Taquilo's Tex-mex Cantina

This was the best food I have ever had. The guacamole was excellent, the ingredients tasted so fresh. The spinach enchiladas tasted homemade, the bacon wrapped shrimp were divine, not greasy and came on a bed of grilled onion which were cooked to perfection. We got there during happy hour so of course I had a watermelon margarita. Manny was our server and he went above and beyond for us. The prices were so reasonable for the quality of food and service we received. Hands down the best restaurant experience I have ever had.

The cilantro avocado cream dip was AMAZING! We would have perfectly happy eating that with the chips and salsa… but of course we went all out. We ordered the Island Summer Plate & special plate with a chicken & beef enchilada. The special plate was great. Rice was amazing. The chicken was slightly over cooked. Island plate was also delicious. Our waitress was great with offering suggestions. She was very attentive. We did not have to wait to be sat. I appreciate the fact they have interior and exterior seating.

This Tex-Mex place has my heart with their Lobster Shrimp Tacos. Creamy, melt in the mouth delicious Lunch special on a blazing hot afternoon of scavenger hunting. It was enough food for 2 hungry souls to split and be very satisfied! Taquilo’s was the perfect location for a break, and their food / colorful atmosphere is energizing! Quick and kind service and good recommendations. Also loved the beans cooked with bacon and spices!

Very nice visit. Ordered chicken besos for apps. Okay, they were way over cooked. They came in a cold skillet with cold onions that were barely grilled. 2/10 The chicken nachos were perfect 10/10. The combo plate was good, but there was just a drizzle of gravy 7/10. It would have scored higher with more gravy because the gravy was delicious. Regular margarita, watermelon margarita,, and ocean water were all made very well.

Easily the best meal we had during our stay in Galveston! We ordered the mixed grill for two and it was a TON of food! Definitely had leftovers. Everything was fresh and delicious down to the chips and salsa! Paul gave us very fast and friendly service despite the restaurant being very busy. As someone who spent 10+ years working in the food service industry, I appreciate efficiency and value when it comes to my dining experience and this restaurant offered both. Thank you Paul for the excellent service!

My daughter and I wanted to get some lunch after dropping friends off at the cruise terminal. She suggested this place as it was 5 minutes away. We were shown to our table quickly and our server immediately took our drink order. There was a great variety of Tex-Mex dishes on the menu but I'm not a big eater so I got the shrimp quesadillas. They tasted fresh and delicious. Service was excellent and the tortilla chips never got empty. The salsa was pretty spicy but that's a matter of personal taste. We really enjoyed our visit and will be back when we are next in the area.
