prices are a bit steep, but what do you expect at an artisan chocolate shop besides some fancy looking and decent tasting chocolate.

As a chocolate adventurer, I’m always on the lookout for quality dark chocolate. I recently visited Chocolaterie Stam, and it was a wonderful experience! The atmosphere was welcoming and a great environment to enjoy some gelato while getting some work done. I also bought some dark chocolate carmels and dark chocolate raspberry treats to take home - they were delicious well-made chocolate. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful about their products. I look forward to trying their cocoa and dark chocolate chips, as well. I’ve already recommended them to a few friends and I’m planning to make this a meeting spot - they do have coffee drinks.

This chocolaterie is a true gem! Drove past it looking for parking to take my daughter and her friend to another restaurant close by. We decided to go there for dessert. Pleasantly surprised to see such a beautiful interior. It reminded me of chocolate shops we visited in Paris. As we selected our chocolates the lady working there was very nice and patient with the children. The chocolates are beautiful and taste amazing! We look forward to our next visit.

Excellent spot! I tried the lemon cookie gelato and my daughter had chocolate. Very good! Can't wait to come back and hit up the homemade chocolates. Glen Ellyn really needed a place like this.

Downtown Glen Ellyn already has some amazing shops, and now a new chocolate and coffee shop?! Yes please. We had the dark chocolate Gelato (super rich, my 6yr old loved it!) and I got myself a cafe latte. The owner was helping us, and she's super friendly and showed us all the shop has to offer. We will definitely be coming back, especially since this is 10mins away and my other favorite chocolate shop is in 45mins away.

European treats, this side of the pond! Chocolaterie Stam, with origins in Amsterdam since 1913, arrived in Glen Ellyn just east of the post office at 530 Pennsylvania Ave. In 1993, President Ton Stam ventured from Amsterdam to Des Moines for financial services, but then in 1997 instead opened the main U.S. location of his family’s chocolate business in Iowa, first initiated from a mall kiosk. (Rochester, MN has chocolate in a mall location, but their main location on Ingersoll in Des Moines near Drake Univ. and Glen Ellyn both have cozy places for this Hawkeye to sit and savor.) Chocolate is shipped in from Amsterdam, and then special creations are made in Des Moines and sent to their few Midwest shops, notably to me in Glen Ellyn. (We lived in Wheaton for 22 years, and whenever I am in town, I always enjoy Stam!) Owner Liz Mager continues the rich Stam history at their Glen Ellyn location. Appreciate sitting with friends in their comfy chairs with Stam's signature eggplant-colored decor to visit and enjoy special treats. Love their chocolate, coffee, gelato (yummy cherry cheesecake), my fave mocha sticks, dark chocolate coconut bon bons, and licorice in a very European-style atmosphere. It's all quality, from the chocolate to their unique boxes. They ship all over the U.S., too. (I know firsthand). I don't work for them, but I do love their goodies! Well worth a visit there (and even an extra trip to the gym).
