My wife and I had our usual outstanding dinner tonight at Doug & Hazel's. The food was hot, plentiful, and promptly served by a friendly and thoughtful waitress. She asked all the right questions to ensure our experience was a good one and even had a suggestion for my dinner that turned out to be spot on. My iced tea was refilled as needed and the bill for my meal was 100% accurate. We always have a pleasant time visiting with friends and enjoying great food at a LOCAL restaurant. And by the way, our waitress was the owner's daughter!
The cheese 🧀 sticks were amazing. And the cheeseburger was exactly the way it always is. Outstanding!!
Doug and Hazel's has good southern food! Their hamburger steak and gravy is the best! Nice place for hamburgers or lunch! Generous portions and good service.
If you love hand made, huge, fried cheese sticks, this place is fried cheese Valhalla. The sourdough buns on the burgers are so good. Doug and Hazels staff is friendly, there is plenty of seating and you don't have to wait an hour for a seat. Well worth the drive.
Ate here on Friday evening, August 24, 2012. I was in town for the Roast and Boast BBQ competition. I'm a Kansas City Barbecue Society Certified Barbecue Judge. My wife and I both had burgers and onion rings. It was really good food. It was an old fashioned "flat-top" grilled burger and the onion rings were done by hand fresh. If you're in Columbus, MS you gotta try this piece of yesteryear Americana...great service, homey atmosphere and fresh, hot and delicious food. Not many of these "mom & pop" places remaining. Oh, the pricing is also very reasonable.
Ok this is to this Harley person.. I'm at worker at Doug an hazels and your the first person to ever to write a bad comment bout us. We work hard to take care of our customers and make sure there satisfied to the max, in my opionion if you got a problem you call the manager or owner at 662-241-5437 and tell them your problem or you can call me there I'm Michael I'm the cashier I'll be more than gladly to help you out.. But next time you wanna write a "bad" comment which in fact ain't true learn not to write it on something that the owners can't see an on another note, honestly I dont care if you don't come back but we have faithfully customers that come back an we take good care of them and the workers are to there fullest on politeness and will go out there Way to help anyone so if you got something else to say atleast make it something believe it..
Doug is what holds this place. Together. He seems to do all the work while Hazel is forever yapping on the phone! Burgers are really done right here. The fries are yummy also! If you are looking for a good local mom n pop buger shop, whoop, der it is!

Came from Alabama for lottery tickets and found a winner at Doug and Hazels! Best hamburger steak I've ever eaten! Great service and prices. Looking forward to going back.
This place is “Totally Amazing”, been coming here since the 70’s and although lots have changed with the building and owners the food has never changed……NEVER had a bad experience here. I simply and sincerely love their cheeseburgers and fries and their hamburger steaks, staff is friendly and helpful. Just to add, I drive over 50 miles to get here, one way.
Drove to Columbus yesterday and went by and got my fix…..Lg. Cheeseburger and fries with a glass of tea. Don’t know if it was because I hadn’t been in several weeks but my, my it was “wonderful”…..so much for burger joints, they can’t even compete with Doug & Hazel’s cheeseburger’s. Like I said, I drive 50 miles for this and love it.
Food is great. Service is awesome. Karen is the best waitress around. It's our favorite place to eat.

I haven't eaten here but I can tell by the pictures they make fresh onion rings golden brown & delicious looking! That tells me they are serious about quality. The other thing I've noticed that some people complaining about the service are getting a refill on your tea. With this plague that's been going on for 2 years I'm surprised that anybody wants to work in a restaurant dealing with people without mask and don't know if they're vaccinated or not. If one glass of tea it's not enough every 5 minutes well then you got a problem.
Oh wonderful! The meat was tender, gravy seasoned and on spot. The tea just right. The salad fresh.
Good food quick service but a little pricey
Service is always great and so is the food. Hamburger steak is my favorite here. Not the cheapest place to eat but you get what you pay for!!! It's worth it!!
