What a wonderful experience! It was our first time at Spicy Green Bean and we were blown away by the friendly and professional staff, eclectic atmosphere, and absolutely delicious food. Our waiter, Jay, was over the top friendly and welcoming and our breakfasts were greatly portioned and delicious. The menu is unique and everything we ate was superb. Can't wait to go back for dinner!
A 'Go To' that is top notch- The challenge is to select something- anything- from this great place. Sat at a 'Chef's Table' once and am a better person for it!!
Everything was amazing!!! We had the sweet potato and panko encrusted chicken sandwich, the tomato basil bisque, and the spinach salad with grilled shrimp. This was an A+ lunch for a great price. Can't say enough about it.
Great food. Have been going to Spicy Green Bean for quite a while and have always had a great experience. The food is awesome and I love the quirky combinations that always seem to work. The ingredients are ALWAYS fresh. I have had catering from them as well and the food has always been well received.
Good Sandwiches. I have taken-out or eaten in here about a dozen times always ordering a sandwich or soup. Sometimes I have had to wait a few extra minutes to be served, in-house and take-out, but it's usually around the lunch hour. The food makes up for the wait. The menu has some interesting sandwiches. Each one I've tried has been very tasty.
I LOVE the food here! Very creative and always very tasty. I'm always happy when I take out from here. Dining in is a bit of a different story. Service is slow. We came for breakfast and it took forever for coffee refills and we had to ask. It literally took at least 20 minutes to get the check (which we also had to ask for) after we finished. Again, food's awesome, but dine-in service not so much.
We had breakfast here once and I plan to come back again. The food is so great, the only con is finding parking and seats as it is small but so worth the wait
Good Grub!. This place has delicious food that is very fresh. The menu changes constantly and nothing sits in that kitchen. I thought from the name that it was a "vegetarian" place, but learned on my first visit that it has excellent meat and fish entrees. The chef has a great imagination and her concoctions just seem to work perfectly. I just noticed that the menu is featuring an appetizer known as, "Quido's Provaletta". This is a specialty from Argentina that involves a round of Italian Provalone cheese about half an inch thick that is roasted with Italian seasonings. Think of the very best part of a pizza and you have "Provaletta"! It's a real treat - just like everything else on the menu. By the way, the wait staff here is well-trained, knowledgeable and the best that you will find in the Greater Hartford area - finally a place that gets it all right!. This place is the ecelectic winner that Glastonbury has always been missing.

Decadent. Trying to write a review for The Spicy Green Bean is like trying to find the words for my wedding vows! I absolutely am in love with this place and no words of mine can do it justice. I started off loving this place as a little lunch dive with great atmosphere and amazing menu choices! I frequented this place for the "tommy salami" , a genoa sandwich that was piled high with salami, provolone, pickle mayo, chimmichurri oil, roasted red peppers, and spicy green beans(my mouth waters while typing) . The sandwiches come with two sides that change daily and if you dont get yourself a side of their 3 potato salad or spanish rice salad once in your life you will have not fully lived! Now, the bean is offering dinner service and unbelievably has impressed me even more! The waitstaff is friendly, efficient and TOP NOTCH. One night we dined for dinner with my 7 year old and the server actually helped him pass a level on his handheld video game system. The dinner menu changes weekly, but some items not to miss are the fall off the bone glazed short ribs, summer rolls, crab cakes and the cowboy cut ribeye. I have yet to have a meal here that did not leave my longing for my next trip back. Dont miss out on the dessert options, drop into the back and drool over key lime cupcakes or coconut ricotta cake, or even treat yourself with a toffee cookie. This place is a must and if you haven't been yet, it should be on your planner for next week!!!
We went on a very busy Saturday morning. While the wait for a table wasn't too bad, it did take a while to get the food. I'd go back for the atmosphere and those breakfast potatoes, but might bring something else to keep the kiddos occupied next time!
My sister recommended this place and I ordered takeout. The place itself is beautiful and they have ample outdoor seating and there was live music on a Thursday night. The PB&J wings were cooked to perfection and the sauces were amazing. The ahi tuna taco was delicious and packed great wasabi punch. and The empanadas were super flavorful and the pastry was still crispy. Will definitely come back!
I had my daughter's baby shower at The Spicy Green Bean and the food was awesome and service was outstanding! The manager, Jenna, and staff were very attentive to our needs and made the event super special for my daughter and our guests. I recommend The Spicy Green Bean to anyone for an event. You will not be disappointed! The brunch is unbelievable too!
I hosted a baby shower and had The Spicy Green Bean cater the event. My guests absolutely loved the food. I worked with Jenna to plan the menu and can't say enough about how easy and pleasant the whole experience was. The food was delicious and unique. Several of my guests from out of town are planning to visit the restaurant which is a huge testament to how very good the meal was.
One of the few woman owned restaurants in town. Great staff and fun atmosphere. Can get very loud but if you're lucky they have live music on some days.
Food is great, have had both delivery and dine in. Twist on mainly American food and portions are a good size.
Only complaint is that the food isn't always consistently the same. Ordered the special chicken Cuban and both times felt like completely different meals, including sides and inclusion of a desert.
Fantastic food & atmosphere! Sat near the bar, got a bloody mary which was delicious, enjoyed the special which was fried dough with a blueberry crumble topping and a side of maple kielbasa as well as a scramble. The bartender was super friendly, too! Can't wait to go again for a cute brunch with my friends.
Holy cow. This is the first time in a long time that I was floored with my meal. Wow. It was just so delicious. Who thought an eggplant sandwich could be this good. Also when I requested my fries to be a bit well done to get them a wee bit crunchy while still being soft.. They delivered. Jenna is crushing it and helps to provide a phenomenal experience not just the food. My buddy had a burger and he enjoyed every last bite. I already know what I'm getting next time. Go and support this phenomenal restaurant.
