Hands down the best sandwich shop in Dallas... A neighborhood tradition with great sandwiches (large selection, cold and hot) and great service!!

My family and I have been coming to Great American Hero for several years. The quality of food and friendly staff is always A+++++++. The past 2 years Great American Hero has made sub and wrap trays for our Teacher Appreciation Week. The feedback we have received from our teachers was 100% positive. So catering or just in the area, I would highly suggest. Their menu is huge, so don't get overwhelmed. All sandwiches are also available as a salad. I highly suggest the #1 as a salad. That is my favorite!!!!

Hands down the best Sub Sandwich Shop in Dallas and the best sandwich shop in Texas. The best submarine sandwich I've ever had. Italian #1 is highly recommended. Fresh Quality ingredients and even the lettuce was shredded fresh! Awesome staff and the service was friendly. Please support this business while your in the Dallas area. P.S. Please support this restaurant before they close for good. It's such a sad shame to see great local businesses go like this.

The vegan delight sandwich is pretty good. Be sure to double check they add the toppings you ask since I was missing my sprouts even though I asked for it today which was disappointing since I was looking forward to them. Not many toppings inside. It’s a good option and thankful they have gluten free bread. Just wish there were other vegan options!

This absolute staple of the traditional sandwich shop is my basis of comparison among all sandwich shops. The one that was on Garland Road when I was growing up was a frequent stop on hot summer days spent with my grandmother and great aunt. Unfortunately, the news that this final location on Lemmon Avenue is closing at the end of December 2021 made this trip bittersweet. The food is still stellar, the shop is charming and I wish I could hold onto this piece of Dallas childhood a little longer. Bon Voyage, Great American Hero, the memories will always be fond. ❤️

Delicious!!! So grateful for the drive thru! The food was amazing. The service was great too! They gave us some dog treats for our pup in the backseat, and welcomed us for our first time with a cookie! I was very impressed! Only complaint is that the custard was not as creamy as I’d hoped, and it had some freezer burn. Perhaps it was just one of those days. Overall, happy!

I was so impressed with the Cuban! WoW what a great sandwich, it was packed with fresh ingredients and the employees were super nice as well, but as a first timer customer I ordered online so I could pick up through the window and go... I did not mind the $2 convenience fee, except once I got there I still had to wait a long time for my sandwich to be made and I was the only customer. So the convenience fee is not really a convenience fee for the customer. You are better off just ordering on the window and saving $2

Decided to give them a try for lunch and went with the Turkey and Roast beef. The sandwiches are simple and one size. Made it a combo and I was on my way. They are fast and professional. But this hero reminds me of a panini, and will continue to seek a hoagie place in Dallas. Will recommend a good sandwich place.

Very inviting, cute Sandwich shop in the Oaklawn area of Dallas. The staff is phenomenal and the food is absolutely delicious. The options are endless and the pepper sauce/spread is to die for. The inside is filled with wall art and books that patrons can read while dining. Highly recommend-- you will not be disappointed.

We come to The Great American Hero everytime we visit dallas! I love the atmosphere, the staff is absolutely nice and the food is so fantastic! I usually get #28 the Cuban Panini. It is so good that I never get anything else! My son always gets 10 A. the Mesquite Grilled chicken sandwich. Very good! When I can stop ordering the #28 I can review more sandwiches...but I don't see that happening anytime soon. Will always return to this establishment and I recommend you give it a try if you're in the neighborhood!! You wont be disappointed!!

I was really hungry and it was lunchtime. I swung by the drive through for a quick bite and it was excellent. Upon recommendation from the staff I got the Cuban. It was absolutely delicious. The cibatta was perfectly toasted, the mustard was spicy and zesty and the entire sandwhich was a juicy combination. Highly recommend.

This sandwich destination is pretty unbelievable to say the least. So many options to choose from and the originality of some of the sandwiches is just awesome. At first, it looks like a small place from the outside but the inside it’s quite spacious and the parking is very limited. Now to the good stuff, the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich Hero and the Mexican Cheesesteak Hero were top notch with the jalapeño cheddar bread was so soft and flavorful; tasted so good. A plus about this place is the Miss Vickie’s Jalapeño Chips they serve with the meal which are one of my favorites potato chips. Almost everything is under $10. First timers get a free dessert and a coupon which I used for my second order and got it for under $3. So I got two sandwiches and chips for around $13 and free dessert. Can you really argument with that price? I think not. Highly recommend Great American Hero.
