Shrimp Basket

My husband and I were traveling from our home in Gulf Shores to Birmingham. Shrimp Basket is one of our favorite places in Gulf Shores, so we decided to stop for some catfish and gumbo. We were one of 2 couples there. I ordered a drink while we finalized our menu choices. We were ready to place the order, but our server was busy chatting with the 2 other servers, one of whom was the manager. About 5 minutes later she brought my drink and took our order. After 20 minutes, I went up to ask about our order. She said it was ‘coming out now.’ 10 minutes later my husband went up to cancel the order, as we had not gotten it yet. The order was coming out at that point, so we accepted it. When I asked about the problem, the explanation we got was that our order had been thrown away. Newly arrived guests had someone in their party who was allergic to shrimp. The staff thought it I was the one with the allergy. No one bothered to tell us of the problem. When the server brought the food, I asked if the manager was there. With a bit of an attitude, she pointed and said ,”She’s the girl over there. Why? Is there anything wrong with your food? Does it taste bad?” In the end, my husband’s meal was discounted 50%. The manager never came to apologize or ask if everything was made right. We will never stop here again. I intend on having a chat with the people in Gulf Shores to see if this is the norm for restaurants north of the gulf. 4.7.22

My family and I came in last night, a busy Friday night. Kayla was our server and did a wonderful job. She kept our drinks full without even asking us! The couple next to us seemed to be giving her a problem due to them being out of a couple of items. She handled it professionally and didn’t let them bother her. We will definitely be back and hope she is there when we do!
