Mayta's Peruvian Cuisine

Mayta's has a relaxed pleasant atmosphere. Our waitress was kind and helpful and it was a very short wait for our food. Everything we ordered tasted delicious and was the perfect temperature. We drove 45 minutes to check this place out based on previous reviews. We were not disappointed and will be back again! Try the rice and purple corn pudding for dessert!

Being Peruvian and new to Frederick I wanted to find some good Peruvian chicken. This was probably the first Peruvian restaurant that didnt have it ( or run out) . They suggested a Peruvian parrilada and I agreed , also ordered a ceviche. What I got for $30 was a big peace of dry chicken , three pieces of overcooked -hard steak and 3 shrimps. The ceviche was good but for $18 I would expect more than a couple of ounces of fish. Adding some pictures from a real parrillada from another restaurant ( for comparison ) . It is not only better , but cost less. Completely overpriced for what they sell, wont try it again.

Everything about this place was wonderful! Great service from the moment our party of 4 stepped into the door. Everyone's food was piping hot, cooked perfectly, and BURSTING WITH FLAVOR! I personally had the Calamari and the "Tasting Kabob" which came with shrimp, steak, and chicken... fried plantains and chaufa rice as a side. We will definitely be back!

This place is Peruvian perfection! Amazing crazy Mayan corn, delicious sauces to compliment healthy portions of Cholito Peruvian salad and chicken, steak and shrimp kabobs with yuca fritas that are cooked to crispy perfection. Dont leave without trying the Blue Corn Cream Ale beer. It's light and sweet with a smooth after taste. Highly recommend. This is hands down a 5 star restaurant. Kudos to the chef and owner, they Rock!

Absolutely a hidden GEM 💎 for our date night! The authenticity of the food was Amazing & so were the drinks! Everything is made fresh every day as we found out by talking with the owners they gave very personal touch which made our experience here even better! We can't wait to go again & plan to follow their Food Truck on wknds at the wineries!!

First time trying and my wife (she is Peruvian) was excited to try and got our food and drinks to go. Staff was friendly and very quick for great quality food. Gave us a mountain of condiments that were delicious! I even enjoyed the "eco friendly" containers as we did orderer a lot of food. Surprised and disappointed not to to see any cancha in anything! The only condiments I didn’t care for was the ahi verde which was not very hot and tasted more like a mix of herbs or something that I could not put my finger on. The redish sauce was probably an aji panca and was incredible! It was smooth and weirdly smokey and I could probably put it on anything and enjoy it Roasted choclo was awesome but did not understand the salsa that came with it and kinda stunk it up and would probably be better with queso fresco isntead. huancaina sauce seemed buttery and certainly different than I was used to yet still very enjoyable. The lomo saltado was sadly bad for me. Needed more juice and the juice seemed unusual and sweeter and maybe had balsamic vinaigrette. Would preferred my steak more charred and medium rare inside. They successfully didnt overcook the vegetables but I felt I did not get enough of them. Jalea was great but wish the yucca was a little more crispy (however I did get it to go and understand it probably got a little soggy). Salsa was excellent on it. However, I wish their octopus was bigger, more shrimp and I see lots of less reputable places also include shellfish as well which would certainly be nice to see. I was very confused with the cup of black sauce that came with it. It was some sort of balsamic vinegar based sauce that I just did not understand personally and was just annoyed to even see it next to the food. Wife was most excited about aji de gallina but she did not like it because of how the chicken was prepared and it being too spicy for her. I got a couple bites of gristle or something out of it as well, but still personally enjoyed it. We also go Sangria to go which was delicious but would have been happy to buy another shot of pisco to make it stronger. What surprised me the most was the Purple Corn Cream Ale beer that I got to go. I honestly figured it would be horrible but I am sitting here writing this review still drinking it and loving it. The beer is incredible and almost a dessert like chicha. Sweet in velvety smooth and very impressed. The chicken and cilantro rice was a winner for both of us and had no complaints. Excellent, however, my wife did not appreciate the salsa on the rice. I certainly plan to go back soon and probably try another 4 or 5 dinner items to see if I give a higher review. I would personally like to try the anticuchos and some ceviche and their ice creams. They have Lucuma ice cream and I am curious if they personally make it.
