Wonderful hidden gem. Let's start with the fact that it's not super crowded and they were playing awesome 80's music at just the right volume. I didn't love my first don't and my second one was okay but I think it was just me. They have a decent list to choose from and the bartenders are really knowledgeable.
The burger is out of this world for a little bar in a basement. I ordered the steak frites which had amazing flavor but were not worth the money. It was like less than 3oz and then a ton of fries.
Can't wait to come back though. Very romantic little spot.
Nice little underground spot for a cocktail and upscale bar food. Enjoyed a whiskey cocktail, popcorn and deviled eggs. Took home a small bacon mac and cheese. One bartender was topnotch. The male bartender was abrupt with no sense of humor. Would go back for the drinks and food.
"Intimate" basement cocktail bar. Only four booths, three small tables, & bar seating. Intimate bars typically mean loud bars and this place is no exception. The thing I will say is, the stuff the bar CAN control, cocktails and food are awesome. The bartender choice Old Fashioned is one of the best in Denver. The mussels are delicious. The things the bar can NOT control can be distracting. Things such as a crying baby can be a deterrent and be off-putting. That said, Ste. Ellie is still worth a visit. Bring your patience as you never know what you'll get.
Too bad they close after Saturday. Finally came for the burger that was on a list of the best of burgers in Denver. Dry aged for 14 days. I had cheese and bacon added but after seeing another guest who added an egg, I felt disappointment. Fries were extra but worth it. Paired with one of their many cocktails, it was a great dinner. Busy due to the fact that their days are numbered. Building was sold to Goldman Sachs and they tried to supersize he rent, forcing the businesses to close.
Love love love great food for the steak frites it’s was amazing and the cocktails were perfect. Sat at the bar and the bartender was attentive and great help when it came to choosing a cocktail. I got a bartender choice cocktail and it was amazing, egg white with a light fruity tone
Great bartenders. And some of the best drinkware I’ve seen. If you have a group of 4+ people get the penguin bowl drink. Sneaky tiki influence at this place.
My first pisco sour was wonderful. However the best thing about the pina colada was the pink rocking horse presentation. The shishito peppers were ok, I prefer mine a bit more blistered. The steak and fries were good separately but needed something to pull the dish together. I thought there was supposed to be a bernaise sauce.
First time experience last night, very cool ambiance, great lounge for conversation & drinks. Staff we're fantastic.
This a really excellent cocktail bar. I've had the pleasure of sitting at some of the best bars in the country and Ste Ellie is up there. The bartender, Kevin was very accommodating and knowledgeable. I also overheard him chatting wine with some regulars. Which, to me, is suggestive of the well rounded knowledge and passion of the establishment. Whether it is wine, beer or spirits, I trust the staff is prepared to give you a memorable experience. Set aside time to visit, it's well worth the time.
This is my favorite place for a drink in Denver. Excllent ambience, great service, phenomenal drinks, reasonably priced. The burgers are exquisite. I have rarely had to wait for a seat, but it always seems to be busy. Good for dates and for groups.
