Oh, my!! Where do I start? My cousin and I decided to head over to this place after reading about burgers in Galveston. These big burgers were perfectly cooked and best we've had in a very long time. Tydings was behind the bar and a pleasure meet! He recommended a new dark stout, which after a taste I ordered immediately, because I love good beer with a burger. It did not disapoint. He then showed off his craft by preparing his version of an old fashion that not only was delicious, but looked fancy schmancy. A great meal, friendly service. Fun atmosphere! Y'all... don't pass this place up!
A great place to get a Texas sized burger. The food was good and delivered promptly. It was quite warm in the building. It could definitely use more AC. It has a unique decor. Also, there was live music which I always find enjoyable. The server was kind and helpful. I rated it a little lower because there was only one server and he was the cashier as well. FYI you have to order at the bar. If you have not been to the strand, a couple if things you should know is that parking is expensive$15-$20. There are a lot of great shops and if it’s a weekend performers as well.
We had been there three other times and were still unaware that the menus needed to be grabbed when you first walk in and sit yourself. The bartender/order taker had to grab us one and almost seemed to be bothered because when I asked for a menu he proceeded to tell me that we walked right by them when we walked in. I initially was bothered by it but brushed it off. When I ordered our food and drinks, he was much more pleasant and I just let it go. Sometimes, how things are said, can have an impact as well as how we react. It is all good though and we enjoyed the food (Philly cheesesteak burger and coastal chili dog with hell fries and regular fries). We also enjoy the comfortable and eclectic vibe. I also enjoyed a seldom enjoyed Modelo.
I have nothing but praise for this place. We got there decently late, around 9, but they let us order and got it out fast.
I got the Hangover Burger, amazing, especially after a day of drinking and beach fun, plus an order of Country Fries. The burger is huge, like I'm not kidding, so heavy, so filling, so yum.
One of my friends got the Tamale Burger, picture attached. Soo soo good and they're house sodas were great. We got rootbeer and a cream soda, both excellent.
Vibe was good, music was good, people were good, price was good.
Would go again, thanks guys.
Awesome atmosphere. Very chill. Bartender was welcoming and made good drinks.
Fun place to visit while at the strand. Super humid inside and loud live music before 11pm made it difficult to hear people at your table. Have to order food at the bar past a certain time. Burgers were good (but super messy) and fries were amazing.
Galveston- The downtown area is always busy, and it is challenging to find a place to eat. We found Hubcap Grill and decided to give it a try. The restaurant was swamped. We dine in anyway. We ordered our meal at the bar. The food took a while, but we didn’t mind. The burgers were fresh and a nice big piece of lettuce and tomato.
Burgers came out and were very tasty. Owner is friendly and so are the people who work here. Would recommend.
Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday. Ordered drinks and food. The drinks were forgotten and had to remind the bartender we ordered them, but everything was really delicious.
I got the sticky burger which was amazing and the country fries (gravy was soooo good!)
Definitely want to try some of the other specialty burgers on the menu
Stopped in based on some other reviews, amazing stock of bourbons and whiskeys. Staff was exceptional and the owner passionate and very knowledgeable about the bar stock. Highly recommend!
