Their sushi is the best! I cannot get enough. It's all so tasty that it's made me brave enough to try the different varieties which I would never dream of doing somewhere else. The staff is friendly and helpful with suggestions when I ask for recommendations on new things to try. Our 5-year-old daughter is obsessed with miso soup and the kids chicken teriyaki. And the molten lava chocolate cake is pure heaven!
First of all, it's impossible to rate Inakaya high enough.
I've been fortunate enough to have countless occasions with innumerable friends here over the past two decades, and literally never have we left unsatisfied or even mildly disappointed. Inakaya is an addiction. The entire staff is exceptional and always eager to provide the optimal experience. When I think "sushi" I'm thinking Inakaya. It's the bar against which all other sushi establishments are measured for me.
The quality of the fish is astonishing for a non-coastal city, but the yellow tail -- in particular -- is absolutely off the charts. Please do yourself a favor and make sure to order some in either nigiri or sashimi form.
This review may strike many as hyperbolic, but I assure you it is spot on. Inakaya is not just on my short list of favorite restaurants, it's on the very short list of best, as well.
I don't have much to say that most reviews have already said but I have tried sushi at the best sushi location in 11 states. Maybe because SC is home but Inakayas is the best sushi I have ever had!¡! The chefs are extremely nice and excellent at what they do.
I love this place. Not to sound snobbish but I've eat sushi all over the world (Tokyo, London, New York) and this is still one of the very best. I would recommend the salmon and toro sashimi and agadashi dofu. The waiting staff has always been polite and attentive. This is my favorite restaurant in Columbia.
Excellent. Highly recommend this establishment. It's more than a sushi restaurant, it's a full blown Japanese restaurant. Heck, even the ramen is good (so says my 11-year-old son who considers himself a ramen expert!).
If possible sit at the bar and ask the chef to make something for you. Dealer's choice. We had squid tentacles one evening that were simply divine.
If you are seating a large party then make sure to reserve the tatami room.

Love, love, LOVE!!!. If you're looking for a restaurant that serves amazing sushi without the loud atmosphere then this is the place. I first visited Inakaya over 8 years ago. It was amazing. Four years after that....still amazing. And then again within this past week. It was better than the first time. The decor is traditional in it's floral patterns and the music is light and soothing. We sat at the bar (a first for us) and were greeted by the nicest sushi makers. Their chilled apple sake was the best I've had and gave a nice buzz. I ordered the Panko-Fried Shrimp Bento Box that came with shrimp tempura, tempura sauce, fried shumai and tempura onions. I don't even LIKE onions but I loved these! My fiance had the Beef Yakisoba that came out on a steaming plate and was great on it's own but amazing after one of the sushi makers suggested he try some spicy mayo. OMG!! For sushi we had the Spicy Tuna Roll (AMAZING), the Eel Roll (AMAZING), and the California Roll with smelt roe (do I have to type it again?). Our server Jazz was warm, knowledgeable and very pleasant. We recommend this place to couples, singles, groups and all. It was AWESOME
We are sushi snobs. After living in Seattle and Los Angeles, you get spoiled on amazing sushi. This place is just as good or better than some of the top sushi spots in the country. Amazing quality of food. Great warm welcoming environment. We are going all the time now. The drive is easy. About ten minutes from downtown.

Can't judge food from the parking lot. First time dining, great service on Friday the Thirteenth! Excellent sushi, one order of buckwheat noodles was HUGE! The restaurant is in a sketchy strip mall, and the parking lot is cratered like the moon. Get past all that, excellent value and great saki selection. Where is the "double LIKE" button?
