Da Jerk Pit

The spaghetti barely had sauce the greens on the menu was called turkey greens with no meat in it The yams were very un seasoned I had to add my own brown suger the cake was very hard tasted like yesterday cake left out only thing was good was the jerk chicken Please add more season to the food Also on the menu it Said spaghetti was th beef meat lol it had no meat at all just sauce and strings

I just wanted to say coming from NYC I was highly skeptical of the food, reason why I’m saying this because 99% of the Jamaican Caribbean food in Chicago is not that well. But Da Jerk Pit is fire 🔥 I walked in the smell of the food reminds me of the restaurants in Jamaicaa, you can smell the patties aka beef patties freshly baked. The restaurant is very clean they don't offer Dine in at the moment because of covid regulations.The wife and husband have a great chemistry and they greet you with a smile. Please make sure you wear a mask if you don't have one they will provide one for you free of cost. I order a large stew chicken with Mac and cheese on the side with a Mango 🥭 pineapple 🍍 ginger Juice The juice was freshly made and the food was to die for you hear me. You can Taste the Spices in the stew chicken packed with flavor the chicken was not dryed out at all which is a problem for many stew chicken but they nailed it because the chicken was packed with flavor. I must say the Mac and Cheese was everything perfect side dash. If you are in town or coming to visit Chicago please give them a visit or if you are local this is a hidden Gem.

I've tried this place 3x and each time something was wrong. 1st order was the curry chicken (because they ran out of jerk chicken) and it was salty as hell. 2nd order was a half white jerk dinner and I received 1/4 white and 1/4 dark instead of the half white meat that I ordered. I went back yesterday because I was really hungry and got the half white jerk dinner. This time I got all white as ordered but it was salty as hell and over seasoned with whatever cheap jerk sauce they use. I did however get a full refund for the 3rd order. I'm sorry but 3 strikes and you're out! I won't refer this place to anybody because it's not worth the hefty price for such horrible food.

It's okay. Tried their jerk chicken twice. First time was last year. I thought it was flavorful, but was heavy handed w/the sauce on the chicken and it was a bit pricey. It's Evanston so that's to be expected even when the food/service doesn't match. This year, sauce was on the side thank goodness because it was NOT good. Tasted like watered down jerk marinade from a grocery store. Chicken was majorly dried out and salty. Had to eat with another jerk place sauce that I keep on reserve in my freezer. Clean establishment with pleasant employees.

I went there as a first timer and I originally ordered the jurk burger but when I asked if it was spicy the lady said yes so I asked her if she had something that wasn't spicy because I dont eat spicy food (because it makes me sick) so she recommended the curry chicken I waited 45 minutes and when I asked what time the food would be ready she said she had told me it was going to take 15 min when I ordered it but it was way past 15 min and she never told me that, then they forgot to give me my mac n cheese so I had to wait for that the cook gave her my mac n cheese and she gave it to an other costumer! When I finally sat down to eat, the food was spicy I was so hungry I ate it but I barely made it home before getting sick I'm never going back !
