Country's Barbecue

Barbecue restaurants aren't ever my first pick, usually for a couple of reasons. The staff here are sweet and certainly very patient. The atmosphere, employees, and mashed potatoes are why I'm giving this place three stars. The Brunswick Stew was mediocre, my hamburger steak appeared to have only been flipped once then left on that side for the remaining cook time, and the fries weren't even warm. If you're hungry and options are few, you might be pleasantly surprised, though I got exactly what I expected to.

So I will admit, a lot of this may be nostalgia, this was my dads favourite. I when living in savannah once drove the 6 hours just to get eat here. It has been there through the changes we all face such as my fathers death. All of that aside doesn’t detract from the fact that this is the best bbq hands down in Georgia. To the point where I judge all other by country’s ability.

Save your money. It was horrible. No flavor in the meat and the sides taste like they could have came from a can. I got the sliced pork and I had to fight to get the meat to pull apart. My husband got the ribs and almost lost a tooth trying to bite the meat from the bone. Then to top it off EVERY BBQ SAUCE they offer comes out as water. It won't even stick to anything. The bread is dry. I could go on. I literally just ate my food b cause I paid the money for it. As for our waitress she was extremely nice and helpful but it doesn't make up for the horrible food. I've never left a place scared of being sick but after not only tasting the food but seeing the establishment and dust build up in the bathroom, I know I'll be sick.

Don’t waste your time or money. The collards were good. But three appetizers, only one of which was really edible, and seven entrees later, the collards were the ONLY thing that was even halfway decent. So very disappointing. We had high hopes. The food was dry, under seasoned, and generally a flop. The service was incredibly slow. The girl serving was nice enough, but not helpful and our food took over an hour to come out when there were only two other tables seated in the entire place. It’s really no wonder it wasn’t busy. What a shame. We were so excited to try it. Hoping it was just an off night for them, but won’t be back to see.

I ordered 2 quarts of corn casserole to go and when I got home, I saw the containers were only about 2/3 to 3/4 full. Each container was missing at least 2 cups of casserole. So between 2 orders, I got cheated out of 4 cups or 1 pint (half a quart). Not happy. I live in Cartersville and only get to Columbus on Saturdays about once or twice a year.

Went around 5 pm on a Thursday. Food was luke warm. Fries had seen better days. One good thing was it wasn’t overly loud with background music. Grace our server was very good. If only the food was as good as she was. I won’t be going back. Too many other restaurants to bother giving this one another chance.
