14 years and we haven’t missed eating at Whistling Swan while vacationing in Door County. Definitely our favorite. Fantastic friendly staff, great atmosphere, best food in the county. Menu is always changing to reflect what’s in season from the local farms. Chef does a great job and there’s never a bad choice on the menu. If you see something you think you’ll like, get it, you won’t be disappointed.
The Whistling Swan is our favorite spot in Fish Creek. We come to Door County every year in October for the colors, and we always make a point to eat dinner here. The food is phenomenal (best prime rib I've ever had), the atmosphere is exceptional, and the service is impeccable. This year my boyfriend (now fiancé) proposed to me right in the dining room! It's "our spot" and there's absolutely no place like it. Robert and James are two excellent employees who give outstanding customer service. We love the Whistling Swan, and it's a MUST if you're in Door County.
This Inn is the oldest in the Door Peninsula. It has been hauled across the frozen Bay... It has charm! They have done a great job renovating and they are attempting to make enough money this season to do the additional renovating to get this place as damper as people want it to be! It is a work in progress but you can tell alot of love has and is being poured into this place! The price is fantastically reasonable in contrast to the surrounding lodging. The cocktails in the bar were not only great but also very reasonable cost-wise. We had the fish boil directly across the street and shopping is literally steps away.
The floors are creaky and the walls are thin, but that's what comes with an old, beautiful building! We will absolutely be coming back to stay amd see how they continue to grow and succeed in the coming years!
We had dinner here last night. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. We didn't have to wait too much! So we had a really great time! 😊
My family and I had a wonderful experience here. We were a large party celebrating multiple birthdays and the service was incredible. Friendly, helpful, and genuine the whole evening. Delicious menu and great wine selection made this our new favorite spot in town!
A hidden Door County jewel located iwithin walkable Fish Creek Main Street. This restaurant, located in a historic inn is a great place for couples or a group of adult friends to dine within an attractive setting that includes an enclosed porch or a lovely dining room. Not a place to bring children, the menu offers several delicious offerings that include slightly different takes on classic dishes --- just enough to make one say "wow"! There are also a few offerings for those with a more adventurous palette and an attractive bar where one can enjoy a special wine or a locally sourced craft beer....highly recommend!
Brunch menu is amazing, wonderful food and cocktails. A definite must-stop in Fish Creek
Delighted to finally have visited this low key restaurant. We found the inside porch seating quiet and comfortable, and for a change, well spaced. Wish Chicago would look at how they do business. I had their Bourbon Barrel Lunatic draft beer with the bolognese and it worked as well as a wine. Even my non-beer drinking wife thought it was good. And the service could not have been more friendly. Such a relaxing meal.
We ended up having dinner here very "last minute," as we got back from our afternoon activities later than planned and didn't realize how late it was. We tried a few places closer to where we were staying, but many were either closed for the season, closed for the evening or not taking any more guests due to the later time. My wife called and was told if we could be there soon that we would be able to have dinner.
I certainly wasn't expecting much, but the restaurant was very clean and definitely a bit more "upscale," than anywhere else we've eaten on our trip. We got a beautiful corner table and never felt rushed the entire time we were there, even though they were obviously finishing up for the evening. Our Server was very professional and went through the menu with us and made a few recommendations as well. For starters, we had a garden vegetable salad, which was rally nice - much better than I expected after eating around the area for the last week. We also had their interpretation of "Prosciutto & Melon," which was bette than any version I've had before, including the times I've had it in Italy. This version was served with fresh burrata cheese and was simply amazing. For entrées, one of my daughters had the vegetarian bucatini, which was awesome. I had the fish and chips, which was better than any I've had in quite a long time. My wife and one of my other daughters had the pork chop, which they both loved, and my youngest had a cheeseburger, which was really great as well. The presentation on everything was really great, down to the smallest details.
For desserts, we had a homemade black raspberry sorbet that was really refreshing, but the best dessert was the chocolate cake, served with a creamy homemade caramel ice cream. When my wife commented on how good the cake was, our Server told us that her aunt owns a local bakery and makes the cakes for the Restaurant, which definitely makes sense - I bake a lot where I work back home, but getting a cake this moist layered as evenly as theirs isn't something you can achieve in most Restaurant Kitchens.
As a professional chef of over twenty years, I was blown away, not only by the service and food, but also by how welcoming the entire staff was. From the moment we walked in to the second we left, everyone we interacted with was very friendly and extremely welcoming. Speaking from experience, I can tell you that late tables at the end of the night certainly aren't something that we look forward to in the Kitchen. Not once during my meal did any of us feel rushed in any way.
Next time we're back in Door County, we definitely plan on visiting this gem several times. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who appreciates fine locally-sourced cuisine. I would give six stars if I could!
Hotel review - very comfy beds, clean and simple bathrooms, great to have a parking lot, and quiet (we stayed on a Sunday night only which means the restaurant was closed). Loved how you were downtown fish creek and didn’t need to drive anywhere. If they make any future renovations, I suggest ceiling fans in the bedrooms and maybe a nightlight in the bathroom. Thank you
I went to the restaurant for brunch and was highly impressed with its cozy upscale atmosphere. The food was quality, it was perfectly prepared and nicely presented in attractive dishware. My pancakes came with real maple syrup. My hot tea was unforgettable. They serve real loose leaf tea which I tried for the first time ever. I don’t think I can go back to tea bags after that. Even the french fries tasted better than elsewhere. I am so glad to have discovered this place and will return.
We have done the Perfect Weekend Getaway three years in a row here and have had a wonderful experience every time. The staff is wonderful and a pleasure to chat with. The food is delicious and we have never had a bad dish. I have Celiac Disease and the kitchen has been more than accommodating and I've never had an issue. We always look forward to staying here!
