Billy Sims Bbq

So I'm here for a few days of rest and relaxation for me and Casino fun for my husband, & was looking for a place to eat. I saw the reviews for this place and had high hopes! My husband brought it to our hotel room and the ONLY reason it wasn't returned is I'm unable to stand very long and I didn't want to have him go back over there. This was AWFUL! The ribs were thin and dry! They clearly had been heating up since morning and this was purchased after 7pm. Hopefully they do better in the mornings! There is no excuse however for the thin meatless ribs that they serve! I also had brisket that was very tender! A little too tender with no seasoning at all! It had a nice smoke ring so I think it was too tender because it also had been sitting under heat all day! The BBQ beans were pinto beans with some shredded meat and lots of sugar added and zero bbq sauce or anything that goes in BBQ beans. I had what's called loaded potato salad It was made well and although I didn't care for it, I think that was my fault because I was looking for a different kind as there are many ways to make it. My husband liked it though and he is hard to please! The BEST thing I had was the Barbecue sauce! It was Awesome! Sorry but this place is a NO for me!

Sadly we have to rate this place 2* because it has slipped that far in the three years we have been in Durant. When we moved to Durant in 2019 this BBQ restaurant was the best! We used to take all our out of town visitors to eat at Billy Sims BBQ. The last few times we have been in the restaurant is near empty, the staff is slow and not customer service oriented. Today's visit will be the last until we see some changes. Today we phoned in a order for 2 Sandwich plates, the person taking the order was rude, argued with me over menu items, would not take my name and when my husband got back with our order there was no BBQ sauce with our sandwiches, both were so dry it was like eating saw dust. I called the restaurant to remind them not to send out take out orders with no sauce and no cutlery for the sides. Again, rudeness. They got the last money they will get from us, not because the food was bad but because of the people working there who do not pay attention, are argumentative and rude. There's probably a reason the parking lot is always empty. Hopefully the owner will see this and make proper corrections to the staff.

I ordered the pulled pork special sandwich and asked for slaw on the sandwich, very unfriendly server we don't do that you have to get the more expensive sandwich to get slaw. My husband ordered a 2 meat combo and was advised we weigh everything so you get what you get very over priced for the little about they give you. The customer service was poor as soon as you walked in employees are sitting down at tables and when they finished taking order went right back to same table to rest on the clock. That is ridiculous. Do not recommend.

It's a little pricey but not ridiculously. The food is good, except the beans aren't really BBQ beans. They seem more like plain brown beans. Now their loaded potato salad, that is DELICIOUS! Don't bother trying to get any type of baked potato b/c they NEVER have them! We've tried at all different times and have NEVER been able to get a baked potato at the Billy Sims in Durant. Their BBQ is pretty good, so with that and the awesome loaded potato salad, we're always pretty happy. I keep forgetting to take pics. I'll post some from a future order because we will definitely be going back.

Spending the night in Durant Oklahoma, wanted to stay away from regular places. Saw this was close by, glad I found it. Friendly staff right when I walked in. Helped me with making choices. Had brisket, jalapeno and cheese sausage, Mac/cheese, beans, toast, tea. Good sized portions, more than anticipated. The meats were tasty and well cooked. Mac/cheese and beans were ok, nothing fancy. Really glad I went . Large portions, reasonable prices. Less than $18.00
