Wabi Sabi

I visited this place on 7/18 While visiting Covington, KY for a conference. I love sushi so I had to visit this place. The staff was very nice and friendly. Rosa took care of me at the bar and gave great suggestions. I had the slouch crab salad which I was underwhelmed by, it looked beautiful on the plate but when I ate it the crab was chopped up extremely fine and it had a ton of tempura flakes in it as a filler, I could not taste any of the crab. I then had the Sassy Girl roll which had shrimp tempura, crab, cream cheese, and avocado. It was rolled very nicely and was very good. It must be a really known place because a lot people were coming in to dine in and carry out. Overall, if you’re in the area make sure you visit.

Great sushi place in Covington. I highly recommend the Dragon, Honey Salmon, and Sunday Morning rolls Their non-sushi menu also excellent (for example, Bibimbap and Bulgogi). Very good sake too (other popular alcoholic beverages as well). Large place with plenty of seating inside (tables & at the bar) and a nice patio out back. Prices are average for Asian cuisine. Service has always been pretty fast and staff is friendly.

We used to frequent Wabi Sabi frequently, as the prices were good and the food was good. Recently, the service has been absolutely terrible, and the food has been worse. Two times we have been in the past month and the server has taken our order and never come back to the table once. Most recently, they didn't even recite the order we put in and we got the wrong stuff, and no solution was offered. Not to mention, they didn't even come to the table more than once. The spicy tuna roll is like dog food. It is disgusting ground up tuna that doesn't even resemble fish, and the texture and flavor is awful like no other spicy tuna roll I have ever had. I will not be going back, and I will not be recommending this place anymore. Get betters servers, and improve the food again.

I used to love this place. 3 of my family members and I come in monthly and I do not think I will return after my last visit. We like to sit at the big tables in the front of the restaurant and try to come in when it isn’t busy so we’re not taking up too much space. The other day, our waitress Rose brought us our check, with gratuity added to it. Now I know it says on the menu 5+ the check will have gratuity added to it, but we didn’t have 5 people at our table. I confronted the waitress and she told me the table I sat at automatically added gratuity on my check. It didn’t make sense because we always sit at this table and this is the first this has happened. I asked the gentlemen that sat me how gratuity works, and he said anything 5 people and over the employee adds gratuity on. I told her to take it off, and she did. But honestly, who would want someone that tried to steal a tip from their customers, to serve them? I will be contacting corporate and whoever else to assure people do not have the same encounter I had with this server. The food was really good, so I’ll do pick up from now on.

I was looking for ramen and this was the closest place I could walk to from the hotel. I know it is a sushi joint, but most Japanese style places carry it. Only one option though... Spicy seafood ramen. More of a Korean menu I found out. Service was excellent at 2pm. Guy at the door was helpful at seated me quickly. My server was fast and nice, but after I told her the ramen was "not ramen but good," I was given a check quickly after. I can take a hint... Ordered green tea and got 1 tea bag and a pot sized for two cups. Most customers I saw ordered sodas. Tried the nagiri (4 different pieces) and it's not bad for the area. The size of the pieces is around 25% smaller than a typical USA joint. More in line with what you see in Japan where portions are generally smaller. At least it was 40% off or I would have felt like I was getting ripped off for the price. Lots of American staple style rolls on the menu, so probably would go that route. As for the ramen. It isn't "ramen" other than the package noodles. Basically a beef bone broth soup with the most overcooked rubber tire seafood I've ever had. Quite a jaw workout. You can see in the picture the bone broth scum on the surface. At least it was a descent sized portion. Spice level is very low too. It's there, but only in flavor. Hate to give a two star review, but this place disappointing. Maybe the Korean food is better, but I'm burned out from it since I spend so much time in Incheon.
