I've been going to Tokies since the 80's when they were in Charter Square in Foster City. It was always a great time with great food. Tokies Downtown has upped their game with a great bar and bartender! Same really good food but now there's a bar where you can sit and enjoy drinks and your meal. Definitely recommend their sashimi. 🍣🍤🍙🍶🍻🍸🥃
FRESH and delicious sushi. I am very particular about the quality of fish I am served while eating sushi and this place has been consistently good. The cherry on top is the amazing family that runs the restaurant. They are so kind and helpful. Highly recommend!!!
Always delicious! Their salmon sashimi is my favorite: good price, large pieces and super fresh everytime! Another favorite is the tofu steak: three flavors with the broth onion and mushroom are unlike anything I've had before, so savory and yummy!! Great service and food everytime we go. This is our go to sushi place!
Until our dishes arrived I thought this place was slightly pricey. But the food was very good and a fair value and totally recommended trying. The places feels dignified, the host is impeccable - she was friendly and knowledgeable, the server was not up to her level - he was friendly but not quite vested in providing great service nor being fully familiar or finding out about dishes he was unsure of. He was very pleasant, but requests were forgotten and needed reminders that sort of thing. Regardless totally try this place because the food scrumptious.
Oh the chairs are armless and accessible and vegan and vegetarian choices were comfortably accommodated by the menu.

As we enter the third year of this challenging pandemic, we miss you guys and gals so much. We are still hoping that Victor will retire in Costa Rica, near our town so that we may once again, sit at the sushi bar and eat the most wonderful creations with the best fish and the kindest people. The rolls are average. (Vin's special and Jeffrey tasted ok) the chawanmushi is a little watery but tasted delicious and was generous with ingredients!
Best sushi place in San Mateo. Recommended by a friend and did not disappoint. The fish was fresh and delicious.
First time and I love the food. Everything is excellent. Service is great. I would come back to eat again.
