I am from Michigan- visited Doug's twice on other trips. I crave their Southern cooking, and feel more welcome here and at home with the Real Americans in North Georgia than anywhere else. I was born up north but I truly enjoy Southern Hospitality!

Omg this place was wonderful. I ate the Chicken Livers with Mashed potatoes and Baked Mac n Cheese with Cornbread and brown gravy. This was the best home cooked meal I have had in a long time. The chicken livers melted in your mouth. The waitresses were wonderful and always remember to treat them with respect. They work hard for their money and don't need harassed by ones that have no manners. Just remember treat your females like how you want your daughters to be treated. One day you may get that lap full of ice tea and maybe then you will be respectful❤😘

A legendary location in Emerson. Home style cooking and a quick turn for lunch. Can sound like a Thanksgiving with all the family, but always a predictable outcome

The Great: fried okra, chicken liver, collard greens, pillowy biscuits. The Okay: vegetable beef stew uses ground beef. It's actually pretty good as is but seems like it could be better. The Meh: I don't think we'll be getting the cornbread again as it was fairly flavorless. Service always great and such an interesting and authentic vibe to the place. Prices are very reasonable and portions are typically southern sized (large). Covid notes: if you are concerned about catching covid, not many customers wear masks and many people are in close proximity to another.

We experienced Doug's Place this morning and we are SO glad we did. Our waitress Jenny was simply the best and we had the opportunity to meet the owner and she was so knowledgeable about the history and area. Make sure you get the Brown gravy! It will take you back to childhood dinners at Granny & Papa's house.

This place right here if your want good old fashioned breakfast then this place is the one!!! You will not find a place with ole fashioned true sawmill gravy like my grandma or even my Daddy made anywhere else I know of except here!!! True home made biscuits & as dark yellow yoke egg as I've seen anywhere else... Whether it's Tenderloin plate, country ham, city ham, sausage, or Bacon plate you won't find a more satisfying breakfast as here!... Love the atmosphere and the people altogether are like & treat you like family!!!... Enjoy
