Swami's Cafe

I am giving three stars for we have never had bad service at the Swami's in Encinitas. The people are always cordial, friendly & our servers are typically honest and caring. Having said that, however, the last two times our food either came out late (After a very long wait, longer than normal even when crowded.), cold or made altogether wrong. We love Swami's but these potentially problematic issues are not a good trend to fall into. I am hoping with a little encouragement, they will reset and tweak some things that seriously need tweaking before they get completely out of control forcing us to consider whether or not we would go back again in the future...especially with Corner Bakery across the street starting to look evermore inviting (We haven't been there yet but hear it's pretty good.)... First of all, stop sending out cold food. OMG! We are tired of getting cold eggs! Secondly, STOP over cooking (Or sometimes under cooking) the bacon, my wife and I would like to keep all of our teeth, please, thank you. Thirdly, some batters require more liquid than others (See an example of the horribly made Organic Whole Wheat Pancakes I got below). Some of these batters, like the Whole Wheat or Gluten Free batters require more liquid to keep them together. More so than a regular baking flour mix. My wife and I know this from experience and we are both experienced home cooks. When you make such batters with too little liquid guess what happens...?...have a look below (Or above, I don't know where google puts the photos in the reviews.). Not good at all y'all, please fix this and we will be coming back again very soon to see if any of these issues have been taken to heart or if Swami's really is just another "Big" restaurant chain that cares more about the bottom line than the customers satisfaction. Again, our issues have been food quality issues, not server or service issues.

My mother and I tried Swami's for dinner since we were looking for a local casual place to have dinner. The service was so slow the table behind us finally had to go get a waitress to get drinks. I ordered the chicken piccata which I have had at many restaurants. This did not look like or taste like chicken piccata. It was awful.

I walked up to Swami’s at 4:30pm on a Friday afternoon. The closed sign was up. I’m confused. The sign literally says they are supposed to open at 4pm. I walk back to my car to leave...I then watch another family walk up to the door frustrated to see the ‘closed sign.’ Lo and behold, the door slowly opens. They go in. I get out of my car, and I go in. I talk with one of the waitresses in the restaurant — “sorry, we’re supposed to be open, but the cooks haven’t showed up yet...”— oh... It’s 4:57pm now, the chef just showed up. He will need 15 minutes to prep and then we will be seated. Pretty unprofessional if you ask me....
