My boyfriend and I popped in for an afternoon pick-me-up after exploring the harbor a little bit. Honest to goodness it was the best decision we made the whole trip. Best ham and cheese croissant we've ever had and it was fresh out of the oven. The coffee was also excellent, and the staff was SO FRIENDLY and so helpful. We swore that we'd come back to visit if only to come back to Cafe Demeter! If you are looking for a wonderful place to stop and grab a bite and a buzz, this place is IT!

Delicious and varied breakfast options. We ended up coming here 2 days in a row it was that good. There wasn’t anything my friend and I tried that we didn’t like.
They have various baked goods, quiches and sandwiches. Food items can be heated up. I liked that they had several non-coffee drink options along with all the regular coffee stuff.
Both the chai latte and turmeric latte were good. Loved the almond croissant and quiche. The biscotti is slightly softer than at other places, which I found I preferred(you’re not going to break a tooth trying to chew it).
Counter serve (you order and pickup at counter) with quick service. Bus your own table. Friendly staff. They have a few tables inside and some outside too.
Also, they donate proceeds from specific baked goods to rotating nonprofits (they’ll have signs up with the current specified food item and nonprofit beneficiary).

We stopped by for a quick lunch and ended up having a wonderful coffee break with very sticky sweet rolls and a turkey sandwich on croissant, as they were unfortunately out of regular styles of bread. I recommend getting there early when you want something specific, or just showing up anytime they are open. If our lunch was any indication, everything they make is high quality. Turns out they were fairly inexpensive compared to other island cafes on Lopez and Orcas.
The baristas and other staff helped make sure our experience was what we wanted and were super nice as well.

Excellent pastries. We tried the carrot muffins, a couple of the kiches, the cinnamon buns, and the almond cake. We did not like the bagels. They were very small and too chewy. The coffee and tea is very good. We specially like the green tea with lemongrass.

I didn’t dine in but rather had some of their pastries from the farmers market. The mini lemon tart was so perfect and light. I could have eaten 5. The almond croissant was SOOOO delicious. It was the perfect treat.

It is a cute little cafe with delicious pastries. I have to warn you though that you will be confused with the options they provide. All of them very delicious..
The best part is, well two things:
1. They are very Eco friendly
2. They donate for a cause: justice and equality( when we were there)
Highly encourage to visit this cute tiny bakery on your trip to San Juan.

Excellent coffee, tea, delicious pastries, sandwiches. Service is very friendly. Because of Covid-19, indoor seating was limited. Outdoor seating is available. This place is a hidden gem!

Cute cafe close to the ferry (visit while you wait) with a wide selection of pastries plus soups and sandwiches.
Four stars because pastries are dense and weighed down by butter and/or toppings. The almond croissant is quite sweet and the filling is quite syrupy. I personally prefer my pastry flaky (but not dry) and would opt for Bakery San Juan every time (if I have the time).
Special shout out to the croissant cinnamon roll though: for those who prefer pastry to yeasted bread dough (not I), this is a very special pastry. Sugared just the right amount, moist, and buttery. While not my jam, I can still appreciate it for the work of art it is.

Great people, great food, great drinks. We ended up here two mornings in a row to sample more of the menu (and we were not disappointed). I really liked the golden turmeric tea!
