BSB might be a brewery, but they have some of the best pizza in all of Denver. Great flavor and a little char on the undercarriage. And the spicy ranch is incredible too. Plus it’s dog friendly! I am quickly becoming a regular.
Making our way through Denver on the way to the mountains we found this slightly out of the way jewel. It’s in an interesting area of Denver that we weren’t familiar with and parking is a bit of a challenge. We stopped in for a late lunch and didn’t initially know what menu items they offered. It was pizza and frankly, I would have never thought it looked like much of a pizza joint to go along with their beer offerings. I was wrong as both the pizza and beer were excellent. I enjoyed both a sour and blonde ale to compliment our Hotel California (Margherita) pizza. We enjoyed our visit and would certainly return.
I stayed close by during a trip to Denver. This was the favorite meal I had the entire time I was there. The brussel sprouts were so damn good! They were literally cooked to perfection. Next time i'm in town I'll definitely be stopping back in.
Stayed across the street at the Catbird Hotel and had a wonderful experience at Black Shirt Brewing our first night in Denver. They were open later for food on a Sunday night, which is key in the RiNo area. So many choices with their pizzas. We went with the Adios Aloha. The chicken wings were perfectly crispy on the outside and not dry on the inside. And what could be better than washing it all down with some amazing, brewed in-house craft beers? For beer lovers, BSB offers a nice range of styles from hoppy to malty. We’ll definitely be back!
The Black Shirt Brewing Co offers a relaxed craft brewery experience right in the heart of the RiNo district. The staff is friendly and able to make recommendations. There is a beer garden out back that offers plenty of seating and a stage for live performances.

First off, they were short staffed the night we ran across the street and we still felt like we were extremely well taken care of. Fast service getting our app and pizza, as well as a second round of drinks. There is seating out front which is dog friendly, seating inside and a beer garden out back which we did not make it to check out. I am on a mobility scooter and had no issues getting in the door back out and to the picnic seating out front where we chose to sit.
Secondly the food was absolutely a cut above. Period. Last time I was in Denver I wanted a local pizza like this and tried another place. It fizzled. This POPPED.
We got the Garlic Nots which had good chunks of fresh garlic obvious on them *YUM*, and the War Pig to split (we had tons of leftovers). The Nots came with a marinara, my spouse is super picky about those and it passed the test of not too sweet, not to veggie. I can't remember the last time that happened, so that stood out! The War Pig was just as delicious. All of the meats delivered. It was greasy but hugely satisfying and came on a sprouted wheat crust which I wasn't sure about but liked enough to eat the edge of- not something I normally do.
If you are looking for solid pizza with local flair and great service do not skip over Black Shirt Brewing!
The wife an i stopped here after flying into Denver. The staff let us sit with all our luggage, which was nice. I've said this before, but beer is beer to me. It's either a good beer or a bad beer, and this place serves good beer.
We also tried the Garlic Bread as you can see in the picture. It was an interesting take on it by having little pull apart pieces across the entire Garlic Bread. The pizza was great as well. Let us split the pizza and even offered my wife a different protein. Little things like that are what make this place great.
Also, the vibe was decent. I'm sure it's a bit more lively during the night, but we went on a Sunday afternoon. I would still highly recommend the place though.
War pig is the pizza to enjoy, great ambience and knowledgeable staff. We enjoyed it, left no crumbs!
Great spot for pizza and drinks. Comfortable layout, good service and all around good craft beer.
