I had the eggs Benny. Delicious. We don't typically go out for breakfast, but when we do, it's fortunate for us to find delicious, local breakfast downtown at Jack and Benny's. It's pretty small in the downtown location, but we got a seat. The service was quick, the food was quick and tasty and the coffee was hot. Definitely a place to stop if you are staying downtown at Broad and High.
My wife and I stopped in for lunch today and the food was great. I had an omelette and my wife had pancakes and eggs. Delicious. It’s old school diner food but wasn’t over seasoned or greasy at all. The coffee was fantastic.
The service was excellent and very attentive. We will definitely be back.
Pretty good food for price. Go for a good breakfast. Girl behind counter was fun to talk to. I got the healthy option with all the meats!
Pancakes were amazing! The waitress was spread a bit thin but was very attentive and on top of it! Great place!
Visiting from out of town. This diner was on point with everything. Great fresh tasting un burned coffee. Waiter was super friendly. Food was great and the prices were reasonable. Even down to cooking the bacon the way I like! (Crunchy!)
Would definitely stop by if in town again! Thanks for the hospitality on my travels, best wishes for the Holidays!
I was staying at the Sheraton in Capitol Square and had to find somewhere else for breakfast. I like to support local places and like local diners. They have a lot of character and often a lot of local characters.
Jack and Benny’s did not disappoint on convenience, service, food or value. It was early Sunday morning so I think the local characters may have been in bed.
I had two eggs, bacon, wheat toast and hash browns. A young girl was taking my order and was very shy. Another woman came over quickly to help her to ensure my order was taken correctly. Some people might get bothered by this but I like to see what I believe to be a family working together like this. My order was perfect and came out quickly. Huge amount of perfect bacon. I don’t like my bacon charred or so crisp it is brittle. This was cooked well but still limber! Eggs were great and the hashbrowns were just right. Crispy, not burned and not soggy. I wish I could cook them like that at home!!
My first time at the diner, ordered a Reuben for takeout. Good feeling about the diner itself, looks well maintained and very clean. Order was taken and served promptly. Reuben itself was great, the corned beef was tasty, sauerkraut and other toppings were generously applied and tasty. Good experience all around.
The food is great, breakfast for lunch is my go-to. The staff was nice but you could tell they just weren't that engaged, which is fine, I don't always need a waiter or waitress to be "bubbly" but if you don't enjoy your job you shouldn't wear it on your face. The good thing is, that didn't stop the kitchen from getting our meals out quickly, but we did have to wait a little longer then we would have liked on the checks.
I ate there 3 times this weekend. Breakfast twice and a late night dinner. The service and food was good. (I recommend the Spanish Omelet and home fries!) A nice menu selection and reasonably priced. I'm going back to Columbus next month, I'll be back to dine!
Solid 4/5. Good food and good prices make this place a easy quick stop for breakfast and lunch. 24 hr also makes it nice. Some of the photos on their listing have street views that have a few previous businesses so I assume that Jack and Benny is relatively new. Like another reviewer stated, they do not split checks. It is right on the front of the menu so there should be no confusion. Got the eggs Benedict and it was good. Shredded potatoes are their homefries. Coffee is good and someone is always around to warm it up. Went here on a Thursday morning around 9 so the wait was non existing. They come to your table to pay which makes it easy (card option). Take out is also available.
